Frequency of game crashes are intolerable
joaocordeiro replied to Sybily's topic in General Discussions
The answer is "we know, and we are doing what we can to fix it" The true question is not bad things happen. Its why this cycle has been repeating it self for years. Are there any true tests before code reaches the players? I dont mean: "yes we tested 10 times and it worked" I mean: "we executed a automation of 200 testes that we created and it passed with flying colors on the 20 diferent test environments we have." -
But i dont see any change regarding the economy system. So even if the restart happens its just a matter of months before it fails again. I hope they reset the game, and i know that some players will return to the game after a reset. But unless they change how things work, we will be having this same talk 1 year after the reset..

You sound like you are quitting. Are you?

While i appreciate the work around, if shows how bad DU is in managing resources. How about thread control? How about CPU priority? How about resource scheduling? Do you think AAA games do this like DU? Just spam resources and hope the machine does bot blow up? I know that programing a thread control mechanism is a rare and expensive skill but this game will always be handicapped without it.

The new Chair Surface...great idea, terrible implementation.

I think it should be adjustable with some combination of keys. Or/and a scrollbar setting in options. -
You've reached the max amount of core units you can deploy
joaocordeiro replied to Massacher's topic in Builder Forum
You get +2 each "basic" level, and +1 each "advanced" level. So its 17 cores. But those are "all" cores, no separation between static or dynamic. Also keep in mind that orgs can own very large amounts of cores, way above 17. -
This is not just a presentation of the new org but also a complaint about several issues players experience

This answer is not for you jokers, but for new players that might actualy not know who AC is. When beta started there were several minor and major orgs around. Some wanted to colonize some planet, others wanted to make elements, others to mine, others to design ships, others to enslave noobs into forced labor, etc. But at that time, PVP was a huge pile of bugs that NQ called "code" So, non PVP oriented orgs were very unsure on how to do PVP, why do it, and most important, the consequences of PVP. Most of those orgs were founded by alpha or pre-alpha players that knew each other very well. So, agreements of non aggression between those orgs were made and information about ore, market needs, bugs, casualties started to flow. With the growth of BOO's activities (known pirate org) and the aggregation of smaller pirate orgs into their sphere of influence, those orgs that had 1 to 1 agreements seated together and joined forces to create one alliance: AC From this point on, i stopped playing the game and lost access to inside information. But i know that later AC did create some "powerfull" armed forces and was even hired to provide security in some occasions, like the starwars event that BOO attacked. So for all i know. AC is the most bright (and maybe the only) shard of "Law" in the system. Perhaps the only thing standing between civilization and total anarchy. So yes, if confirmed, the breaking down of AC is a major political event that will have serious impacts in security and piracy.

Walking onto someone else's construct is now an exploit
joaocordeiro replied to Novean-32184's topic in General Discussions
No its not. If you see a "abandoned" construct you can walk all over it and explore it, it being a base or a ship. But you cant stay there, by hidding or logging out. This means that you should not "EXPLOIT" this mechanic to cause harm to that player and his ship. You cannot use your logged out avatar to track a ship going into the pvp zone. You cannot use your inventory mass to cause mass issues to that player. In the end its quite simple to understand: if your action is going to cause damages to that player, you can be banned.... If you fail to understand this simple thing, either you have some heavy cognitive issues OR you want a excuse to use this exploit to make someone miserable in a non fair way. Either way, you should not be allowed to play. -
THE FUTURE OF DU COMMUNITY FEEDBACK Q&A - Discussion Thread
joaocordeiro replied to NQ-Naerais's topic in General Discussions
There are areas levels of wipe. 1 - Terrain+ore 2 - Constructs+container contents+territories 3 - Quanta+Orgs+missions 4 - Talents In my opinion the current ore model is unsustainable. We cant expect ppl to spawn on planets full of holes and have a good game experience. So i would say that wipe 1 (terrain and ore) is 100% garantied. With so many bugs and exploits, it would be fair to do a full quanta and construct wipe to make every one star from zero. Not even leaving "magic" blueprints. But i would also agree with a full wipe at release date ( drop database level) With everything you wiped, (including talent points) -
To tell you guys the truth i would really like to try this new added stuff (asteroids, auto-miners, missions) but i have a problem.... My NVME ssd has 250GB. And having DU + DU PTS installed + cache.... It would add up to 80-100GB. And i have allot of games to play besides DU. So if i get a new ssd and after this current things are upgraded to regular server, i will probably play it again.

I don't have any doubts about this.... There were several threads before beta asking for NQ o halt beta. Some related to PVP mechanics being in pre alpha stage, with none working prof of concept code. Others stating the still visible "pending operations" issue. Others like me stating the hundreds of unsolved bugs and the image that youtube videos would give to DU. Some ppl I know tried to help with the bad image that was certain to happen, by creating videos, trying to explain fun stuff to noobs and move the attention from the issues. But the issues were visible, reported, in the hundreds. NQ stopped responding to the forum and moved ahead anyway.
