  1. All that matters is how the element was placed in that position. If it required an exploit to achieve the positioning, then it's an exploit. But if you were able to put the element in that position using the tools provided by NQ, as they were intended to be used, then it's fine. If no exploit was used, and elements are flagged, then the detection system is still not working correctly.
  2. I'm sorry but i just don't believe that the discussion is ongoing. Are we supposed to believe there's a room full of NQ employees sequestered somewhere for the last month just heatedly discussing this decision for eight hours a day? Come on. I know it's generally considered a good idea to rip the Band-Aid off as quickly as possible to minimize the pain, but in this case i think the wound may be festering while you're sitting around waiting for the most profitable moment to make your announcement.
  3. Making it slightly more complicated to carry over wealth will only increase the advantage to those who do it effectively. And A well equipped PVP org will still have a fleet of ships after the wipe.
  4. I agree completely that wiping Quanta, but not wiping sold blueprints would be incredibly unfair to anyone who has sold a Blueprints. But at the same time, there's a decent chance that a lot of the people who have bought Blueprints may not be able to purchase that same Blueprint again. Since there's no guarantee that the person who made the original will still be playing. That means NQ is just deleting all of those constructs. Poof. Never to be seen again. And the alternative, Magic Blueprints, would be even worse, leaving a HUGE loophole for anyone to bring over wealth into the new game, and punishing anyone who doesn't take the time to transfer all of their wealth into constructs before the wipe. Which of those option sounds good to you? Because they all sound pretty bad to me.
  5. It kind of seems like everyone who wants a wipe has a list of stuff that other people have too much of, that should be wiped. And a list of stuff that's important to them, that they should get to keep. That's not a wipe. That's just begging NQ to take other people's stuff, and let you keep yours.
  6. With the last Algorithm i rebuilt my speeder and repositioned almost every element. i did extensive testing, and had no elements flagged at all. Then i made a Blueprint and deployed a second version of it. Did extensive testing with that one too, and had no elements flagged. Then i compacted the speeder and went to Lacobus to recalibrate some MUs. When i uncompacted it on Lacobus i got the warning message on the screen and had multiple elements flagged. Compacted it again and went back to Alioth and it was all clear. I also tried bringing the speeder to Lacobus docked to another ship, and same result, elements flagged on Lacobus and not flagged on Alioth. So if you're testing the new Algorithm, don't assume that your ship is all clear just because it appears to be in build mode.
  7. Well that just makes me sad. This is like the time they gave us a fuel intake element, and then it turned out to be just a tiny door. They really don't like us do they.
  8. The fact is that two player characters will always be more powerful then one, four will always be more powerful then two. the question is do we want NQ attempting to figure out whether there are one or two pairs of hands in the room? in my opinion any attempt at that would be super invasive and creepy. So what else is NQ supposed to do about it?
  9. The last word from NQ on the element stacking issue was that they were going to fix the algorithm and then test it on the live server with Athena. I haven't bothered to log in. But it sounds like the new element stacking detection works about as poorly as the last version. So hopefully they toss this one out too, and try again. It's absolutely ridiculous to implement something that has this huge of an effect on so many players, just for the sake of removing the remnants of an exploit that has already been fixed. They need to figure out another way of dealing this those old stacked ships. This one clearly isn't working.
  10. Love to see my big red ship in the warp test 😁. But it's only half finished, and if you wipe the game it'll take me a year to get back to the point where i can continue working on it.
  11. A lot of games give out free Bata keys to testers to give to their friends to promote a game in development. I don't know how many keys like that NQ decided to give out. But the only Beta key i got was the one that NQ sold to me as part of the Kickstarter pledge. Due to the fact that they sold it to me, i kind of feel entitled to do whatever i want with it. When i activated it, my only goals was to have a second account. I really wasn't looking to get anything for free. I was fully expecting to start paying a subscription on both accounts as soon as possible. NQ's decision to put themselves in the position to not be able to charge me for either of those accounts is on them. I would like to start paying for both of them as soon as possible. The sooner the better.
  12. It really seems like the only thing that a wipe will accomplish is creating a buzz around the fact that they're doing it. Everything else could be accomplished without a wipe, or isn't actually going to be accomplished anyway. If they give out "magic blueprints" it will hugely benefit some people, and randomly penalize other people depending on how they do it, and how much notice they give. And giving less notice will only punish trusting people and benefit people who saw it coming. Either way, not a "fresh start" just a new mess. If they wipe everything else but let people keep all their Blueprints it's a huge hit to ship builders, who sold their designs only to have one side of the transaction wiped, while everyone gets to keep the other side. But if they only let people keep Core Blueprints it's a huge hit to anyone who has a collection of ships or designs that they don't want to lose, some of which they might not be able to buy again after the wipe. NQ just outright deleting all those Blueprints isn't going to go over well. And if the only thing it achieves is a short term bump in new players, it just feels like they are monetizing wiping my progress.
  13. NQ will never be able to determine whether there are one or two people in the room. So, they'll never really be able to stop people from using alts. When they try, by doing things like stopping us from running multiple clients, all it does is widen the gap/advantage between people who are doing it and people who aren't. But one player controlling two accounts will always be at a disadvantage to two equally skilled players. Unless they are cheating by automating one of the accounts. My point is just that If people are gaining an advantage by using Alts in PVP, the answer is to bring friends. If people are gaining an advantage in PVP by automating Alts, the answer is for NQ to ban them.
