  1. Welcome aboard. Nice to know we're getting more members! Welcome to the forums, Seduskie! Don't forget to browse the forums and check out the Devblog if you want to learn more about Dual Universe.
  2. Considering Minecraft's building block sizes are 1 meter in length, height, and width, I think we're better off than you give it credit for. The size of blocks in Minecraft never stopped anyone from creating masterpieces of detail and architecture. In Dual Universe, we don't even use blocks. We use Voxels. Voxels that are 1/4 of the size of Minecraft's blocks. We can make slopes, curves, spheres, and so much more. In terms of building limit, there is no limit. (According to JC). You can go as high as you want, as big as you want. However, you cannot go smaller than 25cm. The devs deserve a lot more credit for achieving such a thing. If you still are not satisfied, ShadowLordAlapha pointed out that we'll be given loads of 'Elements' to decorate our builds.
  3. Undoubtedly. Evolution is a natural process that can never be avoided. Even in the virtual world. Things will start, things will end. Things will indefinitely change.
  4. This is an excellent idea. One of the biggest problems with sandbox games or just games in general is the end game is truely 'end game'. Once you've reached it, there's nothing else to do. Sandbox games should be unending. There should always be something that you have not done yet (Unless you have spent your entire life playing it, which some people will probably do) I am totally up for this idea.
  5. Well, it seems like they are showing off a bit of everything. We've already seen the server technology and what it can handle (to an extent) We've seen building, we've seen how the voxels are, we've seen some lighting effects. Honestly, I'm expecting them to show us how they plan to accomplish combat next.
  6. Welcome to the forums, Sheldon! I recommend you check out the Devblog if you haven't already. Also, the forum is full of information about the game. Welcome again!
  7. Not likely. Creating in-game tools that allow players to create their own elements is very time-consuming and resource-demanding. I've actually asked this question a while ago and the response was Nope. There will not be in-game tools for custom element creation.
  8. What if when players join the universe for the first time they are put through the first sequence that we see in the short story written for DU. You wake up, the AI explains things, then you start the training to learn all of the basic skills needed. That would be a great tutorial in mu opinion.
  9. You are correct. The more advanced and fancy stuff comes later (If it is indeed coming.)
  10. Actually, they told us that the most basic customization to begin with will be simple basic suit color changes and the ability to choose genders. I'm sure they plan on adding more features and options for us later on. After the more important features are in.
  11. I'm afraid the earliest we'll be able to play is when the Alpha begins, and that is only available to those who either backed the Kickstarter to gain access to the Alpha or earned it by contributing to the forums and the game. (Such as myself and 49 others) Even if you did get access to the Alpha, you're not going to spend your time playing. The point of the Alpha is to allow a few dedicated members of the game's community (who have shown that they want to help) to test the game. To find bugs for the devs to fix, to test out features and playability. To suggest changes and improvements. Alpha's purpose is to improve the game, not for players to get in early and enjoy it. Sure, while you are helping the developers out, you will likely enjoy it. I certainly will. However, I won't be messing around, I'll be helping as much as I can.
  12. I have to agree. I myself am old enough to get a job now but I haven't gotten around to it for personal reasons. I'm not worried, though, because I managed to get into the Alpha just because I was interested in seeing this game succeed. By contributing. Hopefully, I'll be able to get into the Beta just the same way. I'll be able to pay the subscription by the time the game is ready.
  13. Eh, well, we already have the mini robot that follows you everywhere. Well, Kickstarter Backers do at least .
  14. Sounds like a great plan. I wish you good luck!
  15. I'm afraid the only contribution I'll be able to make (for the time being) are my feedback and suggestions.
  16. Sounds good to me. AI voices are already something I've been looking into for use for the faction I am part of.
  17. If I had the money, I would by all means. I'm going to have to save up for now, but even then I'd only be able to pledge around $20 AUD.
  18. It is a little too easy, I have to agree. However, this is a science fiction game. It's based more than 12.000 years in the future maaaan. By then, we would most definitely have more advanced tools than drills and hammers. The Nanoformer (the so-called "magic" hand) actually makes quite a bit of sense. As humans, our most useful tool (besides our minds) are our hands. So it makes sense for them to become the tool most used for construction. Heck, they already are.
  19. Dual is more construction and do it yourself. Inside a voxel-based universe. Star Citizen is a lot like Dual Universe only without the voxel construction. Until now, I've never actually seen anything about Star Citizen and only knew what I've heard, but by the looks of it, I'm pretty close to the point. A better comparison would be Star Citizen and EvE online.
  20. Part of the point of this game is to rebuild civilization after Earth has been destroyed. It's less about leveling up your tools and crafting new ones, and more about constructing your ship to travel to a new planet. When they say crafting, it's not crafting such as Minecraft crafting. It's more to do with pieces of a puzzle that make up an engine, turbine, oxygen generator, and so on. This means that there isn't much of a need for multiple building tools. On the other hand, it could work. If, for example, an organization uncovered an alien artifact. Perhaps our existing tool isn't 'smart' enough to understand and recreate the alien technology. In this sense, I'd understand the need for another, more advanced building tool. Another example would be a rare and valuable material. Our current Nanoformer may not be powerful enough to harvest this material, and it may require an upgrade, or even a new and more powerful tool altogether. Both sides make sense to me. Anyone else have any thoughts? By the way, welcome to the forums!
  21. You are very welcome, MasteredRed. We're brothers in virtual arms! I will continue to contribute to both the DUA and Dual Universe as best I can. Onward lads.
  22. Crafting... Do you even game, bro. Does IGN even gamer, bros.

    Creatures

The Devs have pretty much confirmed that there will be creatures such as animals and some kind of alien life forms to populate planets. However, they have also said that there will probably not be alien races that are as, if not more intelligent than humans. When I say aliens, all I really mean is lifeforms that are animal-like, but are new to us humans. (As we consider anything that originates outside of Earth to be...well, alien)
