  3. That sounds like the start to a survival game, which DU isnt AFAIK. IE we dont have to eat to survive....

  5. Hi Team The lore implies the Arkship hits Alioths crust hard and fast to embed itself solidly into the surface. Now the arkship is big, and heavy, and is built to take the impact, however the ground is not. Meteors that hit planets leave craters. So the question becomes will the Arkship actually create a 20km radius CRATER around it when it lands? This would expose low hanging fruit ores as well as give an excuse as to why its barren around the Arkship giving players a visual reason to leave the safe zone - "look grass!" Just a thought for the devs to think over Naturally comments are welcome

  7. Or what you can do is build static orbital platforms with, auto, but crappy targeting guns on them. Place them around the world and who knows maybe spread force shields between them..... and power them by sacrificing noobies on the DU Noobie Blood Power Alter (NBPA) ( NBPA element yet to be confirmed by NQ ) ......

  9. Players make the buildings... i would rage quit if the game ended my ownership of any of my constructs while i was actively paying for my subscription. That would be a horrible game mechanic.

  12. An idea maybe to not only return a construct blueprint but also have the voxels in redeemable form for later rebuilding. That way nothing is really lost as far as the player is concerned - just a little inconvenience. That could also allow NQ/DU to not remove the original construct but put it into a 'salvage' mode so others could mine/salvage it. Yes this would in theory eventually add to the total voxel count in game, but it would likely be minor overall.

  14. Im pretty sure constructs will be able to be damaged. You might not have the rights to get in through a door, or wall, but given the right tools/weapons you will be able to blast your way through. Just as ships can get area damaged, so will structures. So whatever you do, don't make your core defenses out of..... grass O.O

  16. This subject has been done to death in another thread. Ships will be ships and thats about as defined as its going to get in DU. Search it out if you want to contribute to it.
  17. I think that the size of the ship will depend on the average size of pilots/crew can be called up by an org. So for example if the org knew that they could always get 10 people to fly, and sometimes up to 100, then they may decide on ships that had 5 to 10 people to man, and just fly more of them as the numbers allow. This would mean that they could always present a force if needed. Larger orgs might be able to field hundreds of people, and so a fleet of several 100 person ships may be likely. So in a nutshell the larger the org, the larger the manned ships they can field - in numbers. It might also give people an idea of the trouble they might get into by attacking a single large ship with smaller ones, i.e. if they could field one large ship there are likely several more that can be called up for revenge.
  18. More languages? That would delay the release of the game further as well as potentially increase the chance of bugs and game/server crashes. Im happy with Lua - and I will program in it, even though I dont know how to - yet.

  20. Im pretty sure NQ will be the ones defining the game mechanics, not the players...... (thats not to say the players wont have input but the final say is up to the devs.) If you dont like the idea of being shot at outside of a safe zone then thats your issue. Be safe in a safe zone, thats what its for, go outside of a safe zone and anything is fair game - just like in real life. Toughen up a little. And a 20km area radius city is a huge city - could hold millions, just like in real life. I doubt if someone chooses to live there they will feel crowded, otherwise they would just move elsewhere. Remember that not everyone is a builder, I doubt long term more than 20% of the population will be builders as people will come to enjoy the environment that has been built. So space for creating builds wont be a huge issue. Remember, up is also a place you can build/test constructs, it doesnt all have to be on the ground
