    Am I understanding this correctly:

Everyone starts on Haven, and so gets a tax-free tile to run autominers on there.

Backers (those with a free Sanctuary Territory Unit) can also claim a tax-free tile on Sanctuary, and run autominers for free there too?

So Backers can save 500q/week on automining (tile tax) fees for T1 ore?

sorry my previous post was reply to this.

    Ravenskysong,

your haven / sanctuary tile is the tile that would remain protected at all times for you to store things for long term absence. Tiles on planets will hopefully be open to territory warfare soon and I think were never meant to be permanent safe places.

They haven't actually confirmed that they will be leaving our Sanctuary tiles as they are, or even that we will be able to keep the tiles themselves.

another weak attempt to fool us. you dont care about new players, you only care about yourself and your "wealth". im so sick of all these ppl who try to argue how they should not lose all their stuff. you are pathetic, every single one of you.

gaming is dead anyway, i dont even know why i am here. i stopped playing right after the "glorious" schematic update like most others and i dont plan to play again.

i would only come back if all these come true:

there is a full wipe, everybody starts from 0

you buy the game and then pay never again. no sub bullshit, ingame shop for skins etc. is enough to finance the game

the game is on steam only

no schematics at all (there are much butter ways like specialization via talents)

as you can see i will never play this game again. good luck everybody

I am not a wealthy player; I just really like having them around because I have always found them very helpful.

BPs I can understand if they are their own without drm.
Talent points themselves will have to be deleted, purely out of fairness to all new players, as the advantage is simply far too enormous. If the skill points would stay, you could also leave everything else, makes no difference in the long run.

This and other posts in this discussion.

When I started playing at the end of Alpha, there were many people who had loads of Talent points, and lots of industry, and experience of the game and I found that really useful because all of those people were really helpful in getting me started.

A full wipe of everything to level players so that all the old very experienced players have to start back at the beginning along with all the new players, would be a mistake because the best experience for new players is when there are advanced players with loads of stuff available to help them out.

However, NQ will probably do that because mistakes seem to be what they do best.

I absolutely agree! But keep in mind, that some actually might start playing due to a wipe on launch, but I expect it not to be the massive player influx that some people expect.

What I find more worrisome are the exoduses that are going to happen one way or another. Previously I would have identified two major groups. Those that leave because there is no major (enough) wipe on launch and those that leave because the wipe is to big for their tastes. With us stuck in limbo for three weeks, I suspect we'll have a third and fourth group leaving:

#3 People that are not playing (much) since the announcement and, have lost or are losing interest in DU altogether and moving to other games. No longer looking at DU at all, no relaunch is going to change that...

#4 People that are currently in a holding pattern in DU, not doing any grinding due to the high potential of a massive wipe happening that will just leave if after weeks/months nothing changes (no wipe) at launch. Not because they initially wanted a wipe but because of all the trouble it brought and then nothing happens, while they have been sitting on their hands for potentially weeks/months. I suspect that these will be primarily paying customers that are paying for the subscription (non-beta key customers).

At this point I think the not making a decision is doing more damage to the (potential) player base then an actual wipe or no-wipe...

I've given up thinking about playing after launch; I'm just enjoying doing stuff in the game when I feel like it as I feel like it.

I've given up calibrating my mining units, introducing them was the worst change so far.

If/when the schematics change happens I'll just give up doing anything with industry; I might make some stuff in my nanocrafter if that's still possible but there are so many bad changes/wipes being talked about that I guess I'm in both categories #3 and #4.

I shrug and say that I really enjoyed the game before Taxes were introduced because I had "Homes" on every planet and moon and I enjoyed flying around the system, hoping not to be attacked but mostly only carrying T1 ore or the latest furnishings I was adding to my homes so on the occasions I did lose everything, including my ship, I'd just res somewhere, harvest and make a simple ship to get me back to Sanctuary where I could make something better. That was fun so if they are going to take the game away from me with a wipe, I'll just move on and have fun in another game.

