  1. - tutorials still sometimes broken, trapping new players until they figure out how to skip steps. You'd think NQ would care about the some of the first things players experience in the game, but still can't figure out how to make functioning tutorials... Edit: more details --
  2. glad you are once again free kind of silly to leave tutorials broken -- people have had issues since the start of "beta". I remember getting stuck for a while too, was one of the worst first impressions of any game i've ever played.
  3. sure, that's really optimistic and i love that personally...i'm not convinced that DU will ever get to the point where they need to balance it. for as long as it's been in dev...digging, building, and combat still don't work at scale (even at this scale). people are still having issues with voxels vanishing or reverting to weird states. "pending operation" is less common but still happens, and I'm definitely not convinced it works at scale. Combat still has lag issues. there was a time where i thought these issues would be easily worked out during 'beta'...but i'm not at all sold that they will ever get even the most fundamental parts of the game working in a way where they can be a foundation for actual content/features that make the game interesting. edit: case in point, i just got their NL about 0.24 and one link doesn't even work. they forgot a ":" in the URL -- https// isn't correct. their employees are so over their job they don't even care to test links before doing an email blast. so yeah....
  4. no matter how many voices are telling them to do something, it is NQ's responsibility to make a choice. they are the "professional" game designers/developers. it isn't that they are "primarily" responsible, they are 100% responsible. there's literally no other power that controls what is or isn't in this game. i hate this idea that you can blame players for decisions that NQ makes, like they are helpless against some almighty Machiavellian influence. it makes no sense in the context of NQ's communication or culture -- they don't listen to players, they don't communicate with players, and according to some accounts they don't even listen to their own employees...which considering the state of the game and several high-profile departures, I completely believe. it's like NQ is rotten at listening and communicating...except when they make some changes it is because they "did what some group of players wants". it's also a kind of survivor bias -- for every suggestion that ends up in the game there's dozens of others that don't the reason DU is failing is because NQ isn't a skilled developer. that should be obvious based on the pace of dev, inability to fix bugs, and overall horrible state of the tech after 6+ years.
  5. to be fair...this AI isn't very good at their job. "yes, must re-create civilization...now wake, my humans, and go forth with no laws whatsoever to slaughter each other in the name of re-creating civilization! Carefully planned hexagonal property lines shall be our only law!"
  6. Unigen2 has a 64-bit coordinate system...so could go pretty darn far before hitting limits.
  7. Lame. What sucks is that it seems to affect people with larger constructs. Unfortunately, you can't solve the problem. Game just doesn't work sometimes, haha. There's no idea when NQ will come around to offer a fix or if they ever will. Unfortunately, NQ doesn't put much priority on supporting paying customers. Just how it is.
  8. probably against the rules, but fuck it....Valheim is fantastic. shows how important it is to have a quality game design and experience, not jumping into your first ever game project with no plan and no vision. they spent half as long making Valheim with 1/10th as many people...and will probably sell 10x as many copies as DU will ever have players. I get that it is exceptional, but really drives home how bad NQ is at game dev, haha.
  9. - building: not stable, voxels still not working correctly for some players - PVP: not developed, not even fully designed, and combat is hella boring when it isn't a lagfest - mining: still not performant, still a monotonous mole simulator - politics: the most political thing in DU is people flaming each other in the forum or discord - economy: haha, that's a good one So yeah, I get where you're coming from, but there's a laundry list of fundamental issues beyond the balance of PvP as it exists today. most of the core PvP concepts aren't even close to being developed, never mind balanced.
  10. yes daddy please arrest me, i'm game for that sort of RP. ?‍♂️ I'm fine getting warnings or bans for my shitty attitude, but at least my BS wasn't directed at a specific person. NQ can handle a few "fuck yous", they've earned 'em. They'll let some exploits go without any response -- giving some players a massive advantage and sending a very clear message: if you don't use the exploit, someone else will, and they likely won't face a penalty. following the rules for the sake of following rules is for suckers -- if NQ doesn't want to enforce the rules or fix the same bugs they've already "fixed" once, it should be the lawless free-for-all crapfest they want it to be. i'm sure there were people that saw the schematic price bug and did the honest thing -- reporting it and not taking advantage. what did that get them? nothing but regret. they effectively punished the honest and rewarded exploiters. if NQ wants to make something "not allowed", they should actually do that by fixing the game (again) or have a consistent policy for dealing with exploits.
