  1. As twerk already said, it's YOUR org so when you say "we race from 2-4pm pst" then that's it. You can always hire ppl from other timezones. I just stated that such gates probably aren't in the game from the start and that I would organise the whole thing manually and go from there once you know what can be achieved with the game at release. Can't see a bad whats bad on that..... Because I hate working for nothing when I realise that all my plans and pre-assembled code won't work because it's not supported. But that's just me, do whatever you want and when you decide to go that way with a lot of work then do it - idc.
  2. I hope for basement refineries, huge meeting halls with (perhaps?) screens to visualize to your fellows what tactic you will use or what needs to be done (pretty please?), courts, bars, living quarters (well, cosmetic only and useless....), hidden rooms for illuminati meetings, churches for cthulhu, mad priests burning someone (did i really just write that?),...
  3. for heat radiation yes, but exhausts could still be inside a ship. which would make some hilarious ships possible but wouldn't be logical. I still don't know what to prefer
  4. best of luck with those orgs there, maybe I'll join later on
  5. Its febuary.... So you're releasing info on a redacted org - gg Well, I wish you good luck and all the best for whatever org
  6. I loled hard when I read: "Great powers like the Terran Union and Void Republic" Neither are big yet and neither have great power - because there is no game yet But I see your points and wish you best of luck
  7. It's scifi - jetpack anyone? And if a jetpack is not viable I'd rather go with some sort of tractor beam to pull/push loot/ships/whatever around. Cables are old school EDIT: damn you twerk, you were faster
  8. since I messed this up and can't see the votes, please PM me if you're interested and with your desired destination
  9. True in eve you'd need at least some skills to be effective - 1 to 2 months is ENOUGH. AFTER that time you can make billions with just 1h of work each day. You cleary never played eve, or you have no idea how markets work. If you're too dumb to understand game mechanics and just want to earn enough with pure raw "power" (=bots) then you cleary deserve NOT to earn enough money for a plex You can play WOT for free but you won't be able to play Tier X for long. For every game you play Tier IX or X you need at least 5 games with Tier VIII to get you enough money to keep going. So you'd need at least one prem tank. Quite not F2P. NQ already stated that DU is sub based. deal with it.
  10. I have no idea how or if they solve it. Both have their shining days: one for immersion and easier PvP the other for more interesting ship builds, harder pvp and hilarious constructs
  11. Just want to make sure people understand this right :/ sry but as non native english speaker your statement alone doesn't sound like what I wrote. Misunderstanding ftw
  12. That statement is so wrong on so many levels. If he stays in that safe zone from the ark ship - yes. If he leaves, he takes a risk, but is rewarded with resources or some other thing Outside of those rare zones, a player should NOT be protected by any means by NQ. The player should see after his well being. They give you mechanics to use in order to be safe (shields, timers, ..) But how and if you use them, is up to you
  13. That was merely a statement for the implementation of virtual dmg, not the gun itself. For tactics you'd want actual guns that do dmg because of said reasons. Or none at all, because you'd only train situational behavior, who has to go where, who runs right/left, how you communicate in a proper manner and so on
  14. So you don't need those guns for training hitting youryour opponent, cause that's plain useless, but you want it because of tactics? Sorry but that doesn't make sense (as twerk already pointed out) because - In such trainings you decide on strategy (no use for a paint gun) - you want to know what kind of weapons (sniper, assault, minimum, whatever) does how much damage to what kind of armor (none, light, heavy, power, whatever) - you want to know how many guys you need to take out a certain opponent reliably Still, I don't see the need except as cosmetic and perhaps some tournament. And no, I don't feel like the devs should implement some kind of virtual dmg that paint gun does in order for them to be useful. There are more pressing issues
  15. Never said you should remove it yourself - if such a thing ever happens -> report it -> NQ tells you what to do
  16. no one. Or your fleet, maybe? This is yet ANOTHER topic.....again Well I really don't see a problem in just reporting that kind of stuff to NQ and they will do something....or not. They'll tell you what to do
