i vaguely remember something in a devblog where you use a computer terminal inside the ark that lets you do different researches. and depending on the complexity of the research affects the time. im thinking like civilization research when i read it. im assuming that the early stuff may only take a few mins to an hr. then as you progress further into a certain type maybe hours? or im making crap up and i dont actually have an inkling lol. but if im even remotely right id like the research time to only be max 24hrs. or maybe you instantly gain the skill but have a cooldown till the next one depending on complexity of what you just learned.

Your right! Massive cities would only be useful for an organization to research. Maybe it should only be allowed by a bigger group. You know, this would also allow R&D members specifically doing this very thing!

Basic Info: I'll be managing the DUA and massive player bases in order to sustain my own stability and that of others as well. I am looking at other factions/alliances/guilds/corporations to find a compatibility of interests. From there, I plan to help sustain them and my own Alliance together.

Yes of course. Libraries are something we all use on a day to day basis. It makes sense for an industry tested library but it is interesting considering they specialize in tech and as such, are in position to make some of their own, not to say that they haven't.
 
It does as well give us some insight into what they might be able to do as well, which makes me happy to see a peak of what they are able to do.
 
Nevertheless, I am happy to see them using something industry standard and accessible to other people as well.

You know, I think food could be quite an interesting mechanic if you think about it.
As Darius already stated, meals would probably work in a cycle of about one per day when offline and a three to four hour when online. This would be a good balance so that players wouldn't starve but also wouldn't be comfortable. However, I will admit I see a problem.
 
This would work against some aspects of the game if you need to gather up a LOAD of food in order to even build. It needs to be balanced very well. An example is that if I build a large hydroponics basin, I need to ensure that it provides for me and my friends/faction. As I start to build, I need to ensure nutrients and it might get a bit complicated. Of course that is the price to pay for food.
 
I completely agree with Darius' standpoint on the matter as I think it's fair. However, I also think that there should be some way to destroy the need to eat when offline completely..... and that is why I have to discuss food delivery systems and cryostasis. If you were to be going offline for an extended period of time, you would want to ensure that your properly taken care of. Therefor, a food delivery system would be a simple idea, where it delivers the neutrients to your body in order for it to survive. The only downsides would be that it takes a food intake and using it would slowly degrade something such as your skills(or some other system). The other option is cryostasis, which would be harder to build being more costly, takes a fair amount to run and would just be harder to setup in general. The plus is that you wouldn't get degradation of skills or food.

Well there you have it. They went to the trouble of giving us more game footage in order to satisfy you. Ironicly, you've done something good, but the next time you stir up controversy, you might want to do it in a bit better manner.

While posting on another thread i realized that im not certain how the game will take into effect that we are humans and that we would need to eat and drink to survive. I think somewhere in another thread or devblog something was mentioned about going out and hunting after we leave the ark ship.
 
 
But i just wanted to get everyone's opinion on if they believe this should be a mechanic in the game or not.
 
Personally id like to see it as it adds a very intriguing level of immersion into the game. especially for long space flights and wars far from your home system

For things I think shouldn't work, either completely or partially:
 
- Long Range Communications
- Navigational Sensor Readings
- Bombs , or having them pulled out of the edges of the "tunnel" after a short period of time, as they shouldn't just be left floating around for someone to wander into. 
- Transporter Beams, I haven't seen Transporters mentioned but if they do make it into the game they shouldn't be usable during stargate travel.
- Tractor Beams

You know, I'm just going to add little bit more diverse range of discussion here.
 
The idea of Stargates is not new in any sense, and has countless theories. The ones we are discussion are currently theories, so I propose we start to expand on their possible elements.
 
An example is the hyperdimension travel in Cowboy Bebop. It's a simple way to describe it, but falls into a complex category of travel and logistics. During that episode it is seen that gates are setup in order to bend space time and travel "faster" than the speed of light. You are entering a plane of travel that is technically, non-existent on our plane of reality. You are moving in between the dimensions of this universe or transdimensional travel. In this time, physics of course would still act similarly to our universe, but due to being in a state which we are not yet sure of ourselves(no research done because we haven't been able to do this), we could expect a number of things to happen.
 
