  1. Interesting work. Looks like this could be the basis for a full blown factory layout manager.
  2. 5950 has no benefit for gaming the 5900 can sustain equal or higher clock speeds due to requiring less cooling. So I presume you’ll also be using that rig for CAD or statistical modeling duties, 3D animation or something that requires a $800 cpu.
  3. I’d go for GTX1660 (which is basically a RTX2060 without ray tracing units and is thus cheaper) or wait for the 3060. the 2060 is possibly the worst xx60 card value for money you could go for.
  4. Yeah, Being in Tokyo, the downtime falls about an hour after work, just in time for me to finish eating. I've pretty much given up on this game for the time being. Between the server downtime and the bugs, I've hardly had any decent play time for more than two weeks. Also, being away from the game for such an extended period has meant that I've kind of cooled off. Like getting over an addiction. LOL Suddenly, I see just how much time I "wasted" on this game and kind of regret it, tbh... As an aside, the current bug I'm facing shows all containers as being empty, so I have to click on a slot where I think something is and move it over another slot to get them both to show up. I have to repeat this for every item in the container. Not fun.
  5. IKR... If this a beta according to NQ, they'll likely "laugh" in 2021 if they actually finally reach beta quality. LOL
  6. Who? Dumpeet? LOL. Just being their usual chirpy self... Usually on point, but does not suffer fools... This is their cheerful, happy-go-lucky face. You should see them when someone shits in their cornflakes.
  7. have you tried smoothing the area with the area smooth tool? If you haven't actually dug the ground, I find that smoothing the ground brings it all back.
  8. Ah, the old N-1 hiccup probably caused by 2s complement signed binary often has this issue. Whenever I build, the first thing I do is create a temporary frame that takes account of the discrepancy... I usually build the frame 1m or 2m smaller than the cube anyway (or more on an L cube) because you can guarantee that a year or two later you'll want to add an external light, an extruded logo or a deck with a plant pot on it. When I do that, I always build a single row of voxels to the edge then delete 4 or 8 voxels on the "even" sides and 3 or 7 voxels on the "odd" side. The edges should then all line up with the 1m thicker guide markers. Doing this tends to prevent nasty surprises two weeks into your build.
  9. any game with a real PVP component would have multiple signatures. "Real signatures" Surface Material reflectivity / absorption properties and other Visual signatures related to Crosssectional area EM radiation from electronics and Active Radar on board / Thermal radiation from energy consumption / conversion (yeah, I know thermal it technically EM) Gamey signatures might be Cargo signatures from elements or materials on board AGG signatures those big blue disks must be pumping out something! Core signatures these cores must be damn powerful! pure sci fi signature Mass distortion signatures based on total mass of ship or mass compression signatures from the container technology Onboard gravity signatures if the ship has internal gravity Energy signatures mythical quantum fluctuations ala startrekWarp signatures again star trek any of these with measures and countermeasures would make the game more immersive and interesting and ship design would be more than just paste a multilayer cube around it.
  10. I don7t think they have the balls to wipe the game again without MBPs... And nor should they unless massive swathes of the game are changed in major ways to prevent what would just end up a repeat. The only way they can level the playing field is to make resources effectively infinite. If they don&t do this, those with the headstarts who as was said above ground sleeplessly for days to horde and sell T5s to the early bots and make shedloads of quanta or fill 200 L containers with resources will have an unassailable advantage. if, however, there were some sorts of mechanics that would make resources effectively endless... such as resource extraction sites that require machines to extract constant, small amounts then it would allow future new players and the less hardcore players eek out an existance without overtly punishing those who used the manual mining method. this would also make land actually valuable.
  11. agreed, it worked so well for the borg and they had 1000s of races' technology to choose from... ?
  12. That is my impression... I believe that beyond flight and interaction physics, voxels and inventory and progressing server backend technology, they have not started on any of the higher level societal structure (beyond RDMS) or overarching strategic gameplay. It really still feels like early alpha, and the only reason it feels playable at all is more due to its sandbox nature than the level of development gone into it. Elite Dangerous alpha was pretty playable. The game had exemplary physics, a working Stellar Forge, NPCs were implemented (though weak), trading worked, proto missions were available (sadly, some of those exact same missions are still available to this day), equipment classes and grades, the basics of a crime and punishment system... And a sense of progression... From ship to ship all the way to the mighty Anaconda, or Jump to Jump to the centre of the galaxy, far rim, nearest nebula, etc... I don't want to compare the two games directly but rather contrast the states of development they were both in during their respective alpha periods. The elite "premium" beta came out, plus a final beta and then a conformational "gamma" was released during which very little added. Bugs were squashed, values were tweaked, assets were improved but the game was recognisable. This game has so many things left to implement before it's even concept complete, let alone feature complete. So I don't expect critical details to be implemented or even decided yet, TBH.
  13. JT is at it again, waving his tackle around and firing it off willie-nillie... Whetever floats his boat, I suppose. LOL.
