  1. I don't see what there is to choke on. You speak in absolutes, you get roasted. Heck, I learned to speak like that when my kids hit maybe 3 years old and started to remember what "I promised".
  2. I think it matters a great deal how big or small your industry is. The impact is minimal for a small setup where you are just making a few things yourself. Sure it is annoying, but it is almost back to where things stood pre 0.23. For a large factory, the impact is huge. It is not impossible to do a large factory, but it is so tedious it sucks the joy out of it. Try out the FTEU and start building from scratch. The schematics are not bad on that scale. I sure hope they address the need to put the schematics into each individual machine before we get too far beyond release, because people are going to burn out on that fast.
  3. You fly the wrong airlines my friend. It is all about Italian marble and rich mahogany these days.
  4. Enjoy it. There is some crazy stuff to discover when you are getting started. If you need any pointers along the way, feel free to DM me.
  5. Also note that it is possible for a safe zone asteroid to spawn near the pvp zone. The process of locating the asteroid involves using an asteroid tracker that takes you to several coordinates before you find the asteroid. Sometimes this process can take you over the border into pvp space, even if the asteroid is not in pvp space. This is not the norm, but worth mentioning.
  6. The current new user experience is far better than what we previously had, but unfortunately, it has a long way to go. For release, many orgs will be trying to help as many new players as possible. I am concerned about the time after this initial rush, when there won't be so many experienced players still around on Haven to help out. The learning curve is steep, but the payoff is there if you can survive those early days.
  7. There are quite a few, very passionate, beta testers that dislike some of the decisions that have been made. The game itself still has stuff to do, is great fun, and has unbelievable potential. It is part of what makes it frustrating when you don't agree with the decisions. So the things that the game has going for it, if you are into them, I don't think you will have any worries about the shortcomings. The ability to build whatever base, ship, space stations, or whatever is amazing. You have wonderful variety because the content is all made by players. There is a lua coding system that lets players write real, DRM protected, code that can run in the game. These creations are all able to be sold in game. It is a creative person's dream. There is still ongoing balance in terms of pvp, the economy, and some game features were changed or removed due to the fact that they did not scale and caused too many performance issues. We hope that some of these gaps can get filled with more permanent solutions, which is the main reason for the posts with loud opinions. Everyone is shouting theirs over the rest. EDIT: To everyone else, how about taking a break from arguing to answer a question from a potential new player? I think more players is something we can all agree is a good thing?
  8. The vast majority of the posts in the forums are from players. NQ has a crazy number of pinned threads, which does tend to push player topics off of the 1st page of results. Honestly though, the players I know would love much more participation from NQ in the forums (like responses to things we say/ask).
  9. Yes, this is a super annoying issue. It is not just on ships where this is a problem. You can place new industry elements, turn them on, and they will begin production and then a day later you can come back and the machine is stopped with an error due to overlapping elements.
  10. I have no problem with the risk aspect of asteroids. I go in fully expecting that there may be a person there already or that I may be interrupted after a few minutes of mining. All that said, the system as it works now doesn't make sense, and that is like a splinter in my brain. What is in game reason that people with this magic DSAT know when an asteroid has been found? Are the DSAT and the asteroid sharing some psychic link? It makes little sense. There are so many things lately with this slapped together feeling and no explanation for why it works this way. If we had deep space radar that could detect activity in the region of asteroids, then create a mechanic for that. At least this sort of mechanic could feed into other new features. An alternative would be some sort of hacking feature that would allow players to hack into a DSAT network to locate where a DSAT is actively scanning. These sorts of things would create additional conflict, make some actual sense, and require a more active role to be played by the hunter. There is way too much passive gameplay now as it is.
  11. The EULA is pretty clear regarding what you get when you enter the beta. You got to play a beta version of a game for two years. The privilege was yours. All of the people receiving a pioneer pack spent money on the game at some point. You played for free. If all free beta accounts were given this reward, you would be back here complaining that alpha backers that received beta keys were getting multiple rewards, one for their main account and more for their alts playing on beta keys. That would be the conclusion if we followed down this path of backwards logic and the end result would make zero sense at all. to either NQ or the testers.
