  1. Months? i thought we were talking about two days here. I want constructs removed from the markets now. I just don't think the only two options are we delete them, or give them to you lol
  2. A few people seem laser focused on one possible solution that just happens to inadvertently benefit them. There is no reason that you need to get your hands on other people's stuff, to solve this problem. If you can't see that the market issue needs a solution that works faster then the amount of time it's reasonable to consider someone's construct as "abandoned" It's pretty clear your judgement is clouded by some weird desire to steal people's stuff.
  3. It kind of seems like you guys just want to steal peoples stuff. When there's no one left playing the game except people without jobs, how much money do you think NQ is going to bring in?
  4. What are we defining as "abandoned" though? I think this is two separate issues. Constructs need to be removed from markets after a short period of time. Not because they are abandoned but because they are breaking the game. I also think we need a system to handle "abandoned" constructs too. But i don't think a construct should be considered abandoned until the player's subscription is canceled. What if there was a fee to redeploy? It could increase each time you have a ship impounded. Or a cooldown timer before you can redeploy? Or both. A few days is just way too short a time to consider a construct abandoned. And a month is way too long to leave them at the markets. We need separate solutions to these two problems.
  5. There are days where i don't even have time to turn on my PC. I have a list of stuff to do that i won't even come close to finishing. If i have to choose between losing my ship and cooking dinner, i'm going to cook dinner. Why put me in that position if it's avoidable? Removing constructs and giving them back to the player would be just as hands off. As long as they can figure out a way to stop people from using it to transport stuff or abusing it in some other way. If there's any way to avoid making the game less enjoyable to players with busy lives. I think that's pretty important. They pay the same subscription as people who play 12 hours a day.
  6. I do like the idea of punishing people who leave crap at the markets on purpose. But with a system like that, lets say you're a perfectly innocent player parking at the market to buy or sell, with no intention of clogging up the markets at all, but then you get disconnected, and then your kid is hungry, or your boss calls you on the phone, or whatever. Then you go to bed, and work a full time job for the next two days. Does that person deserve to have their ship deleted, or given away to other players? It makes a lot more sense to stop people from doing a bad thing in the first place, rather then implementing a system that punishes them after the fact, and puts innocent players in the crossfire. Abandoned constructs just need to be compacted in a way that it can't be abused/exploited. Make it so they can't be redeployed unless you're within a short distance of where it was compacted in the first place. Maybe charge a fee to redeploy them.
  7. This seems like a bummer. But at the end of the day the screens are fluff. Super awesome fluff, but they aren't needed to make the game work, as a game. The question is will this be enough of a performance boost to justify hacking off such an awesome feature. I do wish they had considered this five years ago, but hindsight is 20/20. Nothing to do about that now.
  8. People keep bringing up this hypothetical scenario where a ship is heading out of the safe zone. But as far as i know the ship was flown to a station in between Alioth and the sanctuary moon, where they landed on what they thought was a landing pad. And logged off assuming their ship was safely docked in the safe zone. The player wanted the ship to stay in the safe zone. The devs designed the game intending for the ship to stay in the safe zone. The only reason the ship ended up outside the safe zone is because a player intentionally went looking for a ship that was vulnerable to a specific bug, and then exploited that bug so they could steal the ship. The whole "parenting" debate is just pedantry anyway because the NQ post mentions using "similar bugs/tools" to move a ship outside the safe zone too. Parenting Ships - Dragged to PVP Space: This is a hot topic and one we wish to be very clear on. Intentionally parenting any construct without permission of the owner is not intended for game play. A fix has been rolled out that will address the ability to parent constructs together via the maneuver tool. As we have not previously clarified this point, we will not retroactively punish this abuse, as of this moment forward abusing similar bugs/tools to replicate this maneuver in its current state can result in disciplinary actions on an account. [Not Allowed]
  9. The difference between docking and parenting is that a player can also be parented to a construct. It just means one thing is on the other thing. For example, a player might spend hours wandering the safe zone jumping on every ship they can find, hoping to find one left in a state where, if another player is parented to it, it resumes moving.
  10. it says there will be a f2p/trial. Although this is from five years ago so i'm not sure why we're analyzing it now. If they decide not to do a f2p trial, how would that stop you from using your DACs?
  11. Well now i'm just confused. Was the ship docked to another construct, or was it heading into PVP space? Was the construct that it was docked to yours? Did that construct end up outside the safe zone? If it wasn't in motion, why would gravity pull it outside of the safe zone? In terms of this being a functional, playable game, you don't see any problems here?
