Why, this is what happens, pretty much every time.

Players> The first iteration is simply just not good enough. Could you rebalance this?
    NQ> Rebalances unrelated thing.
Players> Hey, that isn't what we really wanted.
NQ> Already working on the next game breaking update.
Players> 50 forum post later.... still talking about the wipe
NQ> Hey, look, our next game breaking update is ready, who's going to help us find bugs, you guys! Wow!
Players> Hey that first iteration is still needing a massive update, its really bad.

Did i read this correct that I need to make a schematic for FUEL??????   Are you serious I have to pay taxes on land to get the material and have to pay to make a schematic for  tier 2 pure and to make the fuel....  Just reading this I dont want to sign in...   Please tell me this isnt true..

WTF.. Well  I will give it a day to find out if this correct. B4 i delete my last account....

This new system is cumbersome, tedious, inefficient, and "not fun". It's absolutely gut wrenching how bad industry is wrecked. It's also very expensive if you can't sell your products chaining up the schematic tree to make an element.  This is so, so bad.  I just want to throw in the towel, but not sure if my corp will come back.  If they wipe and take all the skill points with...there ...literally is no point to play.

.23 wasn't really a big deal after schematic prices were lowered, if that's all it takes to lose you interest in the game then don't bother. Even if .23 never happened, people would've gotten bored with everything else and left. There still lacks an incentive to stay in the long term, other than the creative building part

Schematics are a joke...just like PTU where we would have given said feedback that the schematics are a joke.

This company doesn't listen. NQ thinks we need to prioritize a place to sell ships (really small ships), rather than oh I don't know 20 other way more pressing things.

I have to point out how this is classic, frustratingly common example of a false dichotomy.

They are making it sound like the only alternative is building without limits...like we're the ones that don't understand how scaling works when NQ has had so many troubles with it...

That's really unfair, when so many ideas for gating have been discussed...a creative designer could certainly find many worlds of possibility between unlimited production and shoveling paper into burners. That's their job.

This is a very common thing that people do, presenting it like you are unreasonable because the only two choices are this change or the old way.

So effectively, two years of beta has provided us with .. cost reduction and capping what players can do.

Normally you'd run the numbers before you start designing something that can accommodate those numbers.  NQ is working in full reverse in this regard.

And this message pretty much tells us NQ is not done yet.. This implementation clearly is still way too liberal for their goals and so they will put on the limiters even tighter in the weeks ahead .

That NQ is comparing their operation to a "private server owned by a friend" just is the icing on the cake and for me really drives home the desperation they feel around keeping their game servers running and the cost this incurs for them.

No NQ, this is not "a private server owned by a friend". This is a commercial enterprise where you charge more than your average private server would cost per account per month to provide less and less freedom and move away further and further from what you set out to build back in 2014.

You were supposed to be building a single shard world where hundreds of thousands (if not "millions") of players can interact, build, fight and have fun "without limitation". It seems you are not able to deliver that from what we're seeing here.

And no, that is not toxic, unconstructive or unfair. It is a realistic observation based on which I form the opinion I am entitled to have and share as feedback. Feel free to show me I'm wrong as so far, I see nothing that even comes close to doing so.

The problem with NQ is they dont understand the things that go along with EvE.  For one, there are MANY pve and things for players to do.  So a new player can jump, get some money running missions, buy what they need, and get going.  The other thing is that the amount of destruction EvE has.  It means the markets always moving.  Even PVE players lose their ships to NPCs or other players.  Oh well, its gonna be fun watching release and the immediate drop in player base right after just like "beta" release.

One thing that really irks me here is the inconsistency this new system has with previous systems and with the rest of Industry.

Everything is based on tiers being named as Basic, Uncommon, Advanced, Rare and Exotic
    Schematics are suddenly Tier 1-5

The UI is really terrible > a simple GET SCHEMATIC option in the industry UI would already improve this a lot

Now you have to open the industry UI, check which tier and for what type you need, exit the UI, enter the schematic UI and "order" the UI.

Better would be open industry > click "GET schematic" and go straight there

The schematic UI itself should have a built-in filter by using a tree structure for the list

But that would mean you actually have devs who design UI and understand how to get a good UX ..

