There is no resource drain at all cause nothing is destroyed, everything can be repair so there is really no sink. PvP is in shambles anyway and needs a major overhaul before anything else is done/added.

You are trying to fight on the wrong front. PvP in its current state is a disgrace, and future PvP works is at the bottom of the road map, maybe 12 months from now if they can get everything else ready. I have said this, again, 2526 times on the other threads that you could have posted on, PvP’ers are in for a huge surprise if they get the entire game to open up to PvP minus one moon. There isn’t enough PvP’ers to support this game financially and PvP is not the game, it’s 1/4 of the game, why do you think all the PvP updates are at the bottom of the list..........

Now,  let’s indulge your fantasy for a minute. They open everything to PvP and you confine everyone else to one moon. The lag will be phenomenal, to the point that they will start bleeding subs. They have to provide a place that people can use to build if they choose, fly and test their ships if they choose, without been destroyed the second they enter space.

If you can counter what I have said with a solution on how the 7 of you plan to support the game financially for the years to come, I will never post on this forums again, otherwise, I’m not interested in your destroy everything mentality.

It doesn’t matter what the PvP’ers want or what the PvE’ers want, it all comes down to what generates the most money for the game so it can continue to exist. If the PvP’ers are getting bored because people are staying in the safe zone, fight each other, stop trying to force everyone to your play style. End of story. Now, just opening a PvP thread every few days is not going to change anything, could have posted in the other 2625 threads about this that already exist that sank to the bottom of the forums for lack of interest.

Because it aint, and nobody is apparently building ships for pure PvP to get them destroyed.
As i read this i think the aim is not to have more PvP but to have more targets for free stuff.
DU is not a PvP game, it is a game and has PvP.
DU also does not bring content, It Is Content and the people need to make the story.
Well, i was not planning to put C.A.T.S. AcE into action already but now i think I will have to. For defense of our partners we  build fighters for pure PvP with the sole aim to kill these people who are just waiting for an easy kill. So if your looking to help and defend and are not too lazy to only go for free ships provided but actually work to build your ship, join ushttps://discord.gg/uJXeJ7q  .

I do however share the motion that in beta we already need to have all zones as we will have them after reall launch, And not have them changet at day 1 after launch.

None of the premise ships are worth their price, specially if you have to invest the same or more you pay for it in parts to make it work. This are suppose to be ships a new person can get a few days after they start, so skills shouldn’t be a factor here.

It’s always fun seeing the PvPers fight for global (universal?) PvP.

In elite, the PvP crowd keep pushing, year after year, to abolish solo mode (solo mode is where you can only meet NPCs) and private group mode (invite only)...

there was a vote on ED which had over 10,000 responses about preferred roles.

exploration, trading, mining were on their own, right out in front with piracy and PvP were miles behind. Yet the PvPers were/are there like mosquitos that don’t go away, trying to force their gameplay style on everyone else.

The seal clubbing (PvPers against noobs) got so bad that FDEV were forced to create a noob only region that further divided the players into separate sandboxes, to the point where you can fly for days and not meet a single soul...

In ED PvP is pointless for anyone not 100% invested in that gameplay style because PvP centric builds will destroy anything even remotely geared towards an actual in game trade like mining or NPC bounty hunting and the only recourse is to keep jumping away from them repeatedly, which gets old real quick...

In the end, it just turns into a toxic farce with the small minority that comprises the PvPers trying to force non PvPers to fight them... and complaining when they are only accompanied by their fellow PvPers (Who they won’t fight because the potential mutual damage incurred and time lost fighting a similarly armed opponent in a PvP centric specialized build would be considered a waste) with no willing victims.

i would be curious to know what percentage of players comprise the PvP centric player base in this game, but I suspect it would be less than 50%.

Games like this attract wildly different interests.

Some people want to build and create. Some want to RP as a lonely miner or trader making a life in some quiet of the galaxy. Others want to be space pirates and live and die for competition and political conflict.

