  1. Let me tell you my story: I played MMOs since I was 18 (35 now), the one I played the most is ofc WoW, can u imagine how many hours I spent on that game, I bet u can. That said, every expansion is basically a wipe, it doesn't matter how many hours/days/weeks you spent on that latest raid, all of you effort goes down the toilet. I never heard once a complaint about that. Why? Because they know how to drive player to the next scenario. Here, as I already wrote on Reddit, is a thousand times easier than with an rpg, you have the whole real life universe to look for inspirations. "Hello Noveans, our sun is about to go supernova, we need to leave asap, board the arc (or whatever that ship's name is), you can only carry what fits in your nanopack" You could make and event to tease it by making the sun slowly became a red giant. Boom, expansion sold, brand new system, fresh start for everyone. This could be the transition from beta to release for example. And it's just one among many ideas you could use, black holes, meteors, etc etc.
  2. Make it an option, like a NPC or machine that let you do it, first one is free, then there's a fee, like... every other mmo.
  3. Had no problem with copy/paste, also I prefer to copy libraries directly into my base to save on core count. Btw I ran into this issue, I built a simple outpost to carry around when scanning/mining so I could leave there heavy stuff like territory scanners and load more ore between trips, I made a blueprint but I couldn't deploy it, I had to make a second blueprint out of that first one (blueprintception) and asked me for a fee (like 1k quantas), wth is with that?
  4. My suggestion is: do it anyway. I am willing to participate, have to register yet, but I'd like to be part of it. My ship is almost finished, only need final touches but 1 month is more than enough. Anyway, back to the topic, do it anyway, if it goes bad (not many ppl joining/visiting) is one hell of a message for NQ, if it goes good well, we'll have fun
  5. So, I've been traveling between markets quite a lot lately, been close to ramming into construct which loads too late quite often so I bought and atmospheric radar thinking it would help me see things before it's too late. The problem I encountered is that I already have a space radar (exactly for the same purpose, not crashing into stations/ships at 30k km/h) and it seems you can't link 2 radars to the same seat. Is it really like this? Any workaround? I dunno, I could have 2 seats and switch depending on the situation or even relink every time, but it feel so dumb that you can't link 2 radars together.
  6. Imho the act of selling to bot is fundamentally wrong the moment resources doesn't respawn. We keep on acting like this is the usual mmorpg where NPC and resources respawns constantly, thus generating a virtually infinite source of whatever material, this is not the case at all. Mind that when I say "we" I'm including NQ too.
  7. That's the point of all of this, they don't want a new player to step up and build his industry. And I would even be fine with it IF ONLY THIS GAME WASNT A BUILDING SANDBOX. lol
  8. What's the matter with steam? xD Nuclear power plants work the same way, they create heat through nuclear fission to turn water into steam for turbines, it might looks more futuristic but it's basically the same principle.
  9. I'm a set designer/decorator irl, I love to build, and I love sci-fi. Played a lot of building games, mainly modded Minecraft, factorio and space engineers. Always dreamed about a persistent universe for space engineers but it was pretty clear that simply wasn't possible with its tech. Then came DU which claimed to have everything I wanted, building, industry and spaceships. Was pretty excited about it and honestly I had fun in the last 3 months, mainly because having a wife and a kid (+ work ofc) my progress is slooooow af. Now I'm a little bit upset because I doubt I can keep up with the new industry. Also haven't touched PvP at all, to be honest by the few video I've watched this PvP doesn't appeal to me at all, so I don't care for PvP atm.
  10. Well I believe it should be easy to implement some basic power generation using the resources we already have: hydrogen + oxygen through chemical refinery to create water (so who's far from water sources is safe) coal into boilers (new element) to heat water for steam and a turbine (2nd new element) to generate energy. Ez xD
  11. After this statement NQ-Sophon: power (or, "energy management" as we call it) is tied to territory tiles, hence it is also tied to the big "territory warfare" update, which include a lot of work on making each tile more valuable, including related to their energy production capacity. We could decouple it, but this is not the current plan. I have to admit that I feel a little bit scared about this. What does he mean with "tied to tiles", is it random? Do I have any control over it? Are we meant to look for and fight for tiles with higher energy output? Btw I'd love if they introduced a "classic" power generation system, your know, coal solar geothermal wind nuclear etc, but they should allow us at least to be able to transfer energy between cores, it would make sense to have 1 core acting as a power plant feeding everything else.

