  1. If they can even read the script and the panels or understand it
  2. I wish you good luck building that thing and defending it. Will be a good project
  3. I'm perfectly fine with hunting, dangerous environment and getting some basic resources out of it like food. But you definitely have to prevent those mobs of dropping loot, some rare resource or any other rare in-game item. Because this turns out to be grinding and that's just plain boring.
  4. you clearly have no clue what DACs are and why they are implemented. Wrong opinion is wrong kkthxbai
  5. Yeah, well, probably not at release. If ever. Only because you want it, doesn't mean you get it. When the devs have time for it after the first big patches of the game (cvc, survival, stargates, ftl drives,...) 2 or 3 years after release, you may have a chance. Except: you start making plans for this to work without any element (yeah it sucks standing there and watching, but then again this is what YOU want with those races). Then you'll see in beta what could be automated. Make this thing big, advertise it, have a huge fan base of those races (24h of Alioth, the alioth classics,...), organize many races with many participants in beta. Then, and only then, you might have a good reason for NQ to tackle that problem of yours. There are 1000 more pressing and important issues for now Oh and besides: you don't spawn anywhere in DU with your vehicle, you have to fly anyway to the start because there is no teleport or spawn there. This is no instances game
  6. Well if the devs don't implement something like that (which most likely won't happen for release), then you have to simply take times with good old clocks and rely on players acting as referees. You simply can't assume that every bit of block, voxel, technology or possible script for such races will be implemented. That's why I would plan for a 100% manual system and a rule set which covers this. You can work from there and come up with maybe more and more ideas on how to use actual game mechanics to automate certain stuff. But assuming that everything should be possible from the start is just overbearing
  7. Good idea, I like bombs. So yeah, +1
  8. No need to assume a wipe before release - that's just the way it is. No wipe would just kill every game
  9. A game forum he shouldn't be in the first place - so w/e. No safe space for special snowflakes
  10. Hi there and welcome to the forum: Oh and btw: you have to pay in order to play. Please don't start another topic on that - use the search function because there are many many threads about that already and all of them come to the same conclusion
  11. It's 48h for now and it's more like the reinforcement timer in eve. That shield needs fuel. As long as it has fuel, it protects. If attacked, it enters reinforce and after 48h you can kill it.

Couldn't care less about such a thing. Don't need it at all. But can see why some others want it. Since it's no crucial feature: probably not at release, if ever
  13. Definitely a mix - I don't have any preferences, you can make everything work in every environment - adapt or die
  14. As I said: you could implement that with limitations, which would kill the op argument to some extent, but then again you can't possibly see what players will come up with, despite those limits. When fixed elements are in place, you can foresee to some degree what will be possible. There will be people who will abuse even predefined engines and use them in a way NQ never anticipated. No need there to make it even harder to balance a game
  15. I get what you're saying and I agree with you in some aspects: Some changes will be harder to implement later on and alpha/beta is the best moment to bring some in. But they need time to even implement the most basic features like the server tech, physics, basic game mechanics like mining, processing, building, lua and so on. Even THAT is very hard work and will take forever. They just can't do everything, you got to accept that (they're no AAA studio with 5000 people). Some changes like for example the weathering effect would be odd if implemented 2 years after release and suddenly all players would need to gather some extra resource - but imho that's still better than implementing a broken, unfair, unfinished, not well made and buggy mechanic from start. Because that would be abused to hell, newbros would whine about it and people would start talking about DU as an unfinished, poorly made MMO as a whole because one mechanic is broken. (Oh, they would do that!). So in terms of PR you don't want to do that.
  16. Hi there and welcome to the forum, - User created textures: too much load when 560000 people upload their textures - explain further what you mean but with the smoothing tool you can already do pretty amazing stuff - if that would be allowed, people would just build completely op things and consequences couldn't be foreseen even with some limitations to it.
  17. Well done and congratulations to the winners, you deserve it! Had a lot of fun reading all stories, thank you all for participating and making my workdays a little more exciting Thank you NQ for the honorable mentioning
  18. I loved that game. Oh and for now you can demand whatever you want but server stability and better core features of the game > "realism" like collision damage.
  19. Hopefully they make orgs raise money and then give it to the players - hilarious awoxing incoming I think it will be straight forward (but hopefully better than eve): player does something (mine, sell, build, w/e) and pays taxes or does some kind of job for the gov with no salary -> org gets income and redistributes it to SRP, r&d, building, w/e
