Alright, gents (and ladies!) I'm going to begin work on our flag and banner. I may touch up on the new logo too, as I still feel it can be improved. If any of you have an idea or suggestion as to what you'd like to see in our logo, flag, and banner, please let me know via PM Here's what I'll be doing: Logo - Finished - Plan on improving further Flag - Unfinished - An alt version of the logo you'll find on a flag. Banner/Signature - Our current signature is pretty much a resized version of our logo. As a designer (in a sense) I could be happier. So I'm going to improve the logo, then the signature in turn. Again, any thoughts, advice, suggestions, and ideas are welcome.

Opening a new Empire, opening up for new members
Dominar replied to Slaxx's topic in Org Updates & Announcements
Another Empire? Hmmm well, The DUA will be around -
Yeah, it really does. However all they need to do is figure out a way around this then SE will be a great game.

What will be at the center of planets?
Dominar replied to yamamushi's topic in The Gameplay Mechanics Assembly
This sounds like a dream. (Que Sonne) -
That would work hand in hand with the system I suggested.

NPCs will no doubt be useful in a single-shard universe. I'm just saying I'd rather see a player selling me different items over an NPC.
-
Putting that to scale, WOW charges $15 a month. WOW also happens to be the most successful MMORPG in the entire world. So for DU to charge $15 straight up would be a little too much in my opinion. Something like $7-10 bucks, to begin with, would be more appropriate. EDIT: Something I forgot to add. WOW's been around for almost as long as I have, and it's over 30GB in content.

Looking good!

Question about energy and projectile weapons
Dominar replied to caravaggio2000's topic in The Gameplay Mechanics Assembly
I tried to like your post, but it told me my limit of positive likes had been reached. -
Touche. Guild Wars 2 is pretty decent.

Question about energy and projectile weapons
Dominar replied to caravaggio2000's topic in The Gameplay Mechanics Assembly
It has also been confirmed that there will be no super weapons. I also just found out that there will be no limit to how big you can go with designs and such. So building a Deathstar/Starkiller Base will be possible. Having it destroy star systems, not so much. -
My point is, this game is planning an economy run by the players. So the hopes are that NPCs won't be needed.
-
Indeed! Exactly my thinking. Though, there will also be safe zones. I suppose you could always fly to one. If you can't that's where this system should come in.
-
Exactly. All of what you said and more. Game Developers cannot just create a game that everyone wants. If that was possible then the game market would be full of amazing games. (Well, more amazing games). There has to be a fine line between realism and fun. Think Space Engineer's Planets. Everyone wants a realistic sized planet to play with. What the server wants, however, is a raise.
-
Thing is, Space Engineers sucks when it comes to that kind of thing. Also, most of the time you see Mechs in SE, they are not using any scripts (As is possible in SE). I'm pretty sure that if people use scripts to 'script' these mechs, they will work reasonably well. Compared to SE at least. If not for combat, use them for cargo loading

Hopefully, this is the case. For larger ships, AI is perfectly reasonable. I'm more concerned about the smaller ones. I suppose all we can do is wait to find out for sure.
-
This is perfect. I may check it out when I have some time.

To be honest, I was curious about this as well. I think it's pretty safe to say you'll be able to fight on the ground as well as in a ship in outer space. There's no military without a few personal handguns. As for Exo suits, if you're talking about them really big ones you'd see in Avatar, (Blue Monkey Avatar,) then as yamamushi said. Joints, hinges, springs, etc. Personally, I prefer the idea of being able to equip a space rifle and an Exo-Skeleton with flight capacities to battle all them pirates.
-
Personally, I'm worried. It's starting to sound like you won't have much control over what and where you shoot. How is combat going to be? Will it even be enjoyable if most of the work is done for you? I don't want to spend a couple hours designing a badass ship to then go attack some pirates and find out my guns have a mind of their own and they are not very cooperative, let alone smart.

Anything and everything I had to say about this topic has already been said so I'll just say this. (someone may have already said what I said, in case that is true, my bad) Due to this game being a single server for every single player to play on at the same damn time, I'd like you to picture how much keeping such a server afloat will cost Someone has already said this before me, but, with a single pay to play game, the devs get a massive influx of money as the game begins, then that fades just as quickly. I can understand why they chose a monthly fee, this would ensure a constant stream of funds to continue paying for the server AND motivate Devs to continue their great work. In the Devlog posted above I'm pretty sure they also mention that there is going to be an in-game item players can find, craft, or buy that gives you access to an extra month of play time. (for free) In other words, if you're successful at the game, you'll be able to purchase this item using in-game cash every month. Even if you're not successful, you have an entire month to save up.

That is no doubt the best definition I've heard for 'Early Access' and Crowdfunding. It's awesome to hear that for once, the latest and greatest of games don't have inpatient devs
-
I was taking a drink while I was reading your reply, I almost died.
-
Well, fancy that. I suppose it's for the best, though, having no super weapons. That would make the entire universe uncomfortable.
-
I'm expecting them to come out with their own launcher, then, port it to Steam as well to establish a large player base. Steam is very useful for doing just that, as it is so popular.
