That is because this is a sandbox MMO where the players are expected to create the content using the systems NQ provides. Now, argue that those systems are not all that great or varied to say the least and we do not disagree.

I say content, you say systems. Whatever word you choose, NQ delivers a framework and players leverage that framework however they want. My point still stands, NQ doesnt like how players leverage their framework so they change their "systems" to force us to play (ie create content) a certain way in their sandbox.

  2. I appreciate your ideas and I did read through it though it's a bit long. :)

Your tax system is elaborate but adding complexity should be done in careful consideration as players need to learn all the nuances which just makes it more tedious. I appreciate your ideas but I dont think it solves the true issues. The best thing they could do about demeter is to scrap it and now ae don't have to solve all the demeter issues.

If NQ cant afford the server costs to keep track of millions of tunnels, then simply have a mechanic that back fills those holes once they are a week old. Perhaps an anti-collaspe item would be added so some tunnels could be left open with some restrictions of length per account. Problem solved. Millions of tunnels would be full of dirt again. Ore not respawning could be solved later.

Mining units could still he introduced and now progression is mining the surface, then mining underground, then auto miners with still the ability of manually mining. Wow content!

Taxes solves nothing. Constructs that have remained dormant by their owners could be sent to the local market as a BP with materials so you could deploy again in the future. Solved! Now the universe is cleaned up.

Tiles already had a steep price curve and I only owned a few and I'm sure there are still plenty of tiles left so let's not fix something that isnt broke.

Solving problems smart is really hard. NQ's knee jerk reactions show a complete lack of understanding of engineering and problem solving skills.

The obvious reaction is moving all assets to Sanctuary and build temporary mining outposts on other planets and moons only. Than NQ will be once more surprised that we don't play the game as intended and come up with the next crazy idea.

This! You are absolutely right. NQ has never learned to just create content a d let players decide how to use it. Instead they find a narrow, boring and dull playstyle and make everyone play that way or nothing at all.

Now the obvious problem is planets are deserted and sanctuary is too full so we need to make room and only active accounts will be able to "save" a spot on sanctuary or you can only have a tile there for your first 3 months. So many coffin nails to choose from.

But if someone else claims the territory the leftover constructs could be disassembled into component elements/voxels and a blueprint which the returning player could collect from something like a market terminal at the institute.

The solution can be quite simple, so we know this isnt going to happen but if u dont pay the taxes, the territory should be refunded for all tiles bought before demeter and constructs that are in those tiles will be packaged up in a BP with the materials and deposited at the nearest market where players can reteeive it. This way it cant be a used to move statics between planets and everyone that quit at 0.23 and since wont lose anything.

If NQ doesnt do this, noone will ever return.

  5. If the rationale for taxes is to clear out inactive tiles wouldn't it make more sense to actually add FUN content so people come back and become active again.

It's obvious that NQ doenst actually play this game still. They think, rea life has death and taxes so they both have to be in game too? What?

So many changes starting with 0.23 only makes the game tedious. Paying taxes is suppose to be fun? Mining unit mini game is suppose to be fun?

Taxes may "solve" a problem but without the ability to physically mine the rewards of these mining units will be used to mostly pay taxes.

Taxes in game destroy capital, remove content and slow progression. That money serves no real purpose it's simply cancelled.

  6. Hearing about this upcoming demeter drop has been painful. I dont have much resources but I do own around 4 or 5 tiles on 3 different planets iirc. Havent played since 0.23 and all my friends quit last Dec. If territories are lost and the price we paid isnt refunded, my friends and I are NEVER coming back. If our constructs on those territories are not recoverable in a BP, we are NEVER coming back.

After the 0.23 disaster, the only thing go do in game was mine and now NQ is taking that out?

I cant resub for a month so I need to drop $20 to attempt to move my stuff back to sanctuary that was a death sentence a year ago but now it's the only place to go to escape taxes. I wish it was worth it but I'll never convince my friends to do this.

If we ever hope to get people back, there has to be a solution that doesnt take people's progression. Nooone will come back if they lose everything

If you don't know NQ Devs are forced to play DU solo and are discouraged to play with the community

I also beleive this is the case but how do you know this information? I didn't think they played at all tbh. If they even played solo they would feel the pain, certainly as a new player.

