  1. The sub model is fine. It beats having to pay for the base game AND a monthly sub like WoW, EQ, etc. Honestly, the cost is soooo low that it's completely negligible. And it keeps them focused on developing the game, not developing cash grabs and loot boxes and skins and bullshit.
  2. How come the forum is running so poorly? Is anyone else getting this? Scrolling the page up/down, typing has input lag, and it effects other tabs as well. It's only this site (board.dualthegame.com) and it's really, really dragging and annoying.
  3. I'm loving what I'm hearing, but...I think we can all agree there are two major things we need to see the next couple updates. BETTER ROTATION TOOL! Please please please give us more axes of rotation! Having to bullshit around it by making weird structures, placing it on them, flipping, rotating, move it, etc etc, it's just stupid. It doesn't make building any more intricate, just frustrating and it's silly that you don't have a multi-axial rotation tool. EVERYONE would appreciate this. FULL VERTICAL VIEW! I know you probably didn't include the ability to aim straight up/down so people don't just AFK and dig straight through the earth, but so what? For building and placement and repair etc purposes, it's just ridiculous. I mean, just make it so with the mining tool you can't aim up/down at the full angle, but give us the ability to look straight up and down, ESPECIALLY in build modes! Thanks.
  4. My biggest request would be hands-down that the Rotation tool needs more axes to rotate around. Holding Alt or Control should allow you to move it over the other two axes. As it stands, you can do all the rotations anyway, but you have to really, really cheese it by placing it up against voxels, rotating, then moving with arrow keys and page up/down to get the element back in place. It really, really can't be that hard to add some modifiers to give extra axes of rotation to a selected element. After that, I see absolutely no reason why you can't look at +/-90 degrees. What's this 75 degree limitation when looking up and down? It is SO frustrating for placing things accurately and for pasting objects or working on ceilings, designs, or carefully placing stuff. PLEASE please please give us the full range of view up and down! I really don't care about seeing my own space suit, I'd rather have it hidden and get full head movement, at least when in build mode or when holding the mining tool. This last one is more of a QOL than an actual improvement to game features, but I'd like to still be able to auto-run and have the chat window open. It would make those long sprints back to your last death location or between long areas much nicer if you could chat with your buddies or in general channels while doing so. Any thoughts on these?
  5. I agree that they should just add a contrast slider to the game, and reset the base contrast back to what it was. Ambient lighting was a TERRIBLE idea. No more fun use of shadows and spooky corridors. I actually really enjoyed the darkness, made lights look cooler. Also, the dark is okay! We have lights with no battery cost, so we can not only use our suit's light, but build lights everywhere we want that are fairly small and very effective. It was so cool setting down on the dark side of a planet and watching my ship's lights hit the surroundings as I set down.
  6. I don't know how "quiet" it is when they have a huge update patch and a forum post and dev logs and videos and a long-ass full patch list. I mean, what, you want them to come to your house personally or go on TV and shout "THIS IS THE NEW PATCH!" Haha I mean c'mon, it's a small incremental development patch. How loud should it be? It was a patch during the beta process, it wasn't ground-breaking. What did you think they should've done? I think it's appropriate, nothing bigger than the actual changes they gave.
  7. (basically a re-write of a comment I made, then saw I'd be making the same response to most of these topics and figured I'd just plop it here) edit: (I start by being generous to the devs, and understanding to the people who aren't so happy, but I give my honest thoughts on it) So, as someone who's done a lot of alpha and beta tests over the past couple decades (on both successful games and ones that deserve to burn in the fieriest regions of Hell), the full change log is actually decent considering the last patch came out about 3 months ago (I had to look that up, so the timeline is about right). They did do a LOT of tweaking to under-the-hood stuff, which in a game that has so many interconnected elements is a big feat. But then again, I just started back up like a week ago after over a year-and-a-half of being away and letting the turkey bake in the oven without checking it every ten minutes. So, for me, I've seen a HUGE improvement from alpha, but I know for most of you that have been on this journey the whole time, you're just watching the scenery go by slowly and not really noticing the change as being as impactful as I did. And after just being back for a week, I'm already seeing a patch go up that's making things look nicer, adds a new voxel object to edit with (and the cone will be fun to play with) and improving a couple tools. Also, they are putting on some band-aids to the market and GUI showing that they know more needs to be done and are adding the foundation to further improve on it. So, I'm hopeful, there. But, as a cynical player, I also really am disappointed that the rotation tool didn't get any additional axes added to it. And I was hoping that the missions would include a bit more "meat" to it. Still though, I'm happy they did add a new basis for a major game mechanic (missions) that let you get away from just mining and selling stuff you build from mining, and that they show that they are aware of the issues with the market and building and clutter (gotta till the soil and plant seeds before your crops can grow). So y'know... I think it's alright. And I think they're moving in the right direction, and are still very much so involved in trying to produce the product that we all want, even if they're on a shoestring budget.
