  1. It would actually be pretty awesome to have planets with a slightly more hostile yet rich in minerals environment. You are out and about prospecting, then all of a sudden the weather changes and seriously acid rain starts falling down. People and constructs in its path start taking damage. I'd love to see something like that.
  2. It was mentioned once or twice that it's something they would really like to do. But it's anyone's guess when it could enter the game. There are only so many things they can develop at once. I personally would like to see pistons and other move able parts in the game. It's nice to see so many people concerned about the possible strain this would add to the servers. But the truth is nobody of us knows how challenging it would be on the servers. Dual Universe is constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible, who knows what's possible over the life of the game. ?
  3. Yea though I remember JC mentioning that it was tricky because you'd have to be able to see it from space. I wish I knew more about the technical side of DU. ?
  4. Ha, to me the fun comes from seeing the effects. I'm a sucker for rain in games. It adds a lot to my immersion.
  5. If you can't attach dirt to a moving platform perhaps you can somehow "paint" the material in such a way that it blends with the surrounding environment. Shape something like a rock then paint it grey, stuff like that. Good old camouflage. It might not be exactly what you want but it's a way to work around it.
  6. Yes, I'll try. For starters visit this website, https://theflatearthsociety.org/home/ As you can see they have a bunch of "evidence" in their wiki. One of their principles is that they only accept evidence of tests that are based on natural observation. That sort of science has a fancy name but I can't remember. Another one of their "rules" is that their way of science should be able to be solved by high school math. Do I understand them? No I don't. I honestly thought it was a joke conspiracy but turns out it has quite a few followers. Hit me a PM if you have further questions.
  7. Aah thanks Kurock. But make no mistake it is Outpost Zebra that thanks you. We hope to see many more articles like this and we invite anyone who wants a platform to broadcast an opinion or a story. ? We all need a soapbox sometimes.
  8. Too far for me. Once again I'm held back by this blasted curse. The curse of not having enough money that is. ?
  9. Actually JC said in one of the interviews that there won't be any mining ships. I think that means that for now there are also no elements that either scan or drill for ore. And for all the reasons that have been brought up before that is a good thing. The most important reason being that the impact on the economy from a new player's perspective is a big stumbling block to add elements to the actual mining gameplay. A new player could not compete with mass produced ores in an open economy. JC did say that in time they might look into some type of game play that adds mining functionality to constructs. One idea I recently had is that the scanning for ore is something that might translate into an element for mass mining. I'm sure NQ can come up with something when it's time to introduce it. As for actual asteroid mining, park your ship and suit up! It's not going to mine itself. ?
  10. Anyway, I think it's a good thing that people take the time to talk about it in the comments. And I have seen a lot of stupid comments too. This one person thought it meant that space flight was on rails. Lucky for us NQ is made up of very smart people.
  11. I wouldn't participate but I would most certainly forward interested people towards your endeavor. I'd even buy the penny magazine telling about the latest, the greatest and the stupid exploits. ?
  12. The way I see it. There isn't really a way to redirect people to the "correct" subreddit beyond what's being done already. Now what would help to endorse our preferred subreddit is some NQ interaction on the subreddit. An AMA would drive a lot of Google searches to it. I think. Then again NQ most likely has better things to do. ?
  13. If it makes a difference Outpost Zebra links to /r/dualthegame.
  14. I think thats something many people seem to forget. You kickstart a game to see it being made. Its not the same as buying an early acces game.
  15. Sounds like fun!???? I hope to see this translated into the game at some point.
  16. Yes it should be at some point. It would add more gameplay to capturing ships as a pirate.
  17. If memory serves me right, Nyzaltar said that recycling is currently not a thing. I'll do my best to dig up the quote.
  18. Oh no I agree. I firmly believe that you have to actively go out to be in control of something. I don't see an org being in active control of a planet any time soon. TU or not.
  19. I suspect that orgs will lay claim on land despite not having a TU on it. A TU means nothing if you can't back it up.
  20. Exactly, I believe J.C. said that a player should always understand why something is happening to him or her. You can stretch that statement quite a bit but death star weapons are of the table. The death star made a cool movie but in gameplay it would be boring as hell, in my opinion.
  21. Sure it is possible but how smooth it goes depends on the established infrastructure. If trading is something you enjoy you could definitely live like a nomad moving between settlements. Pick up minerals in one city and sell it in the next. It all depends on your expectations of being a nomad.
  22. My 2 Quanta, One important factor in an empire falling apart is the rate of communication. Things will move faster in DU compared to real life but you can expect to see similar dynamics. Communication and information which are interchangeable are key elements in the rise and fall of empires.
  23. That is a fair question. I'm not sure how it would work out with turrets specifically. Perhaps they could be triggered by a pressure plate instead of a LUA script automating it. I will say that I'm still against automating too much because I think human interaction is more valuable and intersting. Its like ATMLVE said, build next to friends or make sure you are well hidden.
  24. Just throwing it out there, I like mining by hand.... For all the previous reasons NQ gave I'm happy mining is the way it is. If you dont like mining as is, do something else.????
  25. Greetings, its always nice to greet a new player. ????