  8. Some sort of solution and introducing decay is coming so active players can salvage all of the abandoned structures and ships. I do hope this is balanced well and things dont decay too quickly as there are many who left "temporarily" and I dont think we need to discourage anyone from.coming back only to find their cores are gone. Balance is key but right now it should be forgiving or else scare more people away

  9. Consider it a lesson learned but it seems you need to move or delete items in your inventory until you have room to accept the oxygen, perhaps your entire inventory. If you are close to a market, consider selling some things so you dont feel you are losing progress but inventory management,  early on especially, is critical. Craft several XS containers asap.

So how about the option to obtain schematics through talent points also?

Industry units are already behind a TP wall, let's not put the schematics behind a wall too when we already have years and years of skills to unlock for the minimal amount of content available in the game. We dont need more walls and gates here to pass through in order to access content.

Panic about deflation all you like but deflation is NEVER a problem in MMOs.

I'm hardly panicking and saying that deflation isnt a problem in MMOs (which is true in general) has absoutley no bearing on DU just because it's a MMO. Provide some insight of how there isnt deflation instead of applying something that is true for MMOs and suggesting it's an absolute truth chiseled in stone for DU somehow is crazy. There is less currency in circulation right now, it's just a fact. It wont be forever, it's not healthy but it is happening in this game right now. I'm open to discussing it, it's hardly panic signally.

You don't need 'faucets'. Daily rewards inject the cash, the free market would then decided the value of said cash. If everyone only had the daily injection then the prices would be based off that standard if there was no bot interference.

This would only be partislly true if players could sell schematics however the 100k a day for logging in does not even come close to the millions and billions going out the window forever because of schematic quanta sinks. If we are buying from bots then this game absolutely needs money faucets. Right now the currency in game is dropping rapidly which is leading to deflation. Prices are coming down because of ths and the fact noone is buying but why would anyone buy when it will be cheaper tomorrow. Less currency means the market is valuing that currency more and more and the 100k is having no impact on it. Why would I buy anything when prices are falling because the amount of quanta in circulation is dangerously low. Money sinks without sufficient money faucets is a diseaster, just look at some RL countries going thought this. Now that deflation is here, I will be sitting on my quanta.

Group play is fine but I also like to do.. Me-time, being a full time on call working dude.  Sometimes I like adventure and thrill, others I just want to chill out.

This reminded me of a point because this "war" on solo playing is very disruptive because the truth is, playing solo happens even when you are in an org. So many times I am on the phone or multi tasking and cant be on comms with an org. Reality has a way to force you to be solo sometimes or when you dont have long to play, you do so without an org. I fear we are taking a very narrow view of what a MMO should be. People are going to do what they want, you cant force them because they either find a work around or simply leave.

I dont know if NQ can fix it, so idk if I'll play again.

If been contemplating what the player cycle will be in the situation that we have found ourselves in. Do players really quit forever or just until a major update comes along and they buy a month sub and jump in and try again? If the water is still cold, jump back out until the next big update months down the road? I left and came back to eve many many times. Each time with a huge gap in between, I found new playstyles and content to enjoy. I dont thinknthe question is if players will quit and never come back or not, the question is, how much does this all hurt the business case for NQ?

You guys want a world where everyone plays the same exact game.

Wait? Huh? Not sure who you guys are but this doesnt make much sense. DU also is not a survival game. My goto game is a survival game and it actually has survival elements. I for one do not want DU to become a survival game, there are way better ones that DU will never surpass.

I also dont agree that everyone should NOT be able to build anything they want. You should be able to make everything however, doing that takes time, RL time that is scarce and I simply could not devote the time needed to do everything so that is why I go to the markets. Plus I'd rather buy at a discount then make everything but the issue is allowing something doesnt mean that everyone will choose that course.

Real life example - I CAN sail around the world however it takes to long so I'd rather fly. The creators allowed me to sail but instead of making me fly, they let me decide and since my time is scarce, I choose what they were going for anyway but I still have options and can sail and or fly when I want to. See the difference now?

At this point NQ should scrap everything, close the beta. Persisting will hurt more the game.

Go back to a closed alpha without NDA.

This may not be a horrible idea, though a bit extreme there are benefits though I would be absolutely shocked if they made this sort of pivot.

