  7. I'm US and had to pay in euros when upgrading my pledge the last round. US is pretty big market by itself so maybe it made sense to separate it out.
  8. It's only physically seamless, it is a gameplay barrier and there has to be a limited combat range. Planetside had orbital strikes, but that was an fps, only high rank commanders could use it.
  9. It makes it too easy for an attacker to go around damaging bases without any other purpose. And if defenders have powerful defenses, they could blow away non-attacking orbital ships just because they can. It's unbalanced, and to balance it you would need to introduce a bunch of arbitrary mechanics, when it would make more sense to just force attackers to come to the surface to fight.

    I think only for dynamic constructs. For players and static constructs, maybe ways to prevent detection but not full invisible cloaking.
  11. I don't see any way of balancing this, and I think it would be more compelling to keep atmo and space battles mostly separate. So if you want to attack planet side, you need planetary ships, just adds more to logistics/gameplay.

    Space telescopes

    I like that idea, especially for "scanning" potential star systems to probe and build a stargate to. Basically like what is done in the real world where they use different types of telescopes with spectrometry and interferometry to get info on other star systems.
  13. Makes sense. I definitely prefer sandbox. I get bored with and quit themepark games pretty quickly in comparison.
  14. I like the idea of inner territories being protected by outer territories, but only for non-secure areas. Instead of just territory mechanics, I think economies of scale, travel time, travel cost, and scarcity would be a better way to incentivize building outside of sec. I certainly wouldn't want to fly across the star system, or multiple star systems, every time I need to unload my container of ore. If refining the ore reduces the mass/volume of the product, that will be an incentive in building refineries remotely, and in turn markets and factories etc.
  15. I assume your concern is balance of the territory system? I think that should be discussed in more general terms at this stage rather than suggesting specific mechanics, otherwise it is just too speculative.
  16. hmm, if you could place and bury your TU underground, it would be basically invulnerable. If they somehow don't allow it to be placed underground or have dirt placed around it, that might work. I don't think allowing an enemy to dig in any way would work because then you could just have trolls who deface your land just because they can.
  17. The game content and mechanics are everything I expected based on the information NQ released in the past. The development progress is slow, but I expected that after following other MMOs. The dev relationship with players is better than average in my experience, and communication has gotten better and more frequent lately. At this stage most of the community are backers and passionate about the game, generally good. After release I'd expect it to evolve into something similar to eve-online's community, for better or worse. I played Elite Dangerous for a while. It was fun but I didn't get the feeling that I was playing an MMO, it was mostly NPCs and content generated by the devs. That's why I'm interested in DU, everything is created by the players.
