Recruitment should be easier - and it can be!

With many if not endless amounts of organizations now and later on, trying to find the right place can become tricky. So someone in Vulture Corporation *shameless ad* sat down and thought: Let's make it easier for all. Based on another forum where a similar layout works well with mod support, here we are:

Welcome to the (un)official "Looking for Organization" Thread that gets people results faster.

    How it works is simple

    ⛹ Organization seeker
You simply use the form provided below as basis for your post, fill it out and post it in here according to your specifications and then wait for the messages and offers to pour in. If you found an organization, you edit your posting and indicate that you did to prevent additional, possibly unwanted messages - and maybe false hopes for some recruiters.

    ⛳ Organization provider
You simply monitor this thread and respond to fitting requests. Please do not reply in this thread and contact recruits via the preferred contact method indicated by their posting only.

    ⚠ Forum moderators
To allow for a good structure and overview, it is suggested that moderators delete fulfilled requests from time to time if the post was marked accordingly by the user. In turn users, upon posting, should automatically agree that their posting can be deleted, if fulfilled.

    Notice:
For feedback about the form or other things, please send a PM visit the feedback thread found here: »Feedbackthread - "Looking for Organization Thread"

This thread is just for those looking for an organization, not debate or organization ads. Thanks to Tal from the SC forums for the inspiration.

Aesras reacted to yamamushi in How will governments pay for all the employees?
I think this goes into a deeper question of, what is the role of government in Dual Universe?

Obviously the purpose of government in-game is going to be much different than real-world government, which isn't an easy distinction to make because there is endless debate about what the purpose of government should be.

Personally, I subscribe to Murray Rothbard's school of thought as laid out in "Anatomy of The State", which I recommend anyone interested in the topic read (available for free here: https://mises.org/sites/default/files/Anatomy%20of%20the%20State_3.pdf ). It's a short read at ~60 pages in large font, but the fundamentals of what the purpose of government should be in a free and open society are laid out quite succinctly.

I believe the purpose of government in real-life should be to protect free trade, and in doing so that involves protecting the rights (civil/property/etc) of the people. That does not involve taxation on income, rather taxation on the production of goods and services and imports/exports. That also precludes any censorship that might arise in the field of free trade, as I don't necessarily believe it's the government's purpose to dictate what people can and can't purchase with their own money. Money also doesn't really have true value if you're limited in how you can use it.

In the real-world, governments need to raise money to pay for militaries, social services and the operation of the bureaucracies that make them up. They do this by levying taxes on income and trade, and all areas of the economy. All of this done under the guise of the "social contract", which I'm not particularly a proponent of.

In Dual Universe I see government filling one of many purposes:

Protecting Free Trade Protecting property rights Providing infrastructural services (everything from energy grids to traffic control for spaceships)
I think anything else that a government would do in DU could fit into one of those three things, and I don't necessarily believe that governments should be responsible entirely for the third on that list (hence the old anarchist joke, "who will build the roads?").

That will all likely lead into a debate amongst governments and those they govern about what services they should provide for their people. Should governments provide healthcare (in the form of respawn modules), should governments provide universal income, should they provide raw materials to their people?

Which in turn gets into another question of, are all of the people living in a governed area employees? Will these governments allow for citizens to live in their territories without necessarily having to do work for them? Or are all of the citizens of a particular government state employees?

All of those questions are going to dictate how any particular government raises money to pay for its existence.

Another driving philosophy is going to be whether a particular organization sees its government as an entity in of itself, or if they recognize that governments are amorphous entities composed of people.

Personally, I would favor a tax based on the use of markets in territories. If you're trading in a heavily defended area, you should expect to pay more for that government-backed service. Alternatively, if the tax rates are low, that may bring in more trade, however, it will come with the downside of not getting all of the perks that you'd otherwise pay for. Although, that doesn't necessarily mean that every heavily taxed territory would be more protected.

