  1. I came for the building and exploration. The progression (mining, industry, expanding abilities and holdings, engineering flight, exploring planets) has kept me playing.  PVP is not off the table either, but I’m not there yet.

“Something to bitch about” should be one of the categories though. The fact that so many people who aren’t happy at all with this game are  PLAYING ANYWAY is interesting.

  2. I have 3 tiles of T5 on Jago, I think the payback is a couple of

months, I did the math but don’t remember now. My lower tier operations are already in the black. My idea of a mining base is a couple of containers and a surrogate pod, and MUs of course.

edit: Now that I think about it it’s only 2 tiles that have Columbite, at like 30l/h and it’s still going to be in the black soon (helps I’m getting 200 something petalite from 3 tiles there)

  3. 7 days is short. I could have a rough couple of weeks and not log in (unlikely but possible).

That reminds me -I have a ship parked at the market in Sanctuary that I almost forgot about...

90% of the market clutter is franken-speeders that need to just go away, but there are some one-off works of art, L-core monsters that cost a fortune to build etc. and it would suck for people who are on a short break to come back and find them gone. That 90 day wait on un-subbed players otoh is more than fair.

I think a longer initial wait would be better, then after the big cleanup, a 7 day timer would be .. this has all been said. I agree.

    Related story:

One of the org mates from a tile I requisitioned during Demeter came back and found his Org HQ under new ownership.. I had already merged my HQ with it and spent a couple of weeks moving in and restructuring things. I didn't offer to give it back, but I was apologetic -and he was polite.. It was awkward in the least - I had sworn that up until the time I started moving in I would hand it back over if anyone showed. Then they showed up two weeks later than that. I wish the delay had been longer. So does he I'm sure.

  4. I don’t think this game is ready for release -not with the level of tweaks we are going through. I’ve seen a game get released unfinished before.. all the players that won’t play a game during beta? They won’t tolerate an unfinished game either. Anyone remember Vanguard SoH?

To the thread title: YES. I would happily pay $15 monthly for the game in its current state. My entertainment budget is still far less than that of the average non-gamer. If charging more money solves some of the problems NQ has been trying to address, I am on board.

  5. Solo/Duo newb here, 3 months in. I know The taxes are a real stumbling block for someone who doesn’t have their feet under them yet, but the daily login bonus by itself covers one tile. bought our MUs one or two at a time.

Demeter definitely changed my plans, no more earthworming for easy $$. So I’m not doing industry. I actually took over an abandoned factory, but I don’t see ever having the ore input needed to run it -but that’s another story.

My wife and I play together and have mining units on 6 tiles. I work 40-50 hours most weeks, sometimes more. No problem keeping up with calibration, paying rents out of it, and still getting my building itch scratched. The teamwork helps, makes it more fun for sure, but my point is that it’s not slavery, and you don’t need an org to have fun in this game.

I think maybe you had unrealistic expectations and got disappointed by them. It does suck to see how people used to get rich off easy mining and realize you aren’t going that route, but there’s still plenty of opportunity -just a longer windup to it now.

  6. If anyone has read "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson, I think the Metaverse was his idea first (1992).  Stephenson's Metaverse was 3D VR space that people entered via terminals, was complete with digital streets and buildings, animated adverts, etc. run by a company called the Global Multimedia Protocol Group, in a future where everything is a corporate franchise.

After a quick review of the related site content, I think they got the idea from Neal, but are trying to coat-tail on the new godawful tacky iteration of the concept.

If anyone hasn't read Snow Crash.. they should.

  7. Overstim: What weird bug? 0.o

Jake: Unless they overlooked that when they coded in the requisition process. I know very little about programming but I do know it only does what you tell it to.

I am going to do the org thing but I'm going to wait till I max out my cores first so I can see what happens.

  8. So no one knows -here anyway.  I guess I will form an org, (just my wife and I playing as a team so far).

It wouldn't matter if I was just going to tear it all down, I could stagger it, but I am planning to keep most of this base intact. It's too bad some of these exceptional creatives  left, but that's another discussion.

I have another tile I salvaged that's butt-ugly. I can't wait to tear it down.

I will let you all know how the core requisitions go unless someone else does.

  9. Hey folks,   -Does anyone know if talents restrict how many static cores you can requisition? I found an abandoned tile with 20 or so cores on it. I have core unit upgrades 4.

I wonder will I be able to requisition all 20 something cores? They are already placed, so is that going to invoke a restriction, bypass it, or create a bug situation? Anyone know?

(Pardon me if this has already been addressed, I searched and did not find an answer.)

  10. Well, that's news to me. SNR is kinda high around here.

It's too bad they aren't aiming for a purge of abandoned constructs though. Lots of tiles might have decent resources under them which will stay untapped -not to mention all the abandoned stuff that will just remain clutter for the indefinite future. Seems farsighted and unfortunate.