The challenge with PVP is that it can easily make every other interest or activity irrelevant or annoying...

If NQ wants to build a rust-style game because they believe player conflict will drive engagement, so be it...but then they can't really advertise it as a "build civilization and be whatever you want" sort of experience.

It's really silly all the people like "this isn't minecraft go play something else"...okay...? Sure, blame us for advertising this as a massive-scale build your own civilization game.

Go figure, many people actually want to build stuff.

This is simply numbers, math if you will. The real question is Are there enough PvP’ers to need the entire solar system as a PvP zone and can they solely support and provide the income necessary to continue to develop and run the game?

If you leave only one moon for everyone that don’t want to PvP (This is what the PvP’ers want, only Sanctuary Moon as PvE), the game will fail, hands down. Lag will be unbearable, and no one will leave the moon for fear at getting destroyed the second they reach space, it just don’t work and subs will start to drop. People need space to build, fly ships, build space stations without the need of someone coming and destroying everything when the person is offline. The current safe zone is 3 planets, everything else is on the PvP zone, that’s 8-9? Planets and their moons, that sounds like a fair balance to me.

Disclaimer: cause every time I say this I have to also say that support the PvP part of the game and I’m in no way against it. I’m just looking at this from outside the picture and I want the game to be successful, but a full PvP game, this type of game, will not work and it will eventually die.

In DU 30K represents light speed, which is why it is impossible to get past 29,999. So if a rocket is able to track and hit you at that speed, it is doing something impossible. Or something that has an astronomically small chance of success to be more exact if the rocket is traveling towards the ship, instead of trying to catch it from behind which would be actually impossible (for any type of weapon, including laser).

And for me it keeps coming back to one word incentive. In the sense that DU has a pillar more important then any others, it is that it is a building game. That is the core technology of the game that everything else is built around. And so it makes sense that this game will attract more of the creative type people then your typical MMO. People from Landmark, Second Life, Minecraft etc. looking for something to bridge the creative side with a MMO. Which brings us back to incentive. Why would anyone put effort and energy into creating, when it can be easily torn down by anyone with a gun wanting to kill some spare time?

So don't misunderstand me. I am not arguing against PvP. But the rules of engagement has to be clear. And there has to be a balance of creation vs destruction. Having PvP weapons bend the laws of physics as established by the game, while builders (potentially in the near future) are limited to a single resource scarce sanctuary moon and a single STU per player. Is not an example of this.

The only thing I will add here for now, it’s that future PvP updates are way off, according to the roadmap, they are listed all the way at the end, so around 6-12 months from now, if nothing else breaks.

Also, I have to agree with the current space PvP outside the protection zone is silly, I mean, all anyone has to see it’s the few videos of people traveling at 30,000 km/hr and getting pummeled by rockets from a ship that’s not even there. So before they even work on atmo PvP, safe zones etc etc, this needs change massively. Again, way off the radar according to the roadmap.

PvP is 1 of the 4 pillars of this game and it needs love too but right now it’s the weakest and silliest of the four. Hopefully they will make good decisions in the future and have it work better than what it is presently.

So you want to spend 4-5 hours in creative to make the perfect ship so you can bring it to the game and use it? Why don’t you do it in game instead?

NQ said already 2 times no, they don’t want creative and they are not going to add it, end of story. So his opinion is not bs, it’s fact.

Wait 250m3 now from 180m3 from 10m3 initially? So if I want to add a small red detail on my ship which only requires 7.3m3 of carbon fiber, the minimum I can craft is 250m3? 2500L of material?

I put all the numbers down so everyone see how ridiculous that looks right, now go try it in game......it’s worst

Or they make a "virtual" overflow parking where they get "teleported" to, and can be reclaimed at a kiosk/dispenser or something. That way they don't have to render. And any not claimed after a time get dumped in a "scrap" lot with their cores un-claimed so we get the salvage experience too