    - I'm stepping away but I will finish my thoughts in a follow up post -

    Battle of Emberstone
“Troopers!” A voice roared over the din. The men and women swarming throughout the drop bay halted, looking towards the source of the voice.”
“Two years ago we woke aboard the Novark on Alioth. Our home left far behind as we stepped out into the unknown. Afraid, confused and homesick we banded together. Forging a new civilization, a new way of surviving, and a new home.”
Alexander paused, surveying the gathered crew. He caught glimpses of pride flashing over the faces of his comrades.
“At first we believed we wouldn’t follow the ways of Earth, that peace, would come naturally. But alas that is not the case. As of today, we are at war. As many of you would've heard, 37 hours ago the city of Emberstone fell under siege. Although the JSDF replied in force, it was not enough. As of 0400 hours this morning, Emberstone has fallen.”
Silence fell over the drop bay, the hum of the warp drives could be heard as the men and women aboard the Invictus took in the news. Expressions of pride and joy were quickly replaced by concern, sadness and anger.
“Do not weep, the time for mourning is not here yet. For today is the day, today is the day we fight. Not for ourselves, but for our brothers and sisters, for those who have fallen! We fight for the Union, and the Syndicate!”
      “HOO-RAH!”
“As of right now, the Terran Union is assembling the might of its military force to take back Emberstone. Silverlight Industries, Diverse Unified Alliance, the Aether, Objective Driveyards, Chuckling Casket, Chromion Industrial, and the Solar Empire are all sending everything they can spare.”
The Invictus lurched as it dropped out of the warp gate, arriving at the Alioth system. The engines roared into life and the cruiser slipped forward.
“Glasrevin has tasked us to drop into Emberstone, our lz is the square. From there we are to set up an FOB and split into squads, each squad taking a cardinal direction. You are to clear surrounding anti-air batteries to give the ground forces a safer corridor to land the rest of the army. So, I ask, what are we going to do?!”
      “PAVE THE WAY!”
Throughout  the fringes of the system, vast fleets of ships dropped into view. The Invictus plowed forward, heading towards Alioth. More ships flowed through the jump gates, all heading for redemption.
“We do not know what our chances of survival are, so we fight as if they were zero. Our brothers might lose us and the world might never know we existed, but the Enemy - the Enemy will know. The Enemy will remember. We will hurt it so badly that it will never forget us until the stars burn out. When they are dying, their last thought will be of us. That is our memorial - carved into the heart of our foes. We cannot lose, my friends. For we have already won”

Cheers rang out over the open area
as the TUSC roused into action. Final preparations were completed as troopers strapped in pieces of equipment. Alexander dropped down from the boxes he was perched on and adorned his own helmet. The HUD flaring to life and picking up the friendly tags. He did a once over of his pod, making sure the radio beacons and other equipment was securely strapped down. An amber light flicked on and troopers started clambering into their drop pods, strapping themselves in before the drop crew closed the hatch.
Above Alioth the fleets of the Cinderfall Syndicate were engaging the captured defence stations and the amassed fleet of the invading force. Flanked by three titan-class ships and the rest of the Terran Union fleet, the Invictus moved into orbit above Emberstone as the rest of the fleet engaged.
Alexander smiled as the buzz of the radio opened up and a voice carried across the TUSC’s channels. Doc better have a good speech, he mused.
“For a wounded man will shall say to his assailant, ‘If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven’. Such is the rule of honor, broken the paradigm, an example must be set. Invoke the siren's song and sign the death warrant. Better to die quick, fighting on your feet. Then to live forever begging on your knees! So rise up, and answer; Can we still be saved?”
      “Hell no!”
“Will we rise from the dead?”
      “Hell no!”
“Is there still hope for us?

    “Hell no!”
      “Were we ever even alive?”
      “HELL NO!”
“Free speech for the living, dead men tell no tales. Their laughing finger will never point again. Six feet under with no marker, Keep our names from your mouth forever. So I ask you; Do we bow for the weak?

    “Hell no!”
      “Do we pity our contenders?”
      “Hell no!”
“Are we more than a cog in the system?”
      “Hell no!”
“Will our war machine be stopped?”
      “HELL NO!”
“This is their one and only decimation. The only one they’ll ever receive. Can't deny or ignore it. We are Leviathan: The Beast.”