  14. I don't see much civilisation building yet... One reason, is that Ironically, I think the claim sizes are actually too big. So big that one does not need to cooperate with a neigbour. The complete independence of these systems, requiring no power and no water to function and no arable land for food means there is no value intrinsic to each hex... unlike what seems to be suggested in the video showing the two countries colliding in "Now We Fight" trailer. Why fight for permanent territory, since once it's mined out, it has only vague value and a single, 1km hex can fit more buildings on it than any org would actually need? The lack of need for permanent installations and protection of assets makes this issue all the worse. Moreover, the fact that skills stop at Level 5, making one a complete expert in a skill in ~21 days regardless of gameplay, creates an "every man is an island" type players. I already have an alt that has pretty much skilled up every crafting and many industry skills to L3. Basically, he can pretty much build and craft anything in a factory with a serious boost
  15. perfect. couldn't have said it better. Many (not all) PvPers by nature feel the need to fight and kill in game as a kind of IRL stress relief; the same reason why many of us adults play video games in the first place. Yet they often lack the skills to go up against their peers nor have the desire to face a real challenge (since that's what many of them have failed at in real life) so all they can do is seal-club noobs/pacifists and whinge when the devs implement areas where they can't PK wantonly. Oh, and call them the pejorative, "carebears." Fairly standard "semi legitimised" online bully tactics.
  16. Leaving magic blueprints intact will make the situation WORSE not better. Executive summary: All the big guys do is spend all their "ill-gotten" money and use all their duped/T5 bot sale funded elements to create a bunch of L core monstrosities with all their assets on them. and boom, just like that, the "reset" has achieved exactly the opposite of what it was supposed to. OK, let me explain my reasoning. If they do reset, ostensibly to "fix the economy" then they're going to have to level the playing field again and do it properly by removing all assets from the game. The only things they should leave are Skillpoints (which as far as I know were 100% fairly distributed and unexplainable) and non-magical blueprints and maybe all the 100k bonuses we all received for logging in or even just a flat wedge of cash based on when we joined.... Magic blueprints are just another way that the current leaders will become even more entrenched, since they will bring all their "exploit-based" assets into the final GM release... And will use those assets to rapidly exploit the reset voxel deposits far more rapidly than anyone else could. TLDR If they do wipe to "make things fairer", everything that was exposed to exploits (including the broken market bots) has to go or it will achieve the opposite of a fix because big orgs use their MBPs to exploit the reset voxels.
  17. LOL... keep your panties on people! these are just vague comments. no point even beginning to mince and moan and gnash teeth based on such hazy info... Yeah, I know, I'll be first to admit being guilty of that myself in the past. ?
  18. Anecdotally, I enjoyed this game with a 4770k and 1080ti graphic card from the bitmining days of yore. it was janky at the market places but otherwise fine. if you can overclock your cpu a bit then as stated by someone above, a second-hand 1080 would be an excellent value choice to get you playing.
  19. Sorry, didn’t read past this point since I just want to address this. If you’re getting a headache from the blurred graphics, the issue is likely physiological. there must be a reason why thousands and thousands of people can play this game without issue but you can’t. As an aside, my wife found herself getting a headache while using her computer recently and complained. She went to the doctors and it subsequently turned out to be a brain tumor. She is currently recovering from the 7 hour operation. jus’ sayin’... if it’s really as bad as you’re saying, the problem is likely you rather than the game... hence the ineligibility for a refund.
  20. Weren’t loads of things locked back in the early alpha? L space engines, I remember, not being placeable by me at one point. A problem is mining is too fast because they didn’t want to do automated mining. they couldn’t make mining realistically slow since you have to baby sit each litre you get. so instead you get to pull in 200M3 per second per player. they should have screwed the ridiculous voxel based mining and just had extraction point mining with a low extraction rate that requires a permanent base set up to protect the resources. means logistics to empty the skips and bring the resources home would have to be thought about and that would have made resource supply lines and pickup routes a thing and made regions of the planets actually valuable and worth fighting for. the game is broken in that respect.
  21. Careful... suggesting something that frivolous which requires so much programming, will get you targeted by the white knights. ?
  22. I wonder if the ores will last longer than people’s desire to continue playing. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s starting to feel a bit burned out... I think my infatuation with the game is over. Recently been struggling to find motivation even to log in. will be even less fun when mining for scraps left behind.
  23. LOL... I just realised I have been basing my tile numbers on Sanctuary... Been here so long I forgot I moved off alioth... Then you can adjust my figures by a factor of 2... Turning 8 months into 16 months supply. Phew should be ok then ... probabaly many players will have quit before then, leaving more for the rest. Thanks for pointing that out.
  24. Please find me a tile on alioth numbered greater than 130k... I am having trouble even finding tiles numbered even in the 120ks... Why 600kl x 5 though? Also, Alioth is the biggest planet by a large margin... My entire "analogy" is not false, nor is it even an analogy. Please try to make sense when you're making accusations. I am of course giving a pretty much poor/worst case scenario... Also, just because there are only 10k miners doesn't mean you only share the ore between 10k players becuase they are mining for other people and not just themselves... And many just sell the ore for short term profits to the bots anyway, removing the ore from the game entirely... You seem very defensive all the time, is everything ok?
