  1. You'd honestly think they'd learn by now .... Cheaters never prosper.
  2. Those are some very powerful cons, and why I think this should not be a part of death mechanics.
  3. After a few google searches that I am not proud of, I can confirm that Rule 34 even applies to doorknobs .... *Washes mouth with soap*
  4. Well ... If that is what I have to do to maintain my outlaw status .... *licks doorknob* For Evil!
  5. True. So many things get lost in the endless blackness of the void. That's why I am here to lord over it, to pluck back that which is lost.
  6. I think it will probably be like EVE, where only a few people roleplay hardcore, but the general environment is conducive to it. If you think about EVE, even just general statements about the mechanics are not immersion breaking: "Grr, I need to go move my clone from Luse to Ranielles.", "I'm trying to scan down a wormhole but I may need to add more scanning equipment to my ship." "I need to get some new implants." All of those statements are both a reflection of the ingame lore and the actual mechanics, so people don't need to be trying to roleplay to be able to roleplay a bit.
  7. This is essentially what I meant. And the advantages of land ownership is not quite in balance with the difficulty of attaining it. This makes it so that people who get the land are able to use it to propel themselves much further in the game, thus making it much harder for newer players to "catch up" so to speak. I suppose I should also mention that my experience level with the game is rather small, so someone who played more might have more in depth analysis to offer.
  8. Like others have said, it's because there is the lifetime subscription.
  9. I think you have that a bit backwards Anyways: Archeage. A really cool concept of a game, and relatively similar to DU in some aspects. From my experience with it, it suffers from an awful lack of balance in some area, particularly with land ownership. DU needs to avoid this by properly balancing the ownership system, which will be challenging to do. I have faith in them, though.
  10. This is one of the things I really hope they add in. It would make the game so much better.
  11. I think the several month figure was for reaching other solar systems. If I recall, JC mentioned in one of the interviews that to create a basic ship would only take a few days of work, so even if that is a fairly optimistic estimation I can't see it taking more than a week or two for the first ships to reach orbit.