  17. As extra gadget maybe way way way later - why not. Don't know why it would be more than cosmetic though, because hitting is emulated and depends solely on chances (skills, range, gun modifier, ammo modifier, etc. ) so there is no need for training in the sense of "We must train how to use those guns properly because we have no clue how to shoot". so yeah, maybe not at release
  18. That's a completely DIFFERENT topic than the one you started with your first thread..... Huge coalitions are no problem because a) just leave the planet and go somewhere else get your allies together, recruite more allies and kill them c) annoy them with game mechanics to a point where they don't attack anymore Eve is another topic because of it's mechanics - but those are non existent in DU
  19. Good thing in DU: as Nyz mentioned there are plenty of safespaces for you to play. And if EVERYTHING goes wrong, there is STILL an option: just fly with your ship to a place far, far away and be safe there
  20. I refer to this answer from Nyzaltar: https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/1352-frog-frogswarm-french/page-2#entry45292 depends what people define as a troll/griefer (not that it matters because the only valid and useful definition comes from NQ!) People will be killed People's ships will be destroyed People's bases will be pillaged People will get angry about that for sure... Those are facts because of the sandbox nature. Is a guy who destroys an undefended base despicable? IMO not, he just uses the game mechanics to get an edge over others - that guy from the base could've done the same. If people don't want to deal with PVP and with player interaction then they can and should stay in the safespaces: There will be shields to defend bigger markets/cities/stations There will be the safezone around the arkship PVP/Piracy/killing/destruction is vital for a game like this. It's not only a driver for economy but also ensures that RISK VS REWARD (as said by JC) is a thing. You can't live in your perfectly safe environment AND get ingame money as quickly as an explorer, who ventures deep into unknown territory to search for rare ore vines. NQ already said that they deal with griefing on a case to case basis - which is good, because automated systems can be abused with ease ninjaedit: The ONLY thing that matters is what the EULA will be like and what actions a player is allowed to do and what kind of actions are bannable/against the EULA. Every other opinion doesn't count Edited by Nyzaltar: Foul language removed.
  21. Before those pesky skill injectors were introduced eve had a shop - for cosmetics only. There is one common denominator: in EVERY F2P game there HAVE to be huge advantages when you buy something because there needs to be a reason to invest money. STO, WOT, DDO - all the same. They NEED premium items to give you an advantage because otherwise no one would bother buying them and supporting that model. Plus the devs have to split their effort in F2P titels on two subjects: creating more content/new mechanics for the F2P game to keep people interested AND creating enough new premium items with wonderful advantages for the shop so people will buy them. This almost always results in less quality gameplay and a more determined focus on premium items. As in eve (and DU) you CAN play for free - if you earn enough ingame credits. You don't need to P2P. Eve is dying (for the last 5 years every month....) and with less and less subs they needed money - so they introduced those skill injectors in the shop. Which is, to me, some kind of P2W but then again: there is a player run market and EVERYONE can buy those with ingame credits. If you're successful enough ingame you can play for free AND buy lots and lots of those injectors (think it was something like several trillion isk for all skills to V).
  22. only because some game did it, YOU don't have to do it that way. With lua and so many more options you'd probably be better off and design YOUR personal, perfect control system. just saying
  23. You can do whatever you want. Later down the road that is. First everyone will mine to get money and as economy evolves, you might be able to make a living off of selling ships. Once the economy runs smoothly (kickstart it as tweak suggested) you can do whatever the market needs. Sell scripts, sell knowledge, sell information. I made my living in eve searching wormholes and selling the entrance to miners, PvP players or both lol
  24. I don't want to destroy your dreams about playing but this won't be like "early access". Most likely you will only be able to do certain things, no progress is made because of wipes and servers are only up for 2-3 days a week. Nonetheless: good to see a new face and welcome to the community