Really just not how it works. The first is a commitment to game mechanics, but if they reset the ENTIRE game before release, then Sanctuary moons will be safe from there forward only. It is just foolish or "lawyer-esk" to try and assume that you could use that statement to "prove" that you have a right to keep everything on Sanctuary even through a full wipe. Next you're going to be arguing that if the game fails, and they close the servers, that they are somehow obligated to keep a server Running with Sanctuary on it for you. Nope. Not how it works.

    You've missed my point.

I was just giving feedback to NQ to let them know my thinking on the subject.

In reality, if I lose everything I have built/created on Sanctuary, I won't have any incentive to keep playing the game.

Every single new "limit" they add can be conveniently ignored if you pay for another account.

I started with 1 account and got 3 beta keys, which became 3 accounts which I played regularly and at that time I intended to keep when the game launches, even through the introduction of Schematics until they brought in Taxes. Since taxes and the mining changes I have shrunk my 3 accounts all playing regularly to basically only 1 of them playing some of the time.

Every major change they make leads me to playing less, and if the schematics change and the industry limits change go through then I am likely only to play in a token way until I run out of DACs.

I am assuming there will be a complete wipe except for BPs and money for Schematics because that is all they have told us so far, which means that everything I have built so far will disappear so I will also disappear over the time it takes for my DACs to be used up.

If they are putting limits in to make us pay for more accounts that is a good way to lose us to a game where a single subscription is enough for the game to be enjoyable, and there are games around for which that is true.

  8. Those of us who like to create and build would like to be able to keep our creations and build on them further after the game launches so it would be really helpful to know whether everything we have created so far and everything we create between now and launch will be destroyed by a wipe.

Also, all of the ores we have mined and all of the honeycomb we have made, will we still have that after launch?

Basically, would I be wasting my time creating and building between now and launch?

Please let me know when the ores I collect and honeycombs I make, together with the buildings etc. I create will be safe for me to enjoy without having to start from scratch?

We keep asking you to let us know for sure whether there will be another wipe and what we will actually keep (ores, honeycombs, industry units, schematics, buildings and ships etc. on Sanctuary and Alioth) and when the final wipe either was already, or will be?

Second star system is confirmed as feasible (despite many people here claiming otherwise) - so new system for new start players; old players have the option to remain in Helios with all of their stuff - NO WIPE CONFIRMED (unless you want one)!

I've watched the video twice and I must have missed where they confirmed No Wipe because I didn't hear that anywhere in the video.

If you can let me know the point in the video that it's mentioned, that would be good, thanks.

  10. This sounds terrible.

I do not sell stuff so I'm not commenting from that side of things but I do currently visit other players huge warehouses and showrooms to have a look around and occasionally to buy.

If your 16 slot tiny complex were to have a large noticeboard on which the people who have built their large warehouses and showrooms could give their location and a brief description of what they have then perhaps that might make this small trading centre useful.

    How do we get there?

    Where do we park?

In the real world there are many capital cities, you are proposing just one Village for the whole DU planetary system.

We already have settlements beginning to form, created by groups of players, some with large warehouses and showrooms, and these work well so why are you trying to create your artificial centre when really NQ should be asking the current warehouse and showroom people what they need in order to connect with the existing Marketplaces and Districts better.

How about asking the players how many existing large warehouses and showrooms there are because I am sure there are way more than 16.

Besides which, it is fun flying or VRing to these warehouses and showrooms scattered throughout Alioth and other planets and visiting player-built communities and player-built warehouses and showrooms, all of them individual and interesting.

  11. If there's a wipe, will we keep our schematics?

I spent time and quanta mining for ores to create, setting up industry to make what I needed, with a vision in mind of what I wanted to create, and part way through this process a wipe will pull the rug out from under my feet.

It is no fun doing something for the second time.