  12. Yeah, maybe aluminum ships won't go extinct. I did try to rework some of my ships with the light materials (carbon fiber, marble, etc). In most cases, I could not find a suitable replacement. It just doesn't look how it was intended with the textures available. So I switched back to aluminum in those cases. The issue I have is this continued practice to impact several other areas of the game while trying to "fix" something else. If you keep using this solution of fixing one part of the game by 100% ignoring the consequences elsewhere, you are going to impact parts of the game that are in good shape to the point where they are worse than the thing you are trying to fix. The simple solution that ignores all the consequences cannot be the go to choice every single time.
  13. That is the best thing I have read on the forums in a long time. 🤣
  14. NQ, why do you ask for our input (and why do we waste our time on it) when there is zero response and you go ahead with every change regardless? You are trying to address one area of the game (PvP) and are using a very broad brush. Please allow for at least one metal HC type (aluminum being the current popular choice) to be light weight. Ship builders for PvE ships have no metal textures at their disposal, except those starting at weight 50 now. Building is one of the most popular aspects of this game. Please don't just casually impact the great parts of the game while you are trying to fix something else.
  15. The thing that is frustrating is that simple checks could easily detect container range abuses. Just like RL cameras that can read your license plate at intervals along the expressway to see if you are speeding, timestamps are all they need. If you turn in a mission way faster than is physically possible in terms of game speed, you investigate. You catch them do it several billion more times, you do something about it.
  16. I dislike the change as well, because breaking the laws of physics due to poor imagination is just wrong. The problem being solved was not about pirates catching haulers though. It was to give PvP more variety in ship design. This has been really elusive. The meta of what is the best ship just tends to change with the patches, so they were trying to add some variety. Unfortunately, many of the pvp changes have a really poor impact on other parts of the game.
  17. NDA from alpha is not lifted. Some non-lawyer might have used some poor wording to explain that beta would not be under NDA, but alpha NDA remains in place for all things that were not publicly released. Not only can you not post alpha NDA content from DU on Discord, you cannot post content from any source that is not legally allowed to be shared in public (so you cannot break NDA with your work, another game, etc on NQ Discord or forums). Now the answer to your original question, is I am back for release, no doubt. I don't agree with every decision that got us here, but I am excited for release and the game still has tons of potential.
  18. Customer service! It's a good thing. People who are not currently active in the beta can still come give things a try at launch and will have their core BPs regardless of where they were.
  19. Try out the FTEU (currently in the game). You select your starting hex before you do anything else.
  20. I agree, I never said the refund was going to survive a wipe. I am saying that the same logic used to perform the refund can be used to refund core BPs. And they have carried BPs between alpha and beta, so this is the reason that there is such specific information. They already have a way to do it and know exactly how it works.
  21. Clearly, this is the same logic that was used to refund schematics. It is logic that is already written and can be tweaked for core BPs. No conspiracy, just something they already know they can do.
  22. They (NQ) were being asked about it right at beta launch, and they had an answer already prepared. Internal discussion of a wipe had already taken place at that point (obviously). When it tipped from something they were trying to avoid to something that was unavoidable is anyone's guess, but it must have been quite a long time ago.
  23. Sure, there is certainly a psychology to the words being used. But things should make sense, especially within the genre of the game. They would be better off using mechanics where the verbiage used didn't need to even be debated. Just make fun game loops to act as a limitation. Who cares what it is called. When you put limits in place with no gameplay and no positive aspect to it, it sucks regardless of what the name is.
  24. I sorta get what you are saying. Knowing that there will likely be some form of reset, I have been preparing by making BPs for getting started. The fact that we are at this point of development and we still have not locked in the collision detect for flight elements and HC weight is really frustrating though. I don't even finish fixing ships from one change before another one comes down.
