This is just some kind of madness. I really can't believe this is really happening. There is no PvE in the game, there is no way to earn a quantum other than mining, damn it. Mining, mining, mining. But in order to make money, to buy recipes? LOL never. I am leaving the game until this patch is removed from the server. The game is not playable for me now.

He's right. It is not fair to change the rules of the game during the game. Yesterday I didn’t need industry skills because I didn’t have enough money for schemes. Today schemes are cheaper, I have enough money for them, but now I need skills! Damn it, if you change the rules of the game - please reset skills first! Better yet, add some, I don't know, a button in the skills menu, by which we can reset skills once to those who need it.

but this is a sandbox game, why would someone tell me how I should play it?

I think if I had just subbed for three months I'd feel the same but I am at the end on my initial term and I did really enjoy my time here so far. So maybe I am just lucky that the patch came when it did and I only loose out on a few weeks? But I feel like this patch has really hurt the games player base. The org I have been playing with, atleast 30% or more have expressed that they are unsubbing or will not be converting to subs once the beta keys are expired.

So, maybe this is just bad timing? But sense the update last week I have just had nothing to do in game and currently there just is no place for me. I don't want to mine or build industry. I want to be a trader and the markets have all died.
 
I can understand there may be some growing pains in getting on board with the new process. I was even excited because I thought it would lead to more opportunity for traders who just want to buy low, sell high and space trucking across the universe but so far that just has not happened. 
 
My three month subscription comes due January 9th and I would not mind subbing for one more month to wait out and see if markets make a come back but making a three month commitment for what seems to be a dying game just doesn't make sense. So, I am wondering what happens to all my stuff when my subscription lapses? If I decide to give Dual Universe another try in six months will it all still be here? Also will you start offering one month subscriptions? And in the new balance that is happening, will any consideration be given to traders as a profession? Because right now there are no profit margins to be had for moving commodities in the universe.

I think the silence from NQ to PAYING subscribers like us is deafening.  I was unaware that the game was so underdeveloped when I signed up for it, I assumed (I know, Ass of U and Me) that if it was being released, and charged for, its core mechanic would be pretty much rock solid, with 'enhancements'  and new content coming in iterative updates.  
Even though I despise this patch with a passion, I would be willing to continue to support DU's development if we had a clear acknowledgement from NQ of the general feeling of the players and some glimmer of hope that it will SOON become playable again for new, unestablished players - with a clear and well developed plan that wont mean me paying a sub for 6 months with absolutely nothing to do but re-skill my talents and collect my daily Q's.
 But as it stands NQ just seem like an arrogant bunch of rip-off merchants, so the balance between my love for the game (as it was) and my annoyance with NQ at their lack of consideration, responsibility, and an accessible public response has made me unsub too. I may come back in 6 months or so and see whats developed, but to be honest, I feel pretty ripped off...

Can you imagine being a new player? Every hex that isn't a 25km flight to the nearest market is claimed or mined out.  Testing the cargo limits of whatever ship you've managed to scrape together you hit the lagfest aka markets and crash your ship.  Your little xs core is destroyed and you need to buy a new core.  Just as you are feeling lucky that the market you've crashed at actually has one in stock, the price of the thing comes into your field of vision.  You stare blankly at the screen for 30 seconds before hitting the escape key and punching the exit to desktop.  The only bright spot is that they've probably quit the game before seeing the price of a schematic.

Yes! Hell yes! Exactly. I do not play the game to be a space beggar and work hard on low-paid and super-boring work (mining) for long and long hours and days. No thanks, this is enough for me in real life. I played the game for fun. For build a factory, produce modules, build ships, travel. I hate mining, but I did it for my own needs. But now I can ONLY do mining. And nothing else. Haha, seriously? Play the game with yourself NQ, im out.