  12. They already addressed this issue though. Technically they only mentioned "parenting" a ship to move it outside the safezone without the owner's permission. But you don't expect NQ to predict every possible exploit and include it in the EULA do you? It's pretty obvious that if figuring out one way to move a players ship outside the safezone to destory it, is against the rules, then figuring out another way to do the same thing, would also be against the rules. I agree, in general NQ should be clearer about this kind of stuff. But this situation is crystal clear.
  13. No one wants to play a game where you don't know where it's safe to leave your stuff, and where it's not. That's not risk. It's just bad design. A player left their ship somewhere that they were told it would be completely safe, and another player exploited a bug, in a new system designed to stop people from maneuvering their ships into space, and moved the ship, without the owner's permission, which is not supposed to be possible, at all. The thief knew that there is not supposed to be any way to move another players ship outside the safe zone without their permission. Should be a simple decision for NQ
  14. Instantly moving goods across the galaxy is about as "passive" as you can get. So it seems like that would just be breaking another part of the game, for no reason. And they just nurfed manufacturing so hard people are still in the fetal position crying about it. But also, manufacturing isn't really "passive" at all. You need ore. You either have to mine it or buy it. We need to let them finish the rest of the game. That's what's missing from the equation. We don't need more short sighted rebalancing.
  15. I mean, sometimes i feel like there's no point in getting out of bed in the morning too. But what are we here for, on these forums, if not to suggest improvements? If you think that's a waste of time, then, well....
  16. If we're ranting... ? Baby boomers are the generation born between 1946 and 1964. It doesn't mean anyone over 15 years old lol
  17. In game, when you run into another player, it sort of feels like you both don't speak the same language. You might hop around a little, wave your arms, make a few gestures, but no one knows what channel anyone else is in, and when i do send a message to the local channel it seems like people don't usually see it. Maybe they're talking to me too, but if they are, i'm not seeing that either. If it's someone from my Org i'll just talk to them on Discord. But otherwise we usually just go our separate ways, without actually communicating. Proximity voice chat would be cool too. But we really just need a simple chat system that works at least as well as MMOs from the 90's
  18. To craft anything on an assembly line you need to buy a schematic for the specific item you want to craft. And the schematics are a bit expensive, so unless you plan on crafting a lot of something, it's usually less expensive to purchase the item on the market. If you're running out of inventory space buying a few Small or Medium sized containers is a good place to start. The extra small containers hold so little they aren't really worth using. The Nanocrafter will also keep running when you're not online. So you can queue up a bunch of stuff before you log off, and it'll all be done when you get back. Make sure to queue up a bunch of talents too, because you gain talent points much faster when they are going towards a queued talent. 10x faster i think. Doing all the tutorials will give you a bunch of talent points and Quanta to spend to get you started too. And there is a Dispenser unit at every marketplace that will give you a one time batch of 300L of concrete honeycomb voxels to build with. It's upstairs in the market buildings near the marketplace terminals.
  19. Place a big square of Luminescent Glass above where you're working, or even on the floor. As long as there's some nearby it creates an ambient light that lights up everything in your view. The more of it there is nearby the brighter it gets.
  20. It's just a crafting component. So it's used in a recipe to make something else.
  21. Being able to Delete with a paste volume is really a pretty big deal for building. It's really useful. Deleting with the line tool is also a pretty big deal. The cone shape is what it is, it's a cone.
  22. That WoW video is pretty awesome. I think the PC i was using when i played WoW would have melted into a puddle though ? I think DU could be a pretty amazing venue for events like that, in terms of stuff that could be done in game, to enhance them. Hopefully actual concerts will be a thing we can do again soon, but i think virtual events like that are going to be more of a thing in the future anyway. Also you can't mosh to techno ?
  23. No offence to the way Minecraft looks, but imagine how incredible an event like this could be, if it was done in DU. https://twitter.com/BDolanSFR/status/1371845529840324621?s=20
  24. I just wonder how much work it took on their part, over all those months. How much mining did they do? How much building? How much setting up infrastructure? Kinda seems like they helped build an Org, and then kicked everyone else out. Now they've got an Org worth of stuff, and no Org to play with. But i guess all those cool points gotta be worth something lol
  25. The same thing they should be doing automatically already. Check to see when the owner of the construct was last in game. If it's been long enough, maybe send out some kind of email informing them of what is about to happen, and what they can do to stop it, or what if anything will be recoverable if they don't do anything to stop it. If they miss the email, and they do eventually come back to the game, they might be unhappy. But as they saying goes "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" Until the full system is in place, and all the rules are laid out, i don't think they should be deleting anything or allowing it to be salvaged. For now they should just remove the constructs and leave magic blueprints in their inventory.