  12. If there's a wipe then everything I have done and built will be a waste of time, also, everything I do between now and the wipe will be a waste of time.

Summer DACs will also be a waste of time.

All the ores I've mined the old way and the calibrations of mining units I've done will all be a waste of time.

So, I guess, until we know that there will be no wipe, even if that is not until after the wipe, there is no point in my playing this game and no point in inviting friends to waste their time playing either.

Please tell us whether there will be a wipe, when will the wipe happen (dates please), how much will be wiped, will we keep our ores, will we keep our Quanta, will our tiles on Sanctuary be kept or will we have to claim new tiles?

    Etc..

  13. Please do not reset/wipe Sanctuary.

Please leave all our constructs on Sanctuary as they are.

Please give us ample warning of any wipe of Alioth so that we can take our stuff back to Sanctuary.

When we started playing you told us that our tiles on Sanctuary would be permanently ours.

I do not wish to start from scratch on Sanctuary.

Over the last year you have done things to cause me to have to lose all my bases on outer planets, and later to have to take down all but one of my bases on Alioth, and I have been playing less and less while I wait to see if everything I build is going to be destroyed again when the game launches.

If you destroy everything I have built on Sanctuary, I will not be building it again and I will be unlikely to continue to play DU.

If you leave everything on Sanctuary as it is then I will probably enjoy to keep playing with the new game and all 3 of my accounts.

I am hardly playing at the moment so that I do not waste any more time on building ships and structures that will be destroyed by you before the game launches so as soon as you tell us that everything on Sanctuary will be safe, I will start playing again with all 3 of my accounts.

It would also be useful to know whether you will be allowing us to keep all of the Quanta we have and all of the components and materials we have in our containers, as well as the materials used in our buildings and ships.

  14. One thing I can say for sure: If there is a complete wipe of sanctuary, I will only consider bringing back one of my 3 accounts.

    2FA is a pain but it isn't a dealbreaker.

A complete wipe including Sanctuary is a dealbreaker such that I will only even consider subscribing with a single account; I might not even do that.

If Sanctuary is left unwiped then I will consider subscribing all 3 of my beta keys when subscriptions start.

    You have my feedback.

    Celestis, Aeliana, & Kyklos

  15. I just came back to have a look at what's changed and the first thing I notice is that I can no-longer see the rocks that have spawned on my territory!

Every time I come back I find something else that you've made worse for being able to play the game.

Please put the bright colours back on the rocks so that we can see them to harvest them.

  16. Please do not do a complete wipe.

If you do a complete wipe, you remove everything I have built since during Alpha and there is no way I will be willing to start again from scratch so you will completely lose me and my other 2 beta key accounts.

If you leave everything on Sanctuary and Alioth as it is then you won't wipe out anything I still have left and I will probably keep my 3 accounts going after the game is released.

I have contracted everything back to Sanctuary and one single tile on Alioth so provided all my current tiles are not affected by a wipe then I will stay.

If you are planning to wipe Alioth, please give me enough warning so that I can retrieve all my stuff.

    Please do not wipe Sanctuary.

  17. Oh great, now you're going to remove my ships on my HQ tiles on Alioth if I don't pilot them for a week!

    Really?!

So it's no-longer possible to do stuff away from Alioth for even a week before our ships left back at HQ get deleted.

This game gets worse with every maintenance now!

    One week!

So if we go on holiday or are busy or sick for a week and don't pilot all our ships on Alioth we lose them?

Couldn't you at least have made it a month?

Ok, I'll pack up all my stuff on Alioth and move it to Sanctuary....

.... but really this really does make playing this game incredibly limited.

What's going to happen to all of the creators who have ships on show for people to wander through?

Are they going to have to pilot all their ships once a week?

As if the frequent calibration of the mining units wasn't boring enough, now we have to routinely go round piloting all our ships on Alioth every week.

So much for leaving my small cargo ship back at base for running to and from the market.