  11. Don't let them keep that money. Contest the charge with your credit card company. They tend to give subscription-type billing much higher scrutiny. I expect Xsolla will try to contest and say the charge is valid, but give your credit card provider as much information as possible and hopefully they side with you. At that point NQ will have to pay a fee, too, which will hopefully raise some eyebrows and get them to fix their awesomely shitty billing system.
  12. NQ has made it really clear that forum rules aren't really a thing, unfortunately. there's not any consistency to the moderation -- obvious violations of rules and really horrid comments are completely fine, but anything that discusses legality or NQ's personal information gets locked immediately...so they definitely see when people are being shits, they just don't care. As for this exploit...honestly...fuck NQ's inability to fix the same bug twice. This whole thread should never have existed because NQ should have fixed the problem back when it was first a thing. considering the sloth-like pace of their updates, doing regression tests shouldn't be hard. They want to release this year; the game should be getting more stable...instead, the same bugs pop up? they've silently encouraged people to use exploits by refusing to address the schematic price issue. It sends a very clear message to the player base: "don't report problems, take advantage because when someone does report it, you won't face a penalty...but might lose out while others make bank..."
  13. it's a good thing DU (apparently) doesn't require an active sub to keep playing, because NQ doesn't seem all that interested in supporting it. did they even send an obligatory "our engineers are looking into it" reply? you know, the reply that takes all of 45 seconds to copy/paste? i don't care if they only have one person working support, after 7-8 days there should be some reply. the stability of the game is supposed to improve as it nears release. Between voxel corruption and the same exploits popping up again, i am doubting that DU will ever be a stable product at its core. i mean, they've had six months to stabilize the basics of the game they already spent 6 years on. after all this time, the most fundamental features (building / mining) should be near-flawless. there's no conceivable excuse for this level of problem at this stage of the product.
  14. No one cares about BOO or your PvP goals one way or the other. We're not complaining about PvP at all. We don't care about safezones. We don't care about AC. how is this a hard concept to understand...? we're talking about pointless trash-talking and flaming that has jack-all to do with the game. it's really not a hard thing to grasp. there's plenty of other channels for teenage bullshit, stick to those.
  15. we're not talking about pvp at all, we're talking about pointless trash talking and teenage BS trolling that has nothing to do with the game or with PvP. this has nothing to do with safe zones or PVE. I guess to some people "pvp" means acting like a cliche middle-school bully raging at the many things they don't care to understand, but i find that really boring and pointless -- as far from "content" as it comes.
  16. no, that's my point...the forum isn't one of those "moderated cities". If it were, there'd be...I don't know...actual moderation going on? Maybe stopping people when they call each other autistic? if NQ isn't going to moderate, it falls on org leadership to have some semblance of decency, at least here on official channels...if they can't or don't want to, there's nothing anyone can do. I never mentioned discord or other channels that NQ can't/won't moderate. if people want to flame, they should keep it to unofficial channels instead of dumping it here.
  17. not only that, the moderation only exists for legal topics or when NQ's personal information is involved. the forum rules are really clear: no trash talking, no flaming, no trolling. i guess it is okay to throw out misogynist/homophobic slurs or call people autistic...but dare to link to one of NQ's real-life online profiles...? They seem to notice that right away. the reason it's on Sylva to moderate is because NQ thinks trash talking is "emergent gameplay". i get that the CMs probably want nothing to do with these forums (not sure what else they do tbh), but it is their job to manage the community here and prevent things from getting out of hand. as usual, NQ only selectively enforces the rules. i guess that's why so many of their own employees have quit -- no one over there really cares anymore.
