What utter nonsense - there are many issues with multi-platform development. One of the biggest is testing - you now have multiple platforms to test everything on. It is a significant investment and for a small team not usually practical. You also need knowledge and skills in all the platforms.

The other hard part of multi-platform is that you end up with lowest common denominator development, coding to the weakest platform. Just not an easy option.

As to Steam - like it or not it is predominantly a Windows platform - the 2020 survey had over 95% Windows, a few percent Mac and I didn't even see Linux mentioned. Bad example.

Shadow has the same issue - if it is not out of the box Windows compatible then it is essentially a separate platform that requires its own testing at a minimum. As there are 'thousands' not tens or hundreds of thousands of user then it is perfectly reasonable that it is not a priority until they get the mainstream system up and fully working. Sad for those on the platform but true. I also suspect you have not seen the last of the price rises.

It should be obvious by now that NQ is pulling numbers out their ass trying to shape game play with easy solutions, and at the same time not considering if the decisions make sense as a whole.

Whoosh. that one went right over my head... LOL

    As for the holes..
Solvable, like most problems... Just make a new ground element call them underground cores  in several sizes XS S M L that can be placed like static cores, or even make it a feature of current static cores themselves...and prevent "monthly tunnel collapse" within their cubes...
Send an email to all the players giving fair warning to place these cores.

Build then place these units around or under your base and boom... instant bubble of protected voxels.

Also they could have made the tools dig smooth tubes instead of making tunnels that look like large intestines...  That way they could have simplified the surface details and massively reduce the amount of information required to faithfully store them... as well as giving us more useful tools for city building or right click "smooth options" in the menu that smooth out the geometry of all the voxels in a large sphere....

THey could have given us proper, squared off geometrical "structural" teraforming tools that can make flat surfaces at any angle, not just ground, instead of pock marked walls that look like they have a case of acne requiring kilo or even megabytes of storage instead of a few dozen bytes.

    They all would have helped...

But no, they gave us a bunch of sub-standard planetary voxel tools which have come back to bite them in the arse.

I have been a proponent of Tier 0 materials for land structures since at least 2018.

Likewise, mining coal for wood, Tier 2 concrete etc etc.

my original threads in the alpha discussion channel got dozens of responses each. Hundreds over all.

this same point kept coming back by other people, too, again in the alpha forums. same dozens of responses, getting less over time as people started losing hope.

At this point in game’s progress, there really is zero use starting new ideas threads.

    1) someone has already said it.
    2) the forums are where good ideas go to die.
    3) NQ didn’t listen last time (or the time before that, (or the time before that, (or the time before that.)))

Still, I suppose it’s fine as a vehicle to vent one’s frustration.

    No.
    There are several why's.

1 - Players can be part of multiple org and orgs can have a near infinite number of players. Adding benefits just for joining a org would make ppl traffic org invites.
So ppl would not be on a org for their vocation but just to get the bonus.
Soon we would see orgs with the name "join me for level 5 engine boost"
And ppl could then leave and join orgs every hour based on what boosts they would require at that time.

2 - This would create a even bigger desavantage to new players compared to old players.

3 - The bonus is already there.
Playing in a org will give you huge advantages compared to playing alone.

Believe me, this exact discussion has been going on for as long as DU has existed.
We have this fancy nano transformer and just walking around we are surrounded by all the raw materials we need for basic building.
Water, sand and rock for cement and glass, trees for carbon etc.

I still play the game almost daily, but I love building and voxels.

key points: once you’ve completed the tutorials that tell you to go to sanctuary moon come back to Alioth.

You’re wasting your time on Sanctuary, basically. The tutorials are from a time when there was a (previous) vision for the game’s future.

And sanctuary has a shitty brown sky. I think it’s a methane world in Elite Dangerous terms.

as for cost. As said: 20 Euros is the asking fee. But for that you get 3 months access to the servers.

This is the cost of 200g of Angus steak a side of veg and a glass of red wine here in Tokyo, which I regularly consume in about 15 minutes.

in that respect, I find it extremely good value.

Yes, the proper way would be a ghost, like when copy and pasting.

but that probably requires a dev to do some front end coding, so I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Yes. Even if you parked your stuff right in the middle of a market place platform and left it there for months...

even if you were blocking other people from landing on the platform...

even if you haven’t logged in for a quarter of a year and others’ numerous constructs were causing players’ computers to lag and their ship to plummet into the ground and explode...

even if you left automated scripts running that cause players’ computers to act up and throw errors into the LUA session panel every time they try to pass by...

even if it’s plastered with screens playing Rick Astley on loop...

even if something like a corrupted voxel in your ship caused their client to crash to desktop every time they visit the site.

even if you pasted a randomly-generated, 24 character string that you could not possibly remember as your password, change your email address then delete the game from your hard drive... and swear never to touch the game again...

I think we don’t need disposable rockets.
Current liquid ones just need to be tier 2 since they have basically existed since WW2.

the rocket skills are also insanely “priced”. Isn’t it something like 3,000,000 XP to train rocket handling up to L5?

At least rocket fuel is a realistic weight, unlike the liquid metal our atmo fuel and space fuel is apparently made of on which bricks would literally float.

I believe it should be more like this:

wings brakes and hover engines atmo engines. and atmo adjusters T1
    atmo fuel T1.

Rockets, retro rockets, rocket adjusters T2
    Rocket fuel T2

space engines T3 space brakes, universal adjusters T3
    space fuel T3

    warp drive T4
    warp fuel T4

    anti grav T5
    anti grav fuel T5

Heavier elements are more efficient for ion engines. (i would have to research why, but im sure i already saw why some while ago)

But even if we could happily use H2 as ion fuel without any consequence, at most we should have rocket fuel at the same price of ion fuel.

And not this BS premium prices like rocket fuel is made of gold...

GraXXoR reacted to Zarcata in Insufficient possibilities for shifting static cores
Unfortunately, there are insufficient possibilities for moving static cores. By this I mean more precisely that it is almost impossible, if a building has several cores, to implement this via blueprint, because there is simply no grid to which one can align the cores. it is also apparently a matter of luck in which direction one then places the cores.
If this is not sufficiently complicated for you, you can also copy-paste the conversion, not only core to core, but unfortunately only set fragments of the content in properly sounded out cores. This is also time-consuming, as the size of the copyable content has been limited to a very small amount.
What is also enormously annoying is when you want to move the building "from A to B", you have to painstakingly dismantle each core by hand "when demolishing" the main location, and again it only works in small limited pieces, so that the dismantling alone is already frustrating.
I therefore urgently request that the options be revised:
-> To be able to dismantle cores completely via menu (The entire construction content then in the linked container).
->The core content is displayed as a preview when converting/aligning the blueprint and the alignment is displayed
-> A grid is displayed so that it can be aligned correctly.

    Addition:
-> to be able to glue several cores together via menu to a "Mega-Core" (As an example: I build a construction with 10 Static-Core-L, then I can "link" these set cores and they are listed as 1 MegaCore, the construction zone is shown as one MegaZone and no longer as 10 small ones; A deconstruction is only possible if one dissolves the linking beforehand.)

Not for the casual player that keeps loosing battles.

And you know what DU needs the most? Casual players.....
They pay a full subscription, while being online a fraction of the time.
They have a fraction of assets than hardcore players, making their infrastructure requirements smaller.
They attract new subscriptions to the game. As they spend more time with ppl outside the community compared to hardcore players.

I.e. they added even more time-gating elements that adds mostly unused weight during normal flight and makes your constructs look ugly.
