    I think that most successful orgs will be run by hardcore players. And most large youtubers do not tend to play hardcore in any game. Although their orgs will probably gain a ton of members, they probably won't be very organized & most of their members will play in hopes of being featured in a video, not for actually doing stuff in DU. I'm not sure about you, but I would rather be in a small elite hardcore org (around 20-80 players) that are able to calculate their efforts to complete almost anything, instead of a large unorganized org (1000+ players) owned by a youtuber who is just playing DU for fun. That's my $0.02

    PvE is not boring like Takao said. It really comes down to your play style and what you want to do in that world. A lot of PvP players feel like you do but a lot of PvE players don't care for PvP because they feel its a complete gank and grief fest. Traditionally most MMO's have PvP and PvE and in my experience PvE servers of the same game usually have larger populations.
     
    Dual Universe is trying something new and have a little something for everyone on one serve so things like people getting upset about the possibility of a small safe zone on planets when you compare the scope of the planets and the solar systems seems like a silly argument. You will have people that all they want to do is build thing which will help the economy and enrich the construction in DU.
     
    Don't worry PvP players there will be plenty of action for you because if you have ben following the Dev Diary's you know most people will not be able to stay in that safe zone for too long : land is very expensive there and you cant mine resources !

    Here is a (small) overdue update about the Lore:
     
    Lore Update (2 Oct. 2017):
     
    UMF (United Mankind Federation) becomes UEF (United Earth Federation).  From a Lore point of view, the testing phases including Alpha and Beta stages are considered in the Lore as virtual simulation run by Aphelia while the Alpha Team members are asleep (note: Pre-Alpha stage is not considered as part of the Lore) The in-game money will the “Quanta” (one Quanta, several Quantas). “Novean” is the term to name a passenger of the Arkship “Novark”.  
    P.S: regarding potential inconsistency between Nanopack rarity and the way a Player Character is resurrected, it's possible we will go with the solution "By naked, we mean, everything else than what you had before you leaving the Arkship". However, this is still in discussion. We'll keep you informed about the final decision

    Exactly right: It's going to be HUGE SCALE virtual world space.
     
    * Building and creating and trading and socializing and services are going to be very popular in such areas that have stability. The equivalent of the old out-dated pve-combat content.
    * The pvp combat will likely be big fleet battles on the edges of such empires, with dog-fights "anything goes" in the outer reach lawless rimworld et al. zones and new systems....... with new resources and whatnot.

    I wouldn't call PvE boring all the time. It's not boring when you have a challenge. Because programming an AI that makes fighting it a challenge is really difficult, most of the time that challenge comes from the numbers of enemies or their healthbar -.-
    I don't think that DU can be successfull without any PvE, because where do you wan't to get all the recources for your ships that get destroyed because of PvP? Mining? That would be a grind.

    This reminds me of a lot of strategic games and some RPG's and MMO's . You control a Hex / land area and even if you do not control the lands connected to your hex / land it still falls under your sphere of influence ! This works great in strategic / tactical games and could be used to keep a rival organization from putting up a fortress near your cities or bases ! I know some or all ready thinking that might be to over powered but its really simple in that the  sphere of influence doesn't keep some one from building next to you but makes it very costly so now you say how do I get around that if I am a ally or contractor working for that organization ? The organization simple has a function in there world map where they can drop the sphere of influence for that adjacent hex or use a contract and rights type system so now you are part of there group while still being your own organization.    =)

    Well you will see at the begining of the game, you will feel the peace everywhere, everyone help each other to rebuild CIVILIZATION and you found it might be boring as suck.

    But dont worry when people dont have a common enemy ( starve, poor, ...) and get wealth then it is the end of the stage called begining and war sure broke out, first will small conflict over rare resource deposit but it sure will get big when the resource is hard to find and people are getting greed in power and resource once they got enough man power and resource to expand their military.

    And then betrayer, civil war, ... will sure to happend.

    Yeah event with large wil lhappen soon but just not at the begining  where people have to find resource day and night.

    The Xray device is a cool idea, but it seems like it would add unnecessary complexity for Novaquark to develop and implement in the game. An having the ability to see into someones inventory, is functionality that just begging to be abused.

    The Metal Detector is a cool idea, but I would make it able to detect weapons, not just metal. basically an Element that if a player walks through, it will sound an alarm if they are carrying any weapons. An give the ability to specify which kind of weapons would trigger it. so like it can be set to only trigger if a person has a firearm, but not if they have proximity mines.

    I do not support any form of hacking, its basically a system that will be abused. Giving players to much access to elements in the game, and other functionality, is an open door for Trolls. Novaquark will have enough to deal with in terms of blocking Cheaters and Bots trying to abuse the game. Also, hacking cuts off certain gameplay mechanics to none programming players, and JC has been clear that scripting is meant to add to the gameplay, not cut it off to certain players.

    I still like the original idea presented by @Cronael , there is already a detection field type device in the game. All Novaquark has to do is make it able to detect when weapons pass through. This works best because you can link it to other elements, and have it act as a trigger. Example, link weapon detection field to an energy bridge, when a player with a weapon passes through, the energy field activates blocking there path.
    Weapon detection field can have so many good uses in the game.

    I think it's less an issue of surprise and more about what type of defenses are needed. Underground attacks take a lot of time to set up so you wouldn't have to build defenses against those types of attacks from the beginning. Meanwhile, attacking the "bottom" of a space station is just as easy as attacking the "top" and so you have to have defenses covering a larger range of angles. In general it just takes less to defend a ground structure than a floating structure.
     
    That being said I think space stations will be completely viable in this game because people will be willing to put in the extra effort to defend them properly. And inevitably, both planet bases and space stations will sometimes fall if enough people want it to.

    Manageable/maintainable, beautiful, efficient, and Modern. Architecture will be based on architects' decision, but good urban-planning will be the most important for us in terms of city. And divide the city into districts(district-numbers). 
    In terms of Architecture, building higher skyscrapers will be the trend in the future because we can get more open-space from that in terms of limited-land. We want the presence of flying-cars as means of transportation(others are monorails, and etc). 
     
    In terms of Architecture, I've looked at the city called Academia in Final Fantasy XIII-2. What they did that is so interesting, are the buildings have terraces even at higher-floors and they connect these terraces to another nearby-building's terrace by means of bridge. You can just walk from there to another building. No need to go down to ground-floor to transfer to another building (also, terraces at higher-floors are good ambience. Couple this with an open-bridge like what you see in the picture). This seems very useful in tall-skyscrapers and can be implemented. I want this building-to-building interconnections. Terraces are big enough that flying-cars can land and park in them.

     

     

     
    This, in my opinion, will be the ideal-city for me that is not built for the purpose of war. Activities can be done indoor, it's the future (we can have an indoor pool in there, an aquarium, hell, even an indoor-park/garden). This is my proposal.
