  1. Subscribe to the newsletter, check their twitter and facebook, check the kickstarter update section. Lots of info and (smaller) updates there. The AMA from february was also published on the DU website!
  2. I think survival works quite well in the game Empyrion Galactic survival and adds a lot of products You can produce, store and consume. It could work in DU too. It just shouldn't be too harsh and strict.
  3. I'm excited and I like: - To be able to build my own spaceships and fly them around in a MMO-Universe. - A sandbox-MMO with player-cities and player-driven-economy from an european developer. - Subscription model, no item-shop p2w BS!
  4. The crisis of 2008 was caused by cheap money / credit loaned to subprime customers and the worldwide distribution of derivatives. So I don't think we will have anything like the 2008-crisis in DU. Unless we have a player-run banking and financial system in DU with credit / loaning, shares and derivatives of some sort. Or leveraged speculation on credit of some sort. Most ressources in DU will be mined/created and then consumed for construction or as fuel. So there will be the lack of and oversupply/inflation of ressources and market crisis/collapse, speculation and all that what Lethys and Zamarus described for sure.
  5. 1. Nein 4. (Translation) (1. No 2. (summary:) Its normal in a MMO played by players from all over the world that englisch is the language most used and widely known by many. But there already are and there will be more communities of different languages for sure. You can join one of the already existing german-speaking organisations / player groups and get most of the info in german there. There are some Videos about DU in german language on Youtube already.)
  6. Organisations and communities also constantly change. Big Youtubers may bring in many new playersin in the beginning, but many will just check on the game and move on then, not all of them will stay with the game. Especially when the Youtuber moves on to the next games. Only when the dust settles after release, probably after some months, we'll see how many players really will stick with the game and pay a monthly sub. Now with Star Citizen 3.0 out and improving there is also another SchFi-MMO on the market people interested in SciFi-MMOs will probably check out and go to as well.
  7. Youtubers will be positive to give exposure to the game and they will be free advertising. More players->more attractive game ->more income for the devs -> further development of DU-> good for us all!
  8. I think it will depend on the number of players. NQ said they will expand the universe when there are more players and after players go out adventuring and exploring.
  9. A city. Other players to talk, play and trade with. Some outposts.
  10. Isn't this forum and community website supposed to be the main info hub and gathering point of the community and the pre-alpha-testers? Where all info should be posted (first) ? NQ, please don't neglect the forums in favour of twitter and facebook! Imho only forums enable proper discussions and an accessible and ordered store of information for a longer period of time.
  11. Correction: It would be nice to get some info about how the *open door event* went.
  12. Novaquark, what about answering this question here? Otherwise it''s all just speculation...
  13. The new website looks good! But I think the news could be updated: -I miss a report about the open door event that happened recently. -There could be another dev journal and more info about the current general status and progress of development, the last pre-alpha sessions and what's planned for Q1/Q2-2018.
  14. You can also use Space Engineers and Empyrion Galactic Survival to design and build ships. Those to two games are probably close to how ships are built in DU.
  15. I think everything in this game that has to be found, mined or worked for to get it and where there is a demand for will have a value and could be used for trading. Value will be determined by supply, demand and consumption of that ressource. When a player group mines rare or exclusive ressource A on planet A that ressource would be their primary "currency" to be used in trade. Another player group on planet B mines rare and exclusive ressource B so that will be their main "currency" to exchange. Thats how I imagine trade and exchange of value will work in DU. Then the important question is: How big will our inventories be? Can we carry around a high number of ressources and items in our personal inventory on character or do we only have small inventories with limited space so ressources have to be transported outside of the character "physically" in some kind of cargo boxes?
  16. - Subscriptions are the best and most honest revenue model for a MMO in my opinion. No extras, no pay2win, no item-shop bs for any player. Everyone is equal. How far You get is all about Your skill and what You make and build in the game. - There indeed were lifetime subscriptions within some of the old pledge packages. Probably similiar offers will come back one day... - No need to buy overpriced ships You can't design, change or modify Yourself like in Star Citizen.
  17. I really like how its done in Empyrion. It will add more goods to trade, produce and use.
  18. NQ, I suggest You do a livestream on twitch or a video about that speech and presentation from JC for all us who can't attend in person! That would be awesome!
  19. I don't know if a colony ship like in SC will make any sense in DU. When the new planet has the ressources, You can just go there with a small ship and build there. Probably bring pre-made blueprints and construction schematics with You. It'll only be necessary to bring the needed ressources if the planet You want to build on doesn't have any or the wrong ones.
  20. Hi, is there any kind of a survival mechanic planned for the (later) game? Like the need for food or oxygen?
  21. Empyrion Galactic survival is an awesome game and one of the best games I ever bought on steam early access. You can build space stations and spaceships like in Space Engineers and explore planets and build bases on planets. The dev team is very active and brings updates on a regular basis. Its not a MMO but You can get on multiplayer servers with up to 200 people and multiplayer game worlds and planets can be customized in some ways. I really like Empyrion.
  22. In the past alphas and betas have been closed groups for testing and balacing. Very often there were strict NDAs in place. Its also because the devs didn't want any bugs or gameplay imbalances out in the public before the official release! Before they were able to fix them. Nowadays a lot of developer allow sharing content and experiences! But its not the "default setting! If You are in doubt and don't have a developer cleary stating that sharing pictures, talking about the game or streaming it is allowed, don't don't do it and assume some form of NDA is still in place. I plan do stream DU as well. But I won't do it before getting a clear statement from the devs that it is allowed. (Probably a Novaquarl team member could elaborate on this?)
  23. Because most MMO-Projects normally take 1,5x-2x the time as initially announced to get developed just add 6-12 months to any given date to get a realistic estimate when we will see alpha, beta and release! So I don't expect alpha to start before Q3/Q4 2017. Delays in MMO-development are the norm, not the exception. I hope to be wrong though. But following MMOs for 15+years I have learned to take any announced dates, especially at the beginning of a project, as rough estimates only...
  24. Empyrion Galactic Survival is a great game and fits into the space building theme quite well to pass the time! Its one of the best Early Access Games on steam and is actively developed further.
