  2. thats exactly the question, with normal, mousetargeting i could decide where to destroy the hull-voxels and send in a bomb-drone or something similar. If its tab targeting i fear we will only be able to target significant systems of the ship or completely random, thus we wont be able invade it from less important parts of the ship.
  3. @Hissshadow There is no playable build right now, at least not for players. It will take till the start of next year, most likely even longer.

    no, they intend to build a safezone around the beginners ark ship, but nowhere else. That doesnt serve as primary social hub or builders base, just a little protection for newbies before they step out into the space. Organzisations can "arktify" their land for a very high price, and probably not permanently, if you only want to build stuff and stay save then you can only do so in the virtual space.

    nearly all of those points has been adressed in several threads, it'd be good to use the search function before starting a thread or just look through the dev blogs which adress those points.

  8. Of course you can create your own religion ingame, the organizations and duties mechanics they want to use perfectly allow for it. But please, don't recreate one of the current existing ones, that would only turn those small minded people into trolls.

  10. a) no i don't, i assume FTL via stargat is pretty much instant. b ) 8 hour ftl is far to short, if its only 8 hours the players can potentially discover thousands of planets per day, which definitely is not intended, because even if we get 10k+ players, they would spread much to far. You have to balance the ingame experience with the gameplay, ofc for explorers it would be nice to have thousands of planets, for everyone else not tho. Additionally, don't forget, that the planets are very big too, there is not only space exploration. If you introduce a proper, mobile, FTL with which you can reach other solar systems within hours then the playerbase will thin out far to fast, and thats why i think its reasonable if players need several days of ingame time to reach a different solar system, and for that you dont need ftl (we don't talk about reality here, the solar systems won't be several lighthours in diameter either).
  11. Thats not correct, sub light only means slower than c0, it doesnt mean it has to be extremely slower. It is completely realistic that, with a proper engine, a distance of 1 ly would take 1,5 years. The most limiting effects actually don't happen till you're really close to the maximum. As i said in a different topic, i think its fine if people need a traveltime from 24h+ up to 100h+ ingame to get to a different solar system, which is doable if they shrink the universe as they said. (ofc. the distances would be unrealistic, but u can't keep everything realistic and at least we dont need some weird, unrealistic ftl concepts)
  12. they said they'd shrink the universe, so i figured the next star could be a few lightmonths away, thus allowing us with sub light engines to reach it after a long while.

  14. Problem with external editor is, that people could possible code software which simply transform normal 3d files to voxel files, which wouldn't be good at all

  20. There will probably be a variety of sub light engines, but i wouldn't count on solar sails because the acceleration is far to slow for a mmorpg.

  22. you definitely shouldn't take the amount of variety shown in the trailer as reference for the finished game, its not even alpha. Any discussion about graphics etc. should wait till we are at least in the beta Everything else is pointless frustration for those who don't understand the words pre-alpha or alpha^^

    No, but you can just build mechanical ones, the AI LUA script can be limited to "ram everything"
  24. as long as it doesnt affect the blueprints the players can sell i wouldnt care for it, as soon as it does its a pretty big advantage over other players. On the other hand they said that players with sub would recieve "money" for the cash shop every month, so basically everyone with a sub would have some cosmetics, which reduces the effect quite a bit.
