  1. I would be interested in assisting in this kind of endeavor. Also, I'd be interested in forming some contracts and "missions" to serve as a tutorial for new players, where experienced players can effectively mentor them through some of the game's processes. (this kind of thing was super helpful in Space Engineers, which was very intimidating for a new player).

Please feel free to send me a PM. (It appears your inbox is overflowing). Emberstone will be no small task, so the more aid in its creation the better it will be for all.

  2. While not necessarily a space station, Emberstone will be a collective cooperative endeavor by all of the member organizations and citizens of the Cinderfall Syndicate. Emberstone is planned to be a newbie welcome area on Alioth beyond the scope of the Arkship Secure Area, where new players to to Dual Universe will be able to orient themselves, find their bearings, and generally learn how to DU. In addition, markets areas, residential districts, social plazas, and other facilities will provide plenty to do while players take their first steps around Dual Universe.

Plans have been drawn up to prepare for the construction of the city. This will be a completely neutral, but high security area where anyone (even those not part of the Cinderfall Syndicate) is free to enter and peacefully use the city's services, but will not be able to engage in aggressive behavior outside of designated PVP areas.

Don't hesitate to contact us with a PM or at Cinderfalls Discord server with questions or concerns! We're always happy to chat.

  3. A group of 4 people would not gain much out of building a city (except the satisfaction of building a city), they would do better building a ship large enough to do everything they need to.

A city is more for many players to get together and buy and sell wares, create/do quests, or just hang out at the local bar.  A city outside a safezone will also have more security (or less if you are a bunch of pirates).  A city can also provide parking services for your vehicles which don't log out when you do. Players can make homes near a city so that they spawn near the services it provides.

All the above can be applied to space stations as well.

  4. I actually think all races (ship, hovercraft etc.) should be "anything goes" races with maximum 3 rules:

    1) Everyone starts together at the start line.

    2) Pass though the all the checkpoints in order and be the first past the finish line.

    3) (Optional - Depends on host) No outside help or interference.

Putting arbitrary limits on vehicles is pointless since if someone makes one too big, it wont fit around the track, and if its too small, it won't have the power required to get up to speed and accidental ramming does happen.  After a few races some will mimic the size and shape of the winning craft.. a survival of the fittest.

  5. Hello, BohrElias. I've seen some narrow-minded git wishes to attracts you to his ranks. Don't listen to him, you're not bound to your brother. Every org needs to be considered, and only those connected to the CSYN (watch out, BOO are ploting with the CSYN too). Take the Empire for example, or other empires, we all plan a great future for our citizens and privates.

There is a salty tang in the air.

Just FYI, that wasn't a recruitment message, but a welcome message. BohrElias had already joined CSYN yesterday,  And he is free to leave if he so chooses.  That is the freedom of CSYN.

    Again, Welcome BohrElias :)

  6. Will there be elements that provide lateral movement (up and down movement) inside a construct?

I know many people on the forums and discord channels are dreaming up their massive ships and buildings.  But how will we move around inside these ships and buildings, specifically up and down?

Are we relegated to ramps and jet-packs or can we do better?

    Some examples include:

    • Ladder elements
    • Elevator elements
    • Teleporter elements

    Can you think of more?

  7. Cinderfall Syndicate welcomes any who wish to join, both players and organisations.

We believe in freedom, both for the individual and for member organisations.

We believe defending our members. Security brings peace of mind.

We believe in enjoying ourselves and making the game enjoyable for others.

We are the privileged: Membership gives access to services, benefits, and facilities among others.

Go here to join or learn more.

  8. I can't even begin to describe how much the OP irks me. It is not only misleading in some cases but downright wrong. Hopefully due to a misunderstanding.

NB: No Construct vs Construct combat does not mean no PvP. There will be PvP in the form of Avatar vs Avatar combat. E.g. Boarding crews etc.

NQ has been blatantly transparent as to what features will be included and when. One reason for this is to set expectations. If Construct vs Construct combat cannot be added due to (seemingly) budget constraints, I am happy to wait as it will be one of the first things added after release. Don't want to wait? Get even more backers.

Does not having Construct vs Construct combat right out the gates suck? Hell yes. We all want it. But even mentioning NMS is not helping anyone.

  9. I will admit, not being able to steal or loot DAC's is making me reconsider my emerald Kickstarter pledge.

I feel like this decision is catering to the wrong audience for this game.

This is one of the big dangers of a game that has not been made yet. People will imagine things to function in a way that was never intended to be in the game in the first place. JC is being very transparent on his vision for the game and communicating clearly when what will be in the game and how certain aspects will work. Yes, the community can influence these decisions to an extent but not to as great a degree as some might believe.

DU is not a Pirate sim to cater only for pirates. Does this decision suck for pirates? Hell yeah. But with many other lucrative pirate targets, it would be a shame to lose players to something like this, even if they are pirates ;) .

  10. Two examples of when DACs should not be able to be stolen:

    1) A casual gamer with a bit of time but no spare money has gathered enough resources to purchase next months subscription in the form of a DAC. Then it is stolen, potentially losing DU a player forever.

    2) Kickstarter DACs. They are a major component in nearly all the backing options. Losing the lot on the first day is sure to also lose players.

Call it their own stupidity, losing players due to a game "feature" is not desirable.

Why should DACs be able to be stolen?

    1) Curbing the super rich player from dumping thousands of DACs to effectively purchase entire orgs.

    2) Encouraging piracy and in turn security forces. This is emergent gameplay.

Converting DACs to physical items at your spawn point would put the risk on the seller and the buyer could immediately digitize it again. It could work.

But wait. The DAC dealer can dump a thousand DACs anyway. Being able to steal DACs won't actually change this. And are there not other resources, elements, blueprints, entire ships that can be pirated?

  11. I really think it should be opt in. I don't think the immersion that would be gained by half-hearing potentially thousands of irrelevant conversations around you outweighs the additional strain on servers and connectivity. A simple GUI could be used to start a conversation by tuning into a channel and others would have to do the same. Channels could be dynamically created and invites to join various channels could be sent. Mute/ignore functionality would also be required. I have less of an issue with push to talk but having that as a default sounds like a good idea.

I would envision such channels to only function within line of sight unless they are extended through the use of an element or item.

  12. I would like to see this happen because it is immersive as all hell, though realistically I see it working on more of a opt in channel basis rather than a passive "hear everyone around you" type of thing. This could be extended to have elements that create a secure communication channel for those interacting with it.

This would be great not only for simple 1-on-1 chats and political discussions but also in-game concerts.

While very nice to have, because there are workarounds like Discord, I don't see this happening till after release if at all.