Facial_Fracture reacted to Knight-Sevy in Taking Alien Core Tutorial - How it works?
You are pretty much obligated to annihilate your opponent's entire fleet before taking the alien core.

Complicated task, but if you manage to take one, one day, all the other 9 will be completely free because you will have all your fleet + all the wrecks of your opponent and they will have almost no ship left to defend the following ones.

Again a mechanism that starts from a good feeling, but very poorly thought out without the community having been consulted at the start of the development of this feature.

For example, nobody at the Legion (we control all the cores) was consulted.
It is contemptuous and profoundly weak-minded to have done so this way.

In this case, no news is not good news.

They'll push the schematics change and try to do the wipe just before release.
Then they'll find an explosion of bugs from everything they've touched in the 3 months since this dumb wipe "announcement", which they won't be able to fix in time.

That's on top of the bugs that always come with release.

Hard to have any sympathy for this style of software development.

Let's make an announcement that ensures no one wants to beta test and drastically alters the economy since no one believes quanta will persist...then proceed to keep changing things up until the moment of release without a drop of feedback considered (including some updates getting pushed straight to live and skipping the PTS).

That's a professional software development lifecycle...right? Good thing they learned from how bad public beta's launch went and are taking steps to make this an even more "dramatic" release, eh?

People can only judge based on the limited information that NQ releases, which isn't helped by them not answering simple questions about how things will work or refusing to deploy changes to the PTS so we can actually see things in action.

And really...are we supposed to give NQ the benefit of the doubt when it comes to design choices...? I do think they'll tweak the numbers for schematics to be more generous before pushing this out, but I don't blame people for a lack of trust.

If NQ actually wanted to discuss things and give us the information we lack, maybe we'd be able to judge things more fairly. And speaking of being fair...the community said that AMs would be bad, and they are bad. I've yet to see anyone claim that this timer-based minigame gameplay is at all engaging.

It's also impossible to say that the community was "wrong", really, because player pops are cosmically low and many of the people that do log in don't spend time to build, they're just checking their timers.

The "economy" that exists today isn't even close to a valid test of a live system.

So when these changes hit live, we actually have no idea how they will work on release -- because there's zero way to test anything related to economic balance until the wipe happens or NQ decides not to do it. Quanta simply doesn't have the same value when players know it is likely going to get erased.

Until the 3-month-plus "decision" of the wipe is made all we can do is speculate, even after this mess is deployed.

how/when are you going to answer any of the questions and concerns that have been raised here? There is a heap of commentary and questions that haven't been responded to and the answers to those questions already asked really are needed to inform further questions.

    Summary of questions so far:
What happens when running industry use up their stored schematics?

How many schematics will be able to be stacked into each industry unit?

With the examples shown in the video it would take approximately 700 schematic hours to produce enough warp cells to transport enough ore to build the required warp cells, similarly, assuming production time for schematics scales by tier,  it would take approximately 100h of schematic hours to produce enough fuel for a 9600L fuel tank. How is hundreds of hours of AFK activity to support an hour of active gameplay considered reasonable by your development team?

With the primary complaints for the game currently being time and resource gating access to the limited gameplay how do you see more time gating and gatekeeping as the solution?

Do you want people to just find the game unplayable?

If the schematics will cost money to copy and will be consumed on creation, and this is about making industry more accessible to players, why time gate copies instead of just letting people buy however many copies they want?

Is this really just to try and further incentivise alt accounts for the few people still playing to try and increase your revenue? because this just seems to be further damaging to the game itself.

I thought the idea of this was to "fix" the broken mechanics of the schematic system but instead you are doubling down on the worst most restrictive mechanics to further gate production, what is the point of this?

So the band aid holding the entire game's economy together will be a highly limited resource that can be gained in an infinitely increasing scale depending on how many accounts you're willing to pay for?

It seems to be a common theme here,

    1. NQ, don't deploy the schematic changes

    2. NQ doesn't listen to the community

Seems to me that at release DU will be DOA, kind of sucks since i put so much time into alpha and beta to "help test and structure the game"