If it ever happened, I do think dev time should only be spent on elements that actually make this game fun and introduce rich play cycles. Too many things aren't fun, slow boating for hours to planets, for me it's a 45min round trip on Alioth to get to markets and back, excel-mancing to find products I can sell for a profit, worrying about flying especially with a load and blowing my whole ship up again! I like a challenge but risk reward makes playing unenjoyable atm.

My solution was to send in a cancellation request and just not play anymore.

Agreed it is sad. In my 20+ years of gaming and MMOs, never has a heartbreaking of an update ever hit until 0.23. It is a paralyzing update and there is more fun elsewhere know but I still have hopes......hopefully realized in due time.

When they eventually do they should put some real mental capital into the simple idea of doing that restart with 0 bots participating

Yea I agree the markets are perfectly capable of working properly without bots. Currently, bots are needed as they represent the only quanta faucet besides the daily login bonus. I do think they should have kept in bots for the industrialists to utilize as right now it only helps the miners but when more money faucets appear and are addressable, these bots should die out.

  19. I believe the current solution is you CANNOT be standing on a dynamic core when using the maneuver tool. Try standing on the ground (maybe static core) and maneuver the child dynamic onto the parent dynamic. I tilt the parent so when you drop off the child, you can see quickly if it slides off or sticks.

I'll try to find the discord post about this....

want to know WTF happened to low quantity 3D printing in the 9000 years we were asleep... You can pretty much 3D print entire houses, functional solar panels, parts for an entire pistol, bespoke theraputic pills, hell even a lab cultured meat hamburger as of 2020 but in 12xxx, or whenever, you can't even weave a f'cking carpet.

This was the exact point I have been making. I would like to point out that we (aka, NQ) have adopted an externally narrow view of what a "factory" is. Factories can be massive and cost billions like JC said however factories come in different shapes and sizes. I can have a poor man's 3d printer that sits on my table and costs hundreds. I dont need a. Electronics machine, I can have a simple pick and place device that is faster than manual (nanopack) but still cant pump out products in the millions.

Factories scale with demand, as demand picks up, you scale up production so you aren't making things manually by hand 24/7. Why does EVERY factory need to conform to a narrow definition that means a mega factory kicking out high volumes of products? Aren't we waging war on giga factories and now pushing everyone in that direction so they have some chance to get their money back from schematics?

Factories vary is size, scale and purpose and an open ended, sandbox environment should be able to adopt for this variance.

However now I stare at a mostly quiet "factory" (As I have defined it) while I continue to "play" this game outside of the client using excel and market analysis so I dont get STUCK in this game. (Investing all my cash making a product that I cant sell for a profit)

So how to sell something that does not fit in a inventory?

You would have to ask the ATV, but it was planned in this 0.23 initially. Feature postponed pending more gameplay on this before its return. But the mining nerf will come.

Could you clarify what you mean? I assume the "nerf" is no longer "linking" to a container on a dynamic core? Why did you use the word "bind"?

All im getting from this patch is people are bitching they cant get the best of everything in a months tops.

I think you are reading this incorrectly, we aren't complaining that we cant get "the best of everything in a few months". I have been playing for a few months, mostly solo as my friends have quit, and I wont have everything with my play style. I'm fine with that as I see I have way more to do then RL time to play. My disappointment with 0.23 is the fact that I need to run to the market every 5 min. I'm about 130km away from the main markets so that's a bunch of time sunk just to fly there. If I have an hour to play I need to decide is it worth it to just fly there and back.

I enjoy being apart of the community and using the markets but now I need to run there for every schematic. I can but the question is, do I want to invest that time and, is it fun? It's usually not worth my time and I find something else to do or some other game to play. Is it fun, no because crashing has implications and also takes time to fix. I stare at my screen doing nothing, wishing the fun would come back.

Nice changes, but reimbursing only high price schemes is going to hurt a lot of people, especially merchants.

What do you consider a high prices scheme btw?

I read the post differently. It seems that ALL schematic prices are coming down so that would effectively make ALL schematics "high" price imo. Let's hope that true and not only reimburse the "rich" as the hardest hit would be the small guy so not reimbursing them (including me) seems to be a kick in the gut while we are already down.
