  1. You will be able to pay other players so if they went to the market or bought the contract, then yes, you could then pay that player for that item or if you trust them enough, give them the money, they will buy the item and then give it to you.

  2. Welcome to the Forums!

They have talked about fuel before and yes there will be fuel in the game. Each engine type will require specific types of fuel.

    "

...different engines will need different fuel types. So this is one example. You will have to factor the weight of the fuel tank when designing the ship and make trade-offs between autonomy and speed for example.

If you want, check out this video where they talk about building ships and how they will work. JC talks about gas tanks and fuel cells.

    Cheers

  3.

I thought the same thing. I have no idea of the description. Then it would be wiser to take 15 people to gather the resources anyway and drill the hole in chord. It is probably more beneficial to hire people instead of building a machine that is expensive and slower and requires a lot of maintenance.

    Or am I missing something?

You aren't missing anything but I do think it should collect resources or at least drop resources because when people bore tunnels, the dirt doesn't just vanish, it needs to be hauled away so the same should apply to in-game stuff as well. Maybe you can build a collector unit that is attached to the back of the bore to collect resources it passes over. Kinda like a tree shredder. The wood is shredded and shot into a big truck where it is collected and dumped.

And certain materials take longer to bore through as well as you need improved drill heads. Better drill heads, let's say 'diamond' drills quickly through dirt but slower through 'iron,' while 'iron' drill heads can't drill through 'iron' but can through 'rock' and dirt. As you find more difficult resources your drill needs to be upgraded and improved.

  4. A lot of people want variety biomes which would make sense but if you look at real planets in our solar system, most planets have a single "biome." Earth is really the only planet with a wide variety of biomes.

Taking this into account, I think it would be really cool to have planets specifically for certain biomes but also mixed biome planets here and there. Let's say you have a solar system with 15 planets. If you were to have 2-3 planets with 4+ biomes, 5-6 planets with 2-4 biomes, and the rest with single biomes, you could create a balanced yet realistic solar system. You could also have solar systems with specific parameters that cause more planets to be gaseous or more to be mineral rich which would be a cool environment to fly around in. As the game progresses, ships will become bigger, faster, and stronger allowing them to fly further and explore more planets. If all planets had a lot of biomes, it may become frustrating to stop at every planet only to mine 1,000 "iron" units, but if you need a lot of "iron," you are more likely to find multiple "iron" rich planets in a solar system with a sun with a solar radius larger than 540,000 km vs our sun's size of 432,000 km which causes more gaseous and mixed biome planets.

  5. Using wood would result in catastrophic failure.

Wood has moisture, resulting in violent ruptures. Which is bad.

Wood would also flake off a little, which you can understand that its bad.

Anddd since nobody actually sent wood into space (astronaut erections, anyone?), there could be a lot of other problems.

But I doubt Novaquark would implement this feature, so... Go ahead and use wood!

Anything is possible. If it is something they implement then I will pioneer a new era of space travel and build a ship out of wood. If I were to reinforce the wood and coat it in water resistant paint, maybe a nice dark brown, then finish it off by using only the finest of water resistant wood glue, I can build it to be water resistant so it won't rupture. Using this paint would also solve the problem with flaking as water resistant paint has a soft, rubbery cover that stays on top of the wood instead of being absorbed in like normal paint. Solved all my problems ;)  http://www.evergreenmuseum.org/the-spruce-goose

  6. I am talking exclusively about the user interface and everything about texts. No more, no less. In the game, the players will develop their jargon, it will not change.

This could be cool to test out and try and expand the communities knowledge. What is nice about this is that it brings the community into it instead of just having the devs do everything, could also help fix translation issues.

  7. Maybe instead of asteroid belts like in our real universe, there would be a push to occupy specific asteroid that float around. In real space, asteroids take specific paths around suns, so you can use these paths to map out stations in strategic locations. Would take a lot of work but could be the difference between winning and losing a batlle.

  8. The main problem I see with the idea of recurring patterns of pasturage is that in real life, nomadic lifestyles are based on giving the area time to regenerate it's resources (like the grass and trees), but in DU the resources won't regenerate. So you could stay at an area for a while until you've mined most of the resources and move on, but when you come back that areas still going to be just depleted as it was when you left, so why come back at all? It seems to me that the real nomadic lifestyle in DU would be to just keep moving on and never returning to an area. Of course, since it is designed to be difficult to advance between systems that would mean you would either spend lot's of time travelling between systems or building stargates.