Alexander stayed quiet during the exchange, studying the city below on a digital panel. They’d be performing a high orbit drop, although this exposed the drop pods to longer durations of any anti-air, it allowed them to better position themselves as they plummeted through the atmosphere. If they’d gone for a low orbit drop there was also the potential of being intercepted while not in the safety of the fleet. The light in the bay flipped from amber to red.
      “DROP DROP DROP”
Barked a voice over the radio. He quickly inputted code and slammed his hand into the button above his head. The pod shuddered as the clamps released and it was jettisoned out into space. 84 other pods quickly followed, decoy pods would fall ahead, soaking up as much anti air fire as they could, enabling the troops and supply pods to land.
A song started blasting over the intercom and on the speakers mounted outside of a few modified pods. Streaks of light flashed past the soldiers as captured Anti-Air batteries opened up on the pods, drowning out the song with thunderous cracks. Explosions filled the air as missiles and shells screamed upwards into the sky. Far above the Invictus roared back into life, returning to participate in the battle.
The city rushed closer and their destination came into view, the massive city square was littered with craters and bodies as the pods careened downwards. He bowed his head as a pod exploded into a ball of fire, the shockwave shunting his own pod spiraling. He wrestled to get the craft back on target, using up the precious fuel. Notifications slowly crawled up a digi pad as pods were struck down.
      Charlie 3-2 Viridian 12 -- KIA
    Bravo 2-1 Azure 4 -- KIA
    Supply 0012 Destroyed
Delta 4-2 Goldenrod 6-- Off target
Delta 4-2 Goldenrod 10-- Off target
      “Brothers and sisters!”
      Delta 4-2 Goldenrod 9 -- KIA
Delta 4-2 Goldenrod 8 --Off target
    Delta 4-2 Goldenrod 7 -- KIA
The digi pad flickered then died as another shell rolled over the pod. Fighters weaved through the falling pods, cutting down the plummeting troopers. Goldenrod we the last to drop, he thought, a grim expression on his face, feet first into hell...
“Remember this day my friends, remember this moment. Remember this as the day we FIGHT.”
      “HOO-RAH!”
Alexander was thrown into his harness as the landing thrusters kicked in. A shell exploded directly below him, sending smoke rushing over his pod. Another jolt and he slammed into the ground. The hatch blasted open, flying into an enemy soldier ready to fire. Alexander sprung out of his pod, firing at the distracted soldiers as they watched the pods rain down around then. The Battle of Emberstone had begun
      --------85km from Emberstone-----
Two children burst out of their house and spun around in the backyard as their mother watched on, unaffected by the ravaged city. The twirling pair stopped as they looked up into blue sky.
      “Mama! Look!”
Said the younger child, pointing a hand towards the sky. The mother stepped out from the doorway and looked upwards.
      “Children, get back inside now.”
The mother looked on as the children chased each other into the farmhouse. Streaks of white flared over the city, like molten rain falling through the sky. In the background flashes of the space battle could be seen. She wore a grim expression as she saw the pods falling through the sky. While the invasion had been quick and deadly, the battle for Emberstone would be brutal. So it begins.

    'We Pave The Way'

The Terran Union Strike Command is currently Recruiting!

    Founded: 14th of September, 2016
    Current Leader: Alexander 'Dark' Drake
Open Positions: 40 Troopers, 3 Engineers

    Who are we?
The Terran Union Strike Command is the men and women dedicated to fighting for the Terran Union. Our job is simple, to Pave the way.

TUSC is the dedicated shock troopers of the TU, hailing from all around the globe we aim to give everything our all and not give up. We are the front lines of the Terran Union Military, making first contact on assaults. The TUSC is tasked with clearing out any obstacles that may hinder the advance of the military, this may involve anything, from clearing out orbital defence stations to neutralising anti air or anti tank emplacements.

    Why TUSC?
We need men and women not only willing to work together, but to give their lives together. Ever wanted to be the part of the first wave? Dropping in from high orbit and clearing the way for your fellow soldiers? Fighting side by side with you brothers and sisters in arms.

By joining TUSC, and therefore the Terran Union, you'll gain all the benefits that a citizen of the TU will gain (Link to the TU page is at the top of reference). We offer a close-knit group of friends looking forward to working together and helping each other. In down times we'll be kicking back chatting and mucking around with each other. During Operations we will have a more serious tone, focused on winning and completing our task.

We currently looking for 41 shock troopers to join TUSC.
The Troopers are the front line of the Terran Union and the backbone of the TUSC. These men and women are the ones to go head first into combat, risking their lives in dangerous situations to begin the first assault. We are looking for men and women willing to fight alongside and cooperate with others, we will not tolerate lone wolves, those who believe they do not need anyone else. Teamwork and coordination will play a key part in the success of our operations.