  14. I really think it's important in these discussions to make a distinction between people using Alts, and people automating Alts. If anyone is cloning mouse clicks or keystrokes to control an Alt, that is cheating. It really has nothing to do with the Alt though, it's just cheating in general.
  15. It's cool that the bots posting these malicious links have multiple posts on the forums. The last time this thread was necro'd it was a bot too. I reported that one and it's still up over a year later. I'm not even going to bother anymore.
  16. It seems to me that NQ is trying to monetize a persistent world game, and a fresh start, at the same time. They are making promises to both sides that they can't keep. And everyone is going to lose. I don't even know where to go from here. Ideally, they shouldn't have sold the "final wipe" the first time, if it was a promise they couldn't keep. And i fail to see how making that promise again to a whole new (entirely theoretical) group of players, is going to benefit the game.
  17. Did you notice if the FPS drop happens in space too, or is it only in the atmosphere of a planet? Having a lot of wings or ailerons seems to cause an FPS drop when they are in use. I think that has always been an issue though, even before 0.28.
  18. When you first enter the pilot seat the ship automatically creates a LUA script that controls how the ship handles. If you right click the command seat and choose the option to "Run Default Autoconfigure" that will reset the script. If you made any modifications to the speeder it may have caused an issue with the script that is making it fly weird. When you run the autoconfigure you can choose between "ground construct" or "flying construct". The speeders are originally set to ground construct, so if you want the controls to remain the same you'll want to choose that option. But you also might want to consider adding two small wings and setting it to flying construct. Then it can fly, which is a lot more useful than the basic hovercraft. Although the controls are different. You can also right click the command seat and change the controls to direct mouse input, which i find a lot easier than the default keyboard only steering.
  19. So why would they wipe? You still haven't given a reason that couldn't easily be accomplished without a wipe. You keep bringing up that a wipe has always been on the table, but the context of the statements that you're referring to make it incredibly clear that they will not wipe for any of the reasons that you've suggested. You can make all the predictions you want. But when you manipulate the truth to back them up it kind of makes it seem like you're just here to change the outcome in your favor. I know you don't care whether they wipe or not, but there are about a hundred posts on here in the last month that seem to suggest otherwise.
  20. The First time user experience needs to be functional. It needs to introduce new players to all the things they can do in the game. But beyond that, what you do in a game like this is too open ended for anyone to have a chance to appreciate even a small percentage of what the game has to offer from a tutorial. What's going to inspire/drive new players to sink their teeth into the game like this, is seeing a thriving community of players enjoying the game. This game has a lot more to offer then it appears to on the surface. Sure you can slap a few elements on a core, and make it fly, but for some people, the potential of the game may not occur to them, until they see someone fly by in a giant banana, or a replica of their favorite Star Wars ship. Nothing is going to promote this game better than the imagination and creativity of the people who enjoy it. This game will always have a steep learning curve, it's as much as asset as it is a liability. The FTUE can help players get over the learning curve, but there has to be something on the other side, to motivate them to get over it too.
  21. I have to say i'm having a hard time understanding this. When you say you're discussing a wipe internally, do you mean that you're discussing whether there is, or might be a technical reason that would require a wipe? Or are you discussing the possibility of wiping current customer's progress, for the purpose of providing a "fresh start" for perspective new customers? The last clear statement that we were given was that you would do your best not to wipe our progress. And I've been playing the game with that statement in mind, since then. Saying that you are having a discussion, without clarifying which of those discussions you are having, is just throwing more gasoline on the fire.
  22. Right now we only have the detection system, but the elements won't be disabled until NQ works out the issues. They said they were going to release a new improved version of the detection system with the Athena update. So i wouldn't even bother messing around with anything until after Athena.
  23. I don't expect they won't, i hope they won't. I'm just pointing out that what you're suggesting they should do, is something that would be dishonest and bad for the game. If progress needs to be wiped, for a reason, then it needs to be wiped. If it doesn't, then it doesn't. That's a simple fact that leaves me wondering why you think they're going to wipe? If you can see plenty of reasons, you've only shared two. And i dismissed them because they can easily be accomplished without wiping progress.
  24. What was the first argument/reason? Just removing constructs from sanctuary, that could easily be removed with abandonment? They just reset the planetary terrain. And they could do it again if they needed too. Although it seems unlikely after all the trouble they went to helping people dig out their underground bases. If they were planning to wipe that would seem like a pretty big waste of dev time. Even if they did need to do another terrain wipe, there's no reason they would need to wipe Quanta. And I don't see why they would need to redistribute the ore pools, or unclaim territories either. If it can easily be done without a wipe, it isn't an argument for a wipe. There is currently no reason to wipe progress, except to provide another "fresh start". And doing that after they already sold the experience once would be dishonest, but more importantly it devalues their product. Who wants to play a persistent world game that gets reset every time it might be more profitable? You keep claiming that there's no such thing as a "level playing field" but resetting territory claims and Quanta and schematics would be a huge leveling of the playing field. If you don't think NQ has any intention of leveling the playing field, or you think that's not what anyone is asking for (despite the OP clearly asking for it), i don't understand why you keep desperately grasping at reasons for it to happen.
