  1. Thx Bran, awesome chart. I think we got over 650 total so far.
  2. Hi Dygz, re: Revival... perhaps they had a good handle on development but someone in the marketing or finance division went on a bender. Those guys crashed and burned so hard last May. A fair amount of ppl purchased some of those virtual houses with RL cash. What a mess that was. Too bad cause I thought that game looked pretty dam cool. Most of the fans ended up over at CoE. re: Agile... Newer MMO shops by necessity migrated to changed SDLC approaches and perhaps NQ is using Agile as their methodology. I think you are so spot on with Kickstarter as a PR tool. I had that in the back of my mind as well. It would make sense judging from the kind of shop they are, ie. they really seem to know what the hell they're doing. They have recruited some really good people. One example is Benoit Pothier running operations. 10 yrs experience in managing start ups, MBA, Masters in Engineering, Project Management... etc etc. You are probably correct about ship-to-ship in the latter stages but it's still a major gamble if they don't handle the market perception correctly. I really admire these guys for taking such a big risk with new technology and tweaking it in with whats available to us now. It's one of the many things that just gives me a strong (positive) gut feeling. They quickly got the attention of everyone including u-know-who that just raised 100 million last December. :/
  3. A formal welcome to you Simon from one newb to another. Someday we won't be. It's nice to know you. btw, CaptainTwerkMotor has agreed to make Little Pony's out of voxels for you.
  4. Hi and Welcome Archonious. A few years ago I made an attempt to learn the Russian language for some projects I was involved in. Lets just say how grateful I am for google translator. lol. Nice to see you here in DU. I wish you well and good fortune.
  5. Hi Peregrin. Nice work and best wishes with your project. It's great to see more news sites!
  6. Thank you for hosting this and for the heads up this morning on Discord.
  7. We like you too. Best wishes for a successful recruitment.
  8. I had to leave bout half way through this morning's interview and was really happy to see this post. I just finished listening to the full summary and Kane, you did an awesome job! Very clear, to the point and I think you must have a good mic! Also, I have a really good feeling about JC. I've watched all his videos (listened to his interviews) and he comes across (as you said), very honest, down to earth and most importantly, transparent. He doesn't bullshit and he really listens. Investors see through BS and the character of the team and company, which carries just as much weight as the product when it comes to decision making. It's also especially interesting to see someone with a background in robotics and AI transition to this kind of a project. One thing that stands out to me (outside of this morning's chat) is the low amount of capital (500k) they are shooting for in kickstarter. Either it shows they are already heavily financed privately, or perhaps they are a wealthy group and have invested a ton of their own money. I find it hard to believe that they are low-balling what they need. Perhaps an abundance of caution and feature expectation. Who knows. *shrugs* Software Development is REALLY expensive. 500k won't even cover a year of salary for a team of 24. There have been other start-ups on kickstarter with lower ambitions that have raised twice as much and beyond with little sweat. I think they will exceed their goal tho. I guess the biggest surprise of the Q&A for me was the admission of no ship pvp at release. (unless I heard that wrong). If so, I think it's a gamble. This is a tough business to be in. Tech is changing so rapidly that perhaps it won't be an issue in 2018-19. Also, thank you DUExplorers for hosting the Q&A on twitch. Well done guys.
  9. Perhaps it should be like what you get when you step off a cruise ship. Vendor's, low life, etc. Maybe recruiters for various causes screaming the loudest about why you should quickly join them for safety or otherwise. I'm sure it will be a sight to behold. I'm optimistic that a city will rise up around this area. "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious." Obiwan
  10. Ha, that was very cool. re:Twitter... took me awhile. Just think of it as super short bursts of sometimes useful information.
  11. I'm usually running a playlist from my favorite composer Jeremy Soule. And what about you Anon?
  12. Hey Welcome Gingernaut. Very nice to see someone as a result of Roberts post. I'm very new here myself and still going through the Dev Blogs, etc. Both games are at the top of my list. (incl CoE). If you happen to come across a Time Accelerator, please let me know, k?
  13. Hi Sheldon. Nice to see you here! Get the rest of the gang in here too!
  14. Bonjour Neosphaler, witcher3 is awesome. Im having a blast with it and im also a backer of chronicles of elyria. Im also new (most of us here are).
  15. Hire me. Ill protect you for a very small % of what u mine. Just look me up when u get started. Find the nearest cantina and ill b the one sitting in the back booth playing cards and wearing wornout leather. Ignore the big hairy beast. He's harmless.
  16. Hell yea, chose the gold with no hesitation. Only the 2nd game ive ever backed. The other was chronicles of elyria.
  17. How many ships could a tow ship tow if a tow ship could tow ships. I have no problem with no wheels. Where we're goin... we won't need roads.
  18. The BlockChain. I threw myself into cryptocurrency awhile back, reading everything I could, playing the crypto markets, etc. Ethereum is an interesting one. Often wondered if crypto could be useful as an ingame mmo currency.
  19. This ^ If anyone played swg... they had cool planet bars where there were entertainers (an actual profession in the game), drinks, music... etc. It was fun. Trading posts... bars... I'm there.
  20. Cannot imagine anyone being opposed to this except a dev who has a million other tasks on his/her development hit list. I'll bet these guys will do it tho.
  21. For me it came up on a twitter feed... in other words 'out of nowhere'. lol
  22. "There is certainly quite a few similarities between what Dual Universe and Star Citizen are both aiming to achieve, but that’s not a bad thing! Space games are not a zero sum game. Different games, even with similar feature sets can have wildly different sensibilities and play experiences. Choice and a little friendly competition is always a good thing." But jeez... am I going to have enough time to play both... Thank you for the link gutter. Very interesting and unexpected.
  23. Long time sl player here too. Did some house object scripting. Im a dev in rl and messing around with LUA. Have to admit this is a huge draw for me. There are so many parallels im thinking of here, some of which u mention like property scripts, security orbs, etc...