    CORES

They could be tied to overall volume of your ship, xs core has a 64m^3 limit and until your ship is below that value your are fine. The problems starts when you go L, you could theoretically build a ships 1x1x~135000km (512^3) xD
  13. But this is not the real world, nor it is meant to be like it. We could start arguing about how unrealistic is to lift a few kilotons of raw ores into space but I bet it's pointless. If I had to spent a few million quantas to buy a creative mode apparatus (pc + oculus rift + 3dspace max license) I'd be fine
  14. Imagine how many brilliant design I could create with unlimited access to elements, like how many things I can create with a pencil and a piece of paper. I see no reason not to have a creative mode as it will take nothing out of the game.
  15. I read something here and here, I also have a pdf with every detail which I'vevnever actually read lol. Now I'm wondering, is that something that everyone could do, like a questline, or is it something that once solved it's over, like for instance the opening of ahn'qiraj gates?
  16. I am perfectly aware of that, I still believe a common threat would help, both us and NQ, achieve many goals, destruction which fuels production, cooperation, motivation, etc etc. Do you remember the wolves in space engineers? I don't know if they are still a thing now tho, but you can start with something basic like that and develope it with time.
  17. There are so many sources to "steal" ideas from that I could spend a lifetime listing every possibility. So, this might be too much but as we are suggesting ideas why not go full sci-fi. We want content and loops, they want limitations to expansion and ppl banding together, the solution is simple: ZERGS (or arachnids, or creepers, call them as you like). An hostile indigenous species that react to our presence. Industry could create pollution like in factorio and attract their attention, stimulate their growth, and so on. The more you grow the more you need help to defend yourself, groups and cities become a necessity while solos struggle to sustain the cost of ammo for their automatic defences. Let me go further, different planet different species: Madis could have zergs. Thades could have sandworms (dune) Sicari could have bioraptors (pitch black) which lives underground and comes out at night. Alioth could have protoss ("my life for alioth!!1" laugh in Zeratulese) which might be neutral and even cooperate to some degree (high end schematics for example) until you do something particularly bad and they obliterate you with the full power of their death ball. Ok I might have gone too far, lol.
  18. I was more interested in ship's element, do I have to remove and replace engines/airfoils/brakes once I put my points into their talents again? Your know.... I have like 200 wings on that ship...
  19. What happens now with the elements affected by the "handling" talents? Do I have to remove and replace everything AGAIN?!
  20. Man the f***** up the moment they introduced bots. You can't see the effect yet, but every day the entire community throw into the toilet thousands of finite resources for money that will now be thrown into the toilet for schematics. They won't respawn, it's not an NPC that respawns every 30seconds. There should never have been bots in the first place, let player build their economy, do you need wings? Let me build wings and sell them, remove the 2million sell order for wings for every market, just to make an example.
  21. They gave us 3/4 days warning for this update, while there are ppl who knew this weeks ahead. If this doesn't convince you there's something definitely wrong going...
  22. I'm not a huge fan of a wipe but allow me to explain that you described exactly what happened. Until a few days ago there was absolutely no reason to believe that what we were doing was about to be stripped of its value, as you said, we were led to believe that whatever we were doing was permanent. There was also (apparently) no reason to rush in a certain direction, who cares if I spend 10 days designing the exterior of my base as long I have an "eternity" ahead to work on my wealth. That was true until last Q&A, now it couldn't be further from the truth. In a matter of a few days after the announcement patch dropped, we plebs had no time to react, while silently ppl were stockpiling valuable items and money (the discussion about mass L core buying is at least 2 weeks old). I don't know how I would react to a wipe, I spent a lot of time designing my base and my ships, but I had fun in doing that, and I would 100% do it again if needed, hell I'm into this game for building things. My problem now is that my path as a builder is never been this distant from actually building things. It's like if I've chosen to be a warrior but I'm now forced to wear cloth and cast spells, doesn't sounds this good to me, doesn't it?
  23. The problem is that this might happen again, am I willing to spent another 3 months just to see my effort lose value overnight?
