  1. "Welcome to Dual Universe. I noticed what you did there with the circle in the spiral...(was that on purpose?) I like it. Good luck with your organisation!"
  2. "I'm waiting for someone to spray paint a wall or ship with slang or graffiti painting. Perhaps, some street artists may find interest in the game. My vote is with the colour wheel. Buying paint is troublesome."
  3. "It will be--at least for the post-Beta release. They have two years, great developers and an excellent player community. Believe me, it will be."
  4. "I wonder whether whale oil will be labelled as contraband by...whom?"
  5. "Your idea of sensor arrays is good. A ground based, group-styled, overlapping system with each group having a kind of group-centre computer that submits data to the final computer for the organisation should be the last line of ISR--where an organisation or alliance holds a planet. The defence above that should be space based beacons. I propose that they should be cheap and easy to produce with a well hidden group computer that submits data to the specified organisation/alliance computer. The first line of defence, however, should be programmed drones and players themselves. This will allow for interesting espionage and make sure that you're not wasting resources on endlessly building intelligence gathering radar/units outside your enemies' borders. The reason for players to be the first line of defence is: satellites, radars, and other sensor units are easily destroyed once spotted, unless you want to waste money on building an advanced defence unit for every radar unit you have on land and in space, players are better. They are mobile, sentient and innovative. While there may be lapses in the first line of defence like down time and offline periods, an efficient network of joint security with other organisations or a well spread out player base in different time-zones will effectively neutralise the problem. You might wonder why I insist on the group-centre computer, yes? Well, to prevent DDOS, like lethak mentioned, a group computer will take the data and present it as one unit. Instead of having tens or hundreds of confusing reports, you will have only a few with the same amount of accuracy. I must stress that a group computer needs to be well-hidden--defence is hopeless for such things except you plan on having very few or foresee untold riches to produce and maintain them. "
  6. "Who doesn't? It's all good jest, dear friend. There's no offence taken."
  7. "It's a brand new Wild West. No rules apply on how to run your money-making shenanigans. Feel as free as you want!"
  8. Working on Photoshop. New Logo underway...

  9. "For one, never underestimate the power of the Aether. Two, there's still a lot of us coming and a lot of time to come. We'll build those cities and crafts. I just hope you can buy them..."
  10. "Do you have any designs in mind? I know a few clients desperately in need for something to set them apart."
  11. "Wonderful. These are close to the aesthetics the Aether is into. Not quite the cities we would create, but a mere stone's throw away."
  12. "Uh...This is quite the literary challenge...Could you please explain further? From what I understand, you want mini-games in outer space that bear no real consequences to the actual game play. You also want a mix (or a choice between) of rpg, fps, action and adventure...wait, scratch that. Mini-games may be possible, but I don't see how they will be played in outer space, perhaps in in-game bingo centres and such provided by the developers. It should be possible to create mini-games with LUA, provided that the developers allow for the needed groundwork. "
  13. "No! Leave it as it is! You cannot take back the stroke of the pen. What do you want to change? The language fits your personality and the fictional Twerkmotor seems to agree with the role-playing you. I vote against amendment."
  14. "I read this late, but it certainly does shed some light into your roleplay and name. Feeding both sides of the war, Captain Twerkmotor...You've gone round the bend."
  15. "I always trust the Captain to provide me with a reason to fall backwards laughing!"