1. Our minds can not compensate for the change in things and we "instantly" travel. While we have not traveled instantly, ot us it is perceived. However, that goes against what we have already said.
2. Due to this lying in the realm of quantum physics, out reality might be warped and effects of our surroundings might change. ie. our ship chaning structural integrity, electronics not working properly, etc.
3. A logistical nightmare of stuff happens and it's too complicated.
 
So yeah. Even though we are more or less bridging across our universe, it would still technically be transdimensional travel in spacetime and cause an extreme amount of stuff to happen. However, I view some things still being able to work correctly, such as weapons, light and all these other things.
 
I suppose the question is, what do we know would work and what wouldn't work in Stargate travel. What might be broken or unable to work due to it?

I literally don't have to link subscription posts since there are so many. The subscription problem has been discussed and many have their own opinions about it. I personally go by some of the facts the devs have stated but I'll add a twist into it.
 
Many games go off a buy to play model, which has been discussed numberous times. However, this model is a simple way, which is its appeal, however it's also the downfall.
 
Let's say you go to your favorite club and have to pay to get it. It's a simple transaction and allows you unlimited access. Or let's say an arcade(those outdated things). many people may choose to play each game independently if they are only in there for a hour or two, seeing as there is no real reason to pay extra. When they do that, they only are staying for a short period of time. If a game is likewise free, they will of course play it. However, when you are at that arcade for an extended period of time during a month, it makes more sense to buy a pass, due to you spending time and investing into this arcade. This makes it less to actually play each game, while you still get enjoyment out of it.
 
This is likewise the case for DU. If you just buy the game, you're making a one time investment that will grant you full access. If it's free, you gain a large playerbase but no person cares about the game due to no money being spent into it. However, when you actively play and use a subscription model, you have an urge to keep playing and investing. Likewise, if you bought a pass at an arcade, you would be more likely to play at that arcade.
 
It's as yamamushi said, physiological and is defined in generally the same way. It just depends on what each person puts value into more or less.

Interesting reasoning. As we have theorized, a large amount of negative energy needs to be genorated in order to sustain a warpgate. Without the negative energy or lack thereof, it could cause the Stargate to fall short. As well, in my ideas, it could also mean that the mass of the ship may not be able to be carried. Let me give an example.
 
Negative energy is required to stabilize a warp or bend in spacetime. Without that negative energy, the bend may collapse or become smaller. In that case, the ships may have a harder time fitting, meaning that the size of the ship  and mass would matter in this equation. Therefor, if a ship was to travel, it would need to fit the requirements of this Stargate in order to enter and exit unharmed.
 
As well, your discription of the Hyperspace Gates in Cowboy Bebop is a good example. During that point, they were traveling between spacetime due to the Hypergates. When they encountered the exit gate, they had to move through it in order to pass back into the normal plane of existance, while the missiles were stuck in the existance in spacetime.
 
I do think your theory of stargate destructibility though should be changed. I have ideas about this but I'd like to make suggestions. Stargates I feel, should be built so that they can continue their energy delivery. Let me provide the example of stargate security. It would make sense to have some security behind stargates. As well, the way the stargates are built individually should be taken into consideration. Let assume that each stargate needs to generate negative energy in order to sustain the gate. if that generator is taken out, there should be some storage of negative energy in order to sustain the gate for a period of time. As well, it might be a good idea to provide extra storage for the gate so that it may run for an extended period of time. Then, I think the idea of the gate itself being destroyed should be next.
 
In all, this requires a large discussion of physics, quantum physics and spacetime theories in order to pull this off. I think the devs might already have some theories that are currently explored lined up to build their travel system based off it.

I would take this idea even a step further with visual information in form of a "strategic table" for the Admiral and HUDs for the Captains, that are updating their information in realtime or almost realtime depending on techlevel and counter measures from the enemy.
 
The strategic table should almost work like a strategie game, displaying the battle in 3D with various levels of information, such as health of ships, crew number, weapon status, engine capabilitys and so on. Simply all information gathered by all sensors of the fleet flow there together. Now to the commanding, the admiral should be able to place orders via the table, position to fly to or to hold, targets in various detail from just the bridge of the enemy ship to the whole thing, formation orders and so on. This orders are then send to the HUDs of the commanded ships, so that the captains know where to fly and where to shoot.
 