  8. To be fair, as someone who's done a lot of alpha and beta tests over the past couple decades, the full change log is actually decent as long as the last patch came out like 2-3 months ago (I honestly don't know, I'm just saying for a timeline that wouldn't be horrible). They did do a LOT of tweaking to under-the-hood stuff. But then again, I just started back up like a week ago after 2 years of being away. So, for me, I've seen a HUGE improvement from alpha, and now I'm already seeing patch that's prettying things up, adds a new voxel object to edit with (and the cone will be useful|) and improving a couple tools, and they are putting on some band-aids to the market and GUI showing that they know more needs to be done and are adding the stuff to further improve on it. But, as a player, I also really am disappointed that the rotation tool didn't get any additional axes added to it. And I was hoping that the missions would include a bit more "meat" to it. 9. Hopefully some of the metals will be hotfixed but I'm pretty happy about the forward momentum so far. But one thing I was suuuper disappointed about is that the rotation tool still doesn't have multiple axes of rotation ? Please, please, please please please please for the sake of my sanity and saving everyone's time from having to use work-arounds, PLEASE add more rotation axes to the element rotation tool! Just like, have the X be default, hold shift for Y, hold alt for Z. I swear to you, this will be the single most valuable change to the editing tool set you could make.
  10. HAHAHA ohh damn man, we got a real killjoy here. I'm not a Southern Baptist or an old black lady. The saying "Y'all need Jesus!," is like an almost 100 year-old meme in the USA. I don't know if anyone's said it seriously since the 1950s. It's a comical saying, but I guess... r/woooooosh Sorry if it triggered you in some way, I was just trying to disarm with sarcastic comedy. I see I failed miserably.
  11. My biggest fear for this game is Chinese Gold Farmers getting in the mix.
  12. Wow that is super-heartwarming. I'm glad they did that, and it sucks that I missed it. You know, one thing (that I know will be super time-intensive but would be amazingly helpful for people) that would be great would be a more inclusive wiki, including what schematics go to which industry producers, what talents effect what things, etc etc.
  13. I think removing bots is a bad idea. I'd say keep them limited to the sanctuary zones, though. But honestly there needs to be a system for an enforced foundational level of economics, otherwise it turns more into an accountant and stock exchange simulator instead of a fun diversion from work.
  14. I mean....almost every major mafia movie or bank heist movie ever lol I'm not rooting for him, I'm just saying, like...damn! Good job! Truly devious shit, but Hell if that wasn't an impressive act of espionage!
  15. What is fucking wrong with this community? Y'all need Jesus lol. The cringe here is just obscene. Listen, the first guy OP dude up there had a bad take, but it came from a genuine concern and one that NQ has even addressed as a problem. But....in this thread, some of your responses are just sooo goddamn toxic that you might as well just say them to yourself out loud because no effing way you're convincing anyone with that kind of talk, and you're honestly going to even turn off people who may had originally thought as you did *cough cough* But to the point...you can't just wipe someone's account for people who payed into it and who have spent time on it, just because they let their game sub lapse. There are all kinds of reasons people may take a break: Military Service (Which can last for a year or more depending on deployment zone and stop-loss or w/e other countries call it) Pregnancy New Job Natural Disaster Medical Problems or Hospitalization Starting School Financial Problems Or any other personal reason for taking a break to focus time elsewhere The magic blueprint idea is good, because clutter can be bad. And I'd say give it 14 days after a sub runs out, but yeah in protected areas 12-24h whether sub is active or not (that gives people at least 1 paycheck to restart it) This could had been a legitimate and real conversation with some possible systems that would had been good to implement, but you guys just went salty and sad like immediately.