  16. "Stargates should be "point to point" links not "point to points". The entire meaning behind a stargate is something like travelling through an alternate space or a wormhole. To have access to multiple locations, you may need more than one stargate in the same area. As for authentication codes, I think the RDMS will handle that. You won't be able to use a Stargate unless you have the permission level. The Aether and its allies should drop some in different points in Dual Universe for everyone to use. To secure your stargates, you could put the access level to members of your organisation only, by giving them the tags to access it. It will be wonderful to have "point to points" stargates: travelling long distances will be a whole lot easier and safer. This is all in speculation. If you or anyone else has proof that it will be different, feel free to correct my mistakes. "
  17. "Vulture Corp really is interested in maintaining order. I would second the idea, but I share the same apprehensions as the people above. A giant police force would be an Utopian dream or a totalitarian disaster. Who are the people going to be in charge of this massive force? Who are the people that are going to replace them? How well can the top positions be secured from spies of multiple alliances and organisations? Will politics, favours and blackmail hinder its operations? I want some form of order in this Dual Universe, even if chaos means fun. A little order won't hurt anyone much. However, I don't want another kind of ****ed Nat**** scenario where the officiating body is financed, run and hampered by its largest sponsors and powerful members. Do you have any set plan in mind to handle most of these challenges? If you do, I'll be interested in learning more. As for Alioth and/or its systems being neutral territory: That's the best answer so far. People will mess up and cause wars. That's why there are alliances. If any small organisation is afraid of being bullied, join a large alliance , wait for a few weeks/months after launch before you start playing, or find another way to secure yourself. In the long run, a group of alliances, may enforce a "No Fire" kind of zone in Alioth or its system, but for the first few weeks and months, it might be macabre for some people."
  18. "Not Indie Studios, I concede. You win."
  19. "Your idea certainly is an interesting concept that would be beautiful if added to the game. To be quite frank with you, this is not going to happen, not during the Alpha launch, Beta launch or even the game's final release. My apologies. The fact is that, the developers still have so much ground to cover on essential game mechanics, player requests, bugs and fixes, graphic tweaking, voxel implementation and script security, before the Beta launch and final game release. The time is so short that it just won't be possible to squeeze in cosmetic effects that can be done without. Personally, I'd love to see natural disasters happen in the game. We have done so much harm to Mother Nature that she quite deserves her revenge in an MMO. Natural disasters/ Space phenomenon could even increase as the player base and player activity increase in their own right: this will add to the immersion effect. But, I don't think the developers will do that anytime soon. Perhaps as an add-on in the future, this will be implemented, and I very much hope I'll be there to see it."
  20. "I'll answer to the best of my possibility, but, I'll still suggest you reference the FAQ thread and the developer's blog. Can you target someone a world away? Can you see someone a world away? Is your weapon's radar wide enough to cover the distance between you and your world? Can your projectile make it there without becoming a flimsy mass in motion? All in all, I don't think it's possible. The game mechanics are lock-on targeting and the developers won't have made provision for you to snipe someone thirty million miles away. Can you snipe from a ship orbiting a planet? Well, yes you can. What are you firing at? A player innocently carrying out his business? A structure? An industrial complex? We've discussed the probability of orbital weapons here. From all indications (which may be subject to change) the developers seem to be mute about the idea...Silence means consent, right? We are all hoping for something like that to be possible. But if it's a ship you want to use, you're going to need a massive IFF scanner and radar housed in or on your ship. The point is: keep your fingers crossed. None of us like shots from above, except we are the ones doing the shooting. If two planets are close together, can we battle them like Pokemon? No way. There's no chance that the developers would position planets so close together that you could hurl destruction from planet to planet..except there's a bug in the algorithm. Planets will be impossible to move as well, as cited by Dominar above. Sorry to burst your bubble, Unassailable, but planets will be unassailable by other planets. I hope I've answered your questions to a satisfactory level. "
  21. "Humour me. Many games were released on both PC, Xbox one, and Xbox 360, no? In the end, it's up to developers. I partially agree with your point though. Dual Universe, as an emergent MMO, is best suited for the PC platform. A large percentage of people that can afford Xbox Ones can equally afford computers that are more expensive and to hint at your point: better at running multiple processes. Some people might not create anything in the game, just fight and mine, others want to code, design and build. To each man, that which he prefers. To the developer, that which he deems convenient."
  22. "I'll love to see how much you'll offer your hangar for sale!"