We are also looking for 6 engineers to manage the TUS Invictus.
These engineers are going to play a key role within TUSC. Headed by Owe, the engineers will manage everything aboard the cruiser. From repairing and rebuilding the drop pods and drop ships to piloting the Invictus herself, the engineers will be a hard working, dedicated group. Engineers will not be stuck in one role, but will be able to fluidly move around the ship, helping where needed. While the troopers are on mission, the Invictus will be running a skeleton crew, which is where the teamwork and dedication will pay off.

While within TUSC your are not simply restricted to your role. In our down times you are free to do what ever you want, wether it be coding, building or mucking around. But make sure you're ready! When DU comes out we will have organised training sessions but untill then I'm happy to organise game nights so we can get to know each other.

    Requirements
-Have a mic and is willing to use it.
    -Speak English.
-Be of 16 years or older.
--Although we would prefer members to be 16 or older, anyone younger can still apply. Applications will take longer and we will need to       see if you are mature    enough to sign aboard.
-Willing and able to act mature when we need it.
The members of TUSC are projected to have the highest mortality rate within the TU, but do not let that throw you off, we will reap in the glory from our position and know that we are fighting the hardest.

If you have any questions about TUSC feel free to pm me on Discord (Name is Dark, and you can find me on the DU discord), ask in this thread or pm me on the forums. I'll endeavor to answer as much as I can.

Hi MrStarWars and welcome on our forum.

It was planned to contact you soon, but as you opened a thread on the forum, this will be much easier as it will clarify some points for all other members as well.
There are many fans of Starwars in the Dual Universe Community.

However, while we want to give as much freedom as possible to the players, Starwars material is copyrighted.

To copy openly the Starwars Universe as much as you do, we can't allow that for several reasons:

    - The most important one is copyright infringement. As the community portal has a goal of promoting player-generated content, you can't use copyrighted material (not made by you) to promote your organization. In fact, to do the things well, you should ask permission to the author for each material not made by you (even if it's not copyrighted), to use it for your organization.
    - Using Star Wars material can be extremely misleading for newcomers: We are NOT a Star Wars game. Dual Universe has its own story, and while we can understand you really love the Star Wars Universe, our game is not the right place to recreate it.

So in short, you can't use material with iconic characters or spaceships and the same applies for words like Palpatine, Darth Vader, and such.
You can reproduce in Dual Universe a social/political structure similar to the Empire in Starwars, but you can't say "Hey this is Starwars!"

Getting inspiration from the Starwars style for your spaceships can be tolerated, but you must keep in mind that at any moment, if we receive some complaints from Starwars copyright owners, we will have to remove it. This is the risk of copying something that already exists.

We didn't delete anything until now, because we wanted to get in touch with you first.
We hope you'll understand our position as we ask you to remove obvious starwars content posted by you on the Community Portal.
In the case you wouldn't do it by yourself within a week, we will remove it without further notice.

    Best regards,
    Nyzaltar, Community Manager at Novaquark

Aesras got a reaction from gyurka66 in Disguise, Stealth, Identity
Lets consider a hypothetical situation where you are doing a "off-the-record" operation, where the mission demands you to not give away your identity, maybe you are stealing important information, maybe destroying enemy's resources or whatever it is that you are doing but when you engage in combat or if anybody sees you, you are essentially identified and it takes away all the excitement from such missions cause then there is no need to do that if you are easily identified.
What I think the best solution would be to have a personal ID for everyone which you can give access to whom you wish, the ID will contain basic information of a player like name, guild, base planet or whatever and even there is an option of customizing that ID to give limited information away, so unless you have given access to someone who has not seen your ID, you are essentially an unknown person to them where nothing about you is known to them, I mean I think according to me that would be a real sort of immersion that I would love in a game and give a whole new field to play when it comes to military operations.

Aesras got a reaction from Vyz Ejstu in There can be only ONE Galactic Empire.
Star wars is going to be a very famous theme when the game gets more orgs and probably a lot of people will want to make their own empire, the idea that all the people who want their empire should merge is I think a silly one (ps: no offense), the game offers freedom on an entirely different scale and every other guy has a different idea on how they want to play the game. While many people will want to make an empire, how they make one, what they do will differ from people to people and the idea of them merging together will only cause havoc. You have to think of it from a people's point of view, everybody wants their own gameplay, merging together just because of a name is a very silly idea atleast in my view.