  18. being the "bad guys" doesn't mean trolling and flaming are okay. that's just being jerks -- i don't care about in-game PvP no matter the context, so long as it stays in game. PvP isn't trash talking -- trash talking is boring and juvenile and clearly against forum rules, but then NQ doesn't really moderate unless it involves legal topics or their own personal comfort. did you actually read through the 8+ pages of trash, here? i get that Infidel was a solid half of this mess of garbage, but it just looks like a bunch of teenagers bickering...not an org of pirates doing PvP for fun. Beyond the merit of crashing the event, all this immature BS isn't a good look for anyone. NQ must think that trash talking is "emergent gameplay" because it is their fault for doing no moderation at all as people call each other autistic etc. -- so I guess it falls to org leadership to keep their members in line. are you actually an org of PvP pirates that will take no prisoners and make no apologies....or are you just trash-talking kids...?
  19. that's true of all things protected by law, though -- people get drawn into court for things that are very clearly protected by free speech all the time, sometimes for years. Only some states have "anti-slap" laws that (sometimes) prevent obviously meritless lawsuits from wasting time in court. the first amendment is a right -- arguably the most famous/obvious right Americans have -- people still get sued and have to argue for their first amendment rights, sometimes for years and at great expense. so something can absolutely be a right as defined by law, but still land you in civil court. fair use is a right -- it is expression specifically defined and protected by the law. Sure, the definition in the law is a bit vague, but even if it were super clear...people would still get sued because that's just how America "works". plenty of corporations pursue cases knowing that the work in question does fall under fair use (or 1st amendment) -- but lawsuits are a weapon here, and most average people just don't have the resources to fight in court.
  20. this is "cutting-edge" tech 6 years in the making for sure From 2017: 4 years later...still working on the alpha, still trying to get voxels working, still unable to support the dwindling customers that are paying for the game. i hope your ticket gets addressed before the turn of the century, but they'll probably just tell you to clear cache and then look into it for another few weeks.
  21. these threads are such a mess...nothing of value going on with endless trash talking. i guess forum rules I), II), and III) aren't important i get that they aren't moderating discord now...but am starting to wonder if the CMs are on limited hours or just have checked out entirely. can't throw a stone in this thread without hitting rules violations -- flaming/trolling isn't a part of PvP or all in good fun, it's boring schoolyard BS that no one needs. for how quickly they lock down discussion about LinkedIn, it's kind of absurd they'd let this slugfest keep going. i know the CMs don't get paid enough, but is really obvious this thread should've been locked ages ago. i guess keep flaming/trolling each other because not even the CMs care at this point.
  22. spoken like a mature adult for sure, no hypocrisy there. "but i saw it on T.V." is my favorite example of your being very adult and not acting like a child at all. *sigh* i know for a fact how JohnnyTazer pushes buttons....that's like a real skill for him....but for the guy that keeps insisting that it's everyone else acting like jerks or kids...you're actually the worst. For someone that's 29 with a kid on the way, you have a lot of maturity to discover. TLDR: don't reproduce if you're an asshat.
  23. who cares? Not relevant to the concept of fair use. NQ can ban any name they want for any reason -- usually MMOs ban names like that because they want RP to be constrained to their universe, but NQ's internal policies aren't the topic -- the topic is if this is actual IP infringement, which it clearly isn't. go research the topic instead of grasping for straws.
  24. Because that wouldn't be fair use. It's not complicated -- promotion in this context would clearly be a for-profit enterprise rather than artistic expression protected by fair use. Not NQ's job to explain what can be easily Googled. You know this is the guy you banned, but then came back immediately with his alt accounts...? like, he's not a positive force of discussion on this forum and you can't throw a rock on his comment history without finding things that violate TOUs.
  25. that's an absurd distraction to the fact that everyone in here trash talking is acting like 10-year-olds. just because people were misogynists, bigots, and slavers in real life history doesn't mean it is okay to act like a complete jerk in a modern video game -- that's not RP, that's just being an ass. my point is that this level of name calling is boring, has nothing to do with DU, and has nothing to do with PvP. People need to keep their conflicts in-game and relevant to in-game things -- not personal attacks that have jack-all to do with the game.