Now, how would this be translated into Dual Universe? I can see space-faring nomads here primarily because of the voxel-creation process. In Dual Universe, if you think of it you may very well be able to build it. Even ISS Wandering Mountain is on to this idea with a mobile station of sorts. Space-faring nomads will need 'pasturage' that can likely be found in asteroid belts, rather than planets, for easy access. Planets will have their uses for resources but asteroid belts will be far more accessible and less compromising in terms of combat(and maybe the gravity well will be a concern too). Asteroid belts may also vary in terms of what sort of ores and resources can be harvested. Maybe gas giants can be 'skimmed' for compounds in volume by nomadic skimmerships.

Just like Void and ATMLVE said, any Nomadic Org would need to be very well protected/guarded, and would need to keep moving in a forward direction. The issue with this is it would lose the title "Nomadic." You would just become a small organization that survives with a single ship. No matter what, your progression in the game, instead of a repeating circle, would be a continuous line away from Alioth.

  9. I would imagine that safezones will probably appear somewhere around once per 2-10 systems as they have stated that they want them to be quite rare.

This is cool but I do think they should be quite rare like they said, maybe even rarer. If they implement too many of these i feel like they will be used and abused way too much for all the wrong reasons.

  10.

This is not optional, this is not a choice, this is a requirement. NQ said that there wouldn't be voxel recognition of ramming but that does not mean that you should take no damage. I think the idea that your ship's components take damage instead of the actual structure makes a lot more sense.

This a exactly what they should do. When you collide with any object, you components take damage and when they take too much damage, they fail or malfunction or disappear, giving the illusion of real damage. No collision/damage in a game like this would be ridiculous

  11. It would be interesting but with the official launch (where you would use DACs) so far away, it would be a bit weird but could also be nice. I don't know about the subscription, but if they opened it up so DACs cost X, you can just buy 5, or buy 6, or buy 2, or however many you want whenever you feel like supporting the Devs. For the time being, you may be able to email them to ask about just straight donating, maybe buying DACs, or create a new account and buy that account a pledge.

  12. The engine features are looking amazing. It's cool that based on where you place it, the effects on the flight will be more realistic. The nanoformer also looks amazing, it seems a lot more immersive and instead of HOV on the screen, it's a cool way to immerse more into the game. Keep up the good work guys, can't wait for alpha!

  13. Will this be a non-profit, where the earnings go all towards the prize or would DICE get a cut of the money earned? Going along with this, are you intending on paying royalty on using space that larger Orgs have built? Are there requirements for a space to be viable for whatever event you are running and would DICE "control" that space while they rent it or would it still be overseen by the original Org?

  14.

    Yes and no.

    1. Define date with the boss and the framework you want to show. It is enough if you show ingame footage and make a moderated Q & A.
    2. Download Open Broadcast Software and read this guide:
    3. Expose it as you build the "hype" around your stream on your social media channels.
    4. Enjoy the streaming. Calm down. Answer the questions.   :)
    5. ???
    6. Profit

On the one hand we have the Q & A thread, which concerns only the existing members. In an open channel you can reach everyone and everyone can ask questions. If a question is still too early, you can say "It's too early." What is the next question?

And I'm pretty sure that is less elaborate than selecting specific questions from the thread. Time saved and the world informed. It lets you kill two birds with one stone    :)

I mean, I know how to use twitch but depending on their computers and setups, I can be difficult to work, running software, and streaming to twitch. Playing a game and streaming is different than programming, game design and streaming. Although twitch is easy to use and set-up, you need to maintain everything, good connection, computer capable of handling everything. We don't know what they use. If it was just filming them that would be one thing.

They also have a lot of different work to do. Streaming stuff for an alpha is not top priority unless they want to push back alpha release, put in more hours, or hire someone else to work on that and nothing every runs as smoothly as you wrote it.

  15. I think as the devs work hard to get the alpha up they are very, very busy. Setting something like this up takes a lot of time and resources but after Alpha release, I think it would be a great idea. This way they have taken the first step towards release and now have a bit of a cushion. Granted they may have even more work as they bring new ideas into the game and fix a lot of the bugs but I hope HQ sees this and comments. It would be a really cool way to bring more attention to what it will look like and how they have designed some of the game mechanics.