  16. ...it's a game that's only been in beta for like...a year? You know before there were world-spanning empires, there were just small tribes of selfish people simply trying not to die, eh? Same thing, just gotta not self-delete out of sadness before it gets moving. Tribes will band together and form little kingdoms. Kingdoms will become empires. Empires will become nations. Nations will become galactic spanning federations lol
  17. Naunet is gone? That is sad... I wonder what they moved on to?
  18. Hey, you kidding me? I love watching political dramas and spy movies! This kind of intrigue is awesome especially when it's in fiction, don't be so boring haha.
  19. To be fair, he said he worked his way up, including being super-nice to people and helping to train their combat forces, probably even fought in battles with them in order to keep his cover. It wasn't a door left open, it was just a very good spy with no scruples and a goal that he was going to reach no matter what morally was in his way.
  20. Damn what an absolute legend! That is brutal. I mean, good job, he worked for all that. Sucks it happened to them, but y'know... That's life, right? You got a full Org, you'll get it all back....
  21. Haha great, great job being completely exemplary of what I was saying. Instigation and pushing people around leads to resentment and explosive responses, that was what I was saying (tl;dr for you since you didn't read it at all I notice) and you just coming in here to be rude and to stir the pot without actually contributing anything is exactly what I was talking about. So...both thanks for that, and also stop doing that.
  22. I think it could be a really quick fix, and since the economy is so ambiguous already, it would be best to just give some more basic freedoms for building. I mean, if I want painted materials, or materials in bulk, or composite stuff, I'll still have to go through a manufacturing company. But I think there needs to be more basic materials available than there currently is, and that your nano-fab shouldn't be the only unlocked production line. Let people at least get to making basic Medium stuff and THEN show the licenses or blueprints are required for further advancement.
  23. Woof, talk about server lag! That sounds sooo awesome, but in this system you'd be overloading the stack in a heeeavy way. I think that's a GREAT idea but it would not work well in this game. At least not for another 5-10 years when tech for processing power could catch up to that cool idea, and even then the game would've had to have been built around that concept from its inception. Then again, I guess you could do the "build it by part" system that the engine for Borderlands used. Just stat modifiers and some event modifiers with graphical adaptations on a defined skeletal mesh.... I suppose as long as you're just doing part mods, it really could work. But the ping inconsistency in this game makes the idea of Avatar-based PVP combat almost laughable. However some Cybertank combat....hmm.......
  24. tl;dr "Take a break, not every update is game-changing, but they are VERY good devs insofar as they are people who are consistent with their forward momentum." Hey man I came back to this after almost 2 years of taking a break. And you know what? It was pretty great! Taking that long of a break, I had a LOT of high expectations. And what I found was that yes, it was much better optimized, it has a semblance of a trajectory for new players (although I really, REALLY am a very vocal opponent of their Schematics system the way they have it, and I think it needs to be reeled in a little, especially since there are permanent losses in PVP now). Really I'd say just take the break, man. Come back when you feel you want to, give it a couple months, a year, or just keep your ear to the ground with no actual idea of what you want to do (basically what I did) This game is far from finished, but it really is very, very cool for its building mechanics (even though they really throttled down the building stuff for new players) but the game itself is still fun. It's grindy as shit and playing it solo is a slog (because they didn't intend the game to be that way, but it accidentally PUNISHES people for that instead of just making you have to go through the motions) You know what I been doing, though? On my 5-minute flights from my base to the market, I've been watching Dead Meat's Kill Count videos. Love'em. Yeah it's stupid you have to have a second screen or set up your trajectory so you can kick back and wait for travel time to be done and there's literally nothing else interesting to do (don't engage in chat, trust lol) but that's a part of a game that has both terrestrial and interstellar (eventually) travel all in the same game. Speed, piloting, plotting, etc will be important. Sorry I'm waiting for my buddy to show up to pick me up for work, and so I typed a lot
