  1. I feel like we just narrowly avoided being assimilated.
  2. (edit) Here's the page that explains who gets what now. Silver is Alpha 2. https://www.dualthegame.com/en/news/2018/03/07/supporter-rewards-for-founder-backers/ We're in Pre-alpha now. Pre-alpha Alpha 1 Alpha 2 Beta Launch
  3. We could call it a banana cream pie. Who cares? But if we call all the phases Beta it would be a bit confusing wouldn't it? It's just a name that indicates that it isn't the first alpha. And it's also not the last test stage (or Beta).
  4. People recreated and designed and shared tons of fonts made out of voxels in Landmark. If you build it and share it i'm sure it will be appreciated. I have a favorite font that i'm waiting to build until they implement the voxel library feature. It's 5x5 though. Anything smaller then that and it gets pretty limited. Every voxel absolutely does matter too. A 5x5 font is pretty big. There are times when something smaller is handy. Having the display screens in DU is a total game changer when it comes to signage. I'm pretty excited about that. But I'm sure there will still be times that voxel lettering will be useful.
  5. Are we talking Providence, Rhode Island? I've been there a few times. Definitely full of criminals. Welcome to DU
  6. I never got into EVE myself. But it's been a pretty huge success for what 15 years now? Anyway I hope that DU can be a game for the dog eat dog EVE players. And the casual voxel artists, and SIMS style house decorators, and twitch streamers, and whatever else too. We need everyone's money!

    Airlines?

I like the idea of players transporting other players. One of my favorite aspects of early Everquest was that the Wizard class could teleport themselves and others. And it was the only way to get around other then walking. So you either needed to make friends with a Wizard, or pay one. I don't know about the "discount airline" concept though. There would have to be some way to violently drag another player off the plane for no reason.
  8. A screen unit that can be resized to any dimensions would be nice. Maybe a screen that works like the force field units and just keeps going a ways until something stops it.
  9. I think the main reason this specific exploit won't be likely to be an issue is that valuable materials will be underground probably in odd shaped veins surrounded by dirt or rock. So you would have to write a program that could first use the scanner to identify a vein of the material that you want. And then it would have to be able to visually tell the difference between the surrounding dirt and resources. It might be possible. But it definitely wouldn't be possible with predefined patterns. Your macro would need to be pretty intelligent.
  10. @Mod-Merwyn Ok I do hope they find a way to resolve that. It seems like it unintentionally punishes people who bought lower tier founders packs during the kickstarter. On a completely separate subject. Why do all the mods have names that start with an M? It's confusing
  11. I hope this is just a mistake and will be changed at some point in the future? I have no problem with the charging full price for the upgrade part. But making people who bought a Bronze or Silver founders pack create a new account just to access the game now seems bad.
  12. I am definitely all for some wildlife on some planets just to help make them feel real. Just some small stuff. Nothing too fancy. But I would rather they stay away from the whole No Mans Sky animal discovery game. The problem that seems to happen is that once discovering all the creatures or plants or whatever on a planet becomes a game or an achievement then it has to be balanced. Once the balancing starts it always seems to end badly. Apparently most people don't want to spend more then an hour tops discovering all the diverse life on a planet. So they have to cram so many critters per square foot that it makes the planets feel more like petting zoos. Anyway I guess saying "don't do it like No Mans Sky" kind of goes without saying these days lol
  13. How much DACs will cost depends a lot on what else there is to buy in game with the currency. If there's lots of amazing player made stuff to buy. Then people with plenty of IRL money will want more Quanta, so they'll buy DACs to sell, so they can then buy a new ship or whatever. The price will probably fluctuate a lot in the beginning depending on whether sellers needs Quanta right away or they're just in it for the profit.
  14. I'm going to have to agree with others here. I don't need any carrots or sticks forcing me to play or not to play. I'm all for some survival mechanics but I would definitely prefer if they we're centered around encouraging the player to do stuff in the game. Or explore parts of the game. But not telling me when to stop playing.
  15. @Hades Yeah you have to be in hyperspace and lock on to them and get in range, and then initiate the interdiction. Then you have to keep them in range and in front of you long enough to finish it. While they try to evade you. It's the evasion part of it that i'm not a fan of, because it just seems unrealistic. Rather then using your own strategy to evade them you have to follow this target on your screen as if you're also chasing someone, and if you don't keep up with it then you get knocked out of hyperspace. I guess it will have to be different in DU since it sounds like FTL travel will be from one point to another. So everyone will be traveling along the same paths. In Elite:Dangerous you just have an FTL drive and can travel anywhere with it. So in DU everyone will already know the path that someone will be traveling in hyperspace. So maybe interdiction would be done by building something along the path, that knocks everyone out of hyperspace. I wonder if we will be able to drop out of FTL in between gates? Or once you start you just pop out at the other end.
  16. Elite: Dangerous has Interdictions. I definitely like the idea for DU but I'm not a huge fan of how it works in E:D so hopefully NQ can improve on the mechanic a bit. In E:D it's like a mini game that pops up for both players, after the interdicting players get's behind the other player and initiates it. You both have to keep a target in your sights as it moves around the screen, and depending on who does better the person being interdicted either gets away or is knocked out of hyperspace. So what do people think? how should it work? A mini game or something similar? or something else completely?
  17. @Hades This is a discussion on future game mechanics. I was obviously making a little joke about how some people seem to use those type of arguments to try to shoot down anyone else's suggestions. But joke or no I can suggest anything I want. If you don't like it feel free to offer your own suggestions. Please try to keep your comments towards me in the future strictly game related. I'm not really interested in your opinions on my level of professionalism. Thanks.
  18. There is no logic. Only sandbox. If you want shields you have to hire other players to lay on the hull of your ship and act as human armor. Sorry I don't make the rules.
  19. Woah woah hold on there. This isn't a game, it's an "emergent player driven sandbox". Developers can't just add things to the game because that would make it more "fun". What do you think this is one of those carebear themeparks. If you want to stop someone's ship you have to hire other players to form a barricade, or roleplay that you put sugar in their gas tank. Why not just ruin the whole game. Sheesh.
  20. I think they plan to add more Arkships (or allow them to be discovered) on other planets as Ailoth fills up.
  21. What about Phasers?
  22. Welcome 1. Yes the game is up only for short Pre-Alpha tests for Gold+ backers on scheduled days for now. 2. Soon. I don't think there is an estimate for how soon, but soon. 3. I'm not exactly sure how the "automated" part is going to work, but something like that is planned for sure. Right now combat hasn't been introduced yet. But there will be character and ship based combat when the game launches.
  23. I looked up what people from Arkansas are called. Arkansan, Arkie, or Arkansawyer. Maybe they should consider Arker too lol No offence to any Arkies.
  24. Also if this hasn't already been suggested. I think everyone who came over on the Arks should be known as... Arkholes
