Well, it's a noble goal to warn fellow gamers of a possible scam.
But be sure to check the honesty of your source before following him blindly in his diffamation and misinformation speech.
There are some points that don't add up in the scam theory:
If we tried to scam and deceived people, would we opt for a monetization model where we plan to make a free trial before starting a monthly sub? Obviously, it would be suicidal to give access to the game, even temporarily for free if we wanted to scam people.

    On the other hand:
    - Bluedrake42 seems to present only information that could back his side of the story.
    - He hasn't even tried to contact us to check his assumptions.
    - When we asked some explanations on his Youtube channel, he didn't validate our comment on purpose (he has validated other comments, more recent, since then) for some reason known only from himself. Transparency seems to bother him.
    - The tweet pinned on his twitter account is self explanatory:

In short, he's proud to say that he doesn't care if he's right or wrong, if he's loved or hated. All he cares is visibility.

In the end, the bad guys are not always those who appear to be in the first place.
Not all indie developers are scammers, not all youtubers have good intentions.
Do not follow blindly what others say.
If you have a doubt, ask the involved persons before accusing them.
Indie developers generally answer to the questions.
In other words, make an opinion by yourself, do not just follow an opinion made by someone who has visibility.

    Best regards,
    Nyzaltar.

it wasn't my intent to come at you in a combative manner, if infact my actions were taken as such I will apologize. I have no desire from putting off a potential fellow ark traveler with perceived negativity of a growing community. I only tried to answer your questions the best I could with logic with what limited knowledge there is currently. your location says France so im wondering if there isn't some language issues between the native English speakers and yourself.

Criticism is perfectly fine, as long it is used in a constructive way, to improve a project. Diffamation on the other hand is absolutely not tolerated for obvious reasons. Could you clarify if you are here just to cause trouble in the community or to participate in a constructive way like other members?   Best regards, Nyzaltar.

    Hi everyone,

So it seems that BlueDrake42 has a vendetta against our game for no apparent reason (if there is one, we will be interested to know it).
As we can't remain silent against such diffamatory talk, here is our answer:
In this video, you can see that our battlecruisers are made with voxels, and arent' meshes as supposed in BlueDrake42 last video on Dual Universe.

    @Pittouniata:
Your signature and your posts will be edited as they are definitely inappropriate and diffamatory.
If you persist in this behaviour, you'll be banned. This is the first and last warning.

    Best regards,
    Nyzaltar.

Does it really matter? I don't decide if I will buy the game until the end of the Beta. Come on guys, its a preview of the most early stages of the game. Most of the people are offering some eye candy for a con like E3 in this stage will show up some creativity for a hot ironed video. That's nothing weird or unusual.

Calm down, ignore the troll and see what the next months will happen on the news and feature front. No sane gamer values a game by a pre-alpha video for a con.

While posting on another thread i realized that im not certain how the game will take into effect that we are humans and that we would need to eat and drink to survive. I think somewhere in another thread or devblog something was mentioned about going out and hunting after we leave the ark ship.

But i just wanted to get everyone's opinion on if they believe this should be a mechanic in the game or not.

Personally id like to see it as it adds a very intriguing level of immersion into the game. especially for long space flights and wars far from your home system

My thought was that it will discourage pvping to some degree. but not in a negative way. You would have to plan the logistics of long warfare for a large force or plan and build an agricultural ship that can supply the fleet. Which just adds another target during wars. gotta take out the agriculture ship as well as the one with the RN on it. But I see this as just another reason that people wont aimlessly start wars and such which i think people who are not interested in the pvp side may actually like.

My thought on the mechanics on your surroundings is that the suit would house a kind of camel back with water and it depletes at a certain rate at idle and while doing different types of actives it would deplete at a faster rates. The food part im not sure how that would be taken care of. i would assume that you would have to store food in your pack unless its processed into a paste that you drink through a straw in your suit. which honestly doesn't sound great lol

The_War_Doctor reacted to Fitorion in The Hyperspace Mechanics of Stargate Travel
I like the Babylon 5 Hyperspace Mechanics.

You have Hyperspace... and Jump Engines... and Jump gates.

Small ships don't have the power to use Jump Engines to access Hyperspace and must use the Jump gates.

Big ships can produce enough energy to form a Jump point (punch a hole in space) to access Hyperspace... But depending on their tech level may have to power down weapons to do it.  So they too often use jump gates.

It takes time to travel in Hyperspace... but it's as if everything is much closer so it takes much less time.  In Hyperspace there's all sorts of energy flowing all around and no reference points... so a craft could easily get lost... or get pulled along with the flow if it lost power to engines.  The Jump gates transmit a lock on signal so ships can navigate through hyperspace to their destinations.  Even if your destination is a system that doesn't have a gate yet... But if you go too far from where the Jump gates are you could lose their signal and not be able to find your way back... The Jump gates are what provides reference points in Hyperspace.

So if you want to make a place a destination that people will use... building a Jump gate there is a sure way to do it... and puts you on the galactic hyperspace map so to speak.  And if you want to hide... be in a system without a gate and have a ship big enough to make its own.

In B5 the gates are hard to make... They're government projects... or found as remnants of long gone civilizations.  But Easyish to destroy.  And when they go... boy do they go.  They aren't destroyed very often though... Because it would be suicide for the one doing it.  And if you could somehow manage to survive it... you'd be trapped there as odds are your ship can't form a Jump point.  Most ships can't.  It's only the really big ones... owned by governments...

i understand lol. i simply meant it as a thought for the devs. i was trying to type fast before i left my office haha. i just meant if someone is planning to play DU alot i would like to see NQ implement the same payment plan that psn xbox live and other games make it so that the more time you pay for upfront the more you save. Which gives some people the option to pay more upfront if they have the money but save in the long run

I think the problem can be negated with a subscription fee that is cost effective.

$20 a month is going to be a harder sell than, let's say, $15 or $10 a month. A lot of that has to do with psychology, and what people can compare the prices to. At $15 a month, that's a little more than a monthly Netflix subscription (which just went to $9.99 for the only-only streaming option). With Netflix, nobody is ever watching 24/7, but they see it as a reasonable fee to pay for the hours they do find every week to watch some shows or movies on it. I pay $9.99 a month for my PSN subscription so that I can play PS4 games with my friends online, and although you do get 2 free games a month they haven't been very good in recent memory.

I also think it's worthing taking the emergent entertainment value into consideration when thinking about paying for a subscription. You're paying to not only be part of a story, but to have a hand in creating one yourself. Which is something I don't get from many games, other than maybe Eve Online.

I mentioned in another thread about the subscription models that I think there needs to be an ability to gift subscriptions in the form of time codes to people, not only just the ingame subscription "tokens". There are many of us who would be happy to pay for a friend or two to play with us, who otherwise can't afford to play for one reason or another. I'd also like to be able to give away game time codes to people on Twitch, or coworkers or whoever.

Sometimes all it takes to get someone to subscribe and play with you is to give them a month for free. I always tell people that if you can stick with Eve Online for at least 1-2 months, you'll be hooked, and I'm sure a similar thing will be said about this game.

from what iv read or understand is that players can buy the item that gives the ingame time with real world money and sell it to other players. if that is the case then nothing stops you from just gifting it to a friend id believe. also if you are a successful trader or corp head you could always buy them with ingame currency and gift. it be an interesting dynamic in corps and other organizations to give out the game time tokens as a reward or bonus to members