Yes i know a tool how i described here is very powerful, but there should be some limiting factors like the techlevel you have, for example you just researched the fleet managment the only infos you get are the position of your ships, their health, the enemys are just blinking red lights without exact position and the only orders you can give are "fly there" and "shoot there".
The next limiting factor should be enemy counter measures, like radio jamming and cyber warfare, so you could have the highest possible tech level but are the counter measures strong enough, your level of information is just so high as at the first tier of the tech or even lower. And even worse the enemy could hijack your signal and get his intel direct from your fleet.
The possibilities of cyber warfare, mentioned before as counter measure, aren't just counter measure it has also offensive use, from simply shutdown a subsystem to trigger the selfdestruct of enemy vehicle, of course its also limited by the before mentioned factors.
The possibilities are just endless.

That is a valid concept, but it also depends on what the devs are creating. For instance, the universe they are creating seems to already be procedurally generated already, and to create a planet generation system that generates a planet randomly wouldn't be difficult as well, so I don't see planet generation being as much of a problem.
 
However, as far as animals, creatures and artifacts, unless they all spawn in different biomes and are random, it would be impossible to not have the information available. As well, making some information, as I'm sure you understand, is impossible without infinite content.
 
However, your discussion about planets and stuff on them is probably fine, unless they decide to just go the easy route and do non-procedurally genorated planets, which is that is the case, I will be disipointed.
 
So yeah. Good thing to bring up and suggest.

Quite a nice faction. It's pretty simple the way the ranks work, which allows users who want to work their way up have an easier time deciding.

But to try and answer your questions:
 
1) PC is the priority at the moment, consoles i don't think are planned and other OS's like linux and mac are a wait to see situation because i don't think we know.
 
2) Camera will be locked for the most part in first person to help immersion in the game. There will be cameras though so you can view outside your ship while flying using them so if you want to have a external view of something you can set up a camera where you would like it. Third person i think is only planned depending on kickstarter goals and general community opinions.
 
3) Multicrew systems we don't 100% know, but we all assume that the roles you play in multicrew ships will be down to your own choosing. If you want a ship with 6 engine rooms, build 6 engine rooms where you can have 6 people working. We don't know the indepths of the elements yet so we don't know what the true story behind any multicrew actions would be. It has been stated though that there will be advantages to having multiperson crews.

Kyrule is an asset that expects to keep the citizens of the DUA in line and in order. Split into three departments responsible for Tax Collection, Justice, and Policing, it is truly responsible for keeping the DUA in line.
 
 
 
 
 
The ability of you to perform in this branch of the DUA means you have the ability to keep people in check, for better or worse. This branch is in place to make sure the quota is fulfilled and that no person can call that it hasn't been filled.
 
 
 
 
 
As a collections officer, you make sure everyone who is responsible has paid their part, As part of the justice system, you make sure that people are held to their responsibilities and can be tried on them. The Military Corps is a Category of organizations that work for the strength of Military. They are given the approval to be classified as military only once they are tested well enough. These organizations are not truly the DUA Military, but rather those that are certified by the Diverse Unified Accord to have the ability to operate well as a Military Force. The Certifications of these organizations are crucial.
 
 
 
 
 
From mercenaries to certain types of pirates, these groups are given the certification that they can be a fulfilling part of military endevors.
 
 
 
 
 
 



 
 
 
Under the Military Corps, operate the Military Core. The certified DUA Military Forces that operate in accordance with he Director of the Military Core. This group serves in order to maintain borders, give forces to expansion, and operate in the best interests of ourselves.
 
 
 
 
 
The Military Core is specialized, trained, and given certifications that allow it to become a large force to be reckoned with. With ideals defined right from the start, there is no doubt that the people invested in Military will always find a place where the Military Core can bring them in.
 
 
 
 
 
A use for the greater good of the Diverse Unified Accord, and order for the highest of standards, you will not be dissipointed if you look for the tur quality of protection of the DUA's assets. Hello There! Now why do I say main character? Well because you are the main character from your point of view. Anyways, I'm MasteredRed and I am doing an introduction.
 
Now, to my point of view, an introduction is kindof like writing down thing about yourself off the top of your head. So, here's what I have: Game, Computers, Programming, Role play. Yeah that's about it.
 
You know, I could write down something cool or interesting, like an action story, lore, or just something cool in general, but I think I'll use another approach.
