This is not how you make friends here. This is how you get put on hit lists ingame.

Thank you for your valuable and constructive feed back. As always i'm impressed by the tolerance other players have for people with different play styles in this community.

as long as its not easier to use those tools than weapons or explosives i have no issues with it, i mean if it takes someone 15 minutes to cut open my ship and 30 seconds to blow it open, let them cut.

but it all depends on how the mechanics balance stuff like this out.

I would build a vast shanty town, the kind of place that makes you sad just to see pictures of.

and underneath it would be a bio-weapons factory, or whatever the least tasteful and most destructive weapon the game allows me to build factory.

If other voxel games have taught me anything its the order of ship likeness goes:

    1. Star destroy
    2. Enterprise
    3. Whatever the BSG thingy is called
    4. Then eve ships

so its inevitable, i have no artistic talent myself, if i did I'd make me a nyx* as my first order of business

*and if anyone called it the millennium falcon i would hunt them relentlessly for the mistake

It has nothing to do with the shards, objects can be dynamically spawned or removed in empty space for players to find, and since you told me not to i'll use eve as an example, You go into a system its a shard, its basically always the same, but you can scan down instances of pve sites, do them and then they're gone, if you go back to that spot its empty, if you scan around perhaps another will spawn.

There are aspects of the game that wont be voxel, weapon models, cockpits and other elements. To think that as the game matures there wont be a demand for new items of this nature to be added is naive.

you seem to argue questions with assumptions which is getting very tiresome. my question was directed at NQ who is the only ones who can actually answer the original question. so i see no reason to debate it any further.

Still the problem in war. You can't be effective as a 500man Corp against 5000. Blobs are always a problem in PvP in mmos and sandboxes

We had this discussion in Eve like 5000 times.

    Solo players:
Be solo, fight solo, trade solo, mine solo. All good. But be SMART about it. Take precautions. Think before you just fly off and then lose all your stuff. I lived like 5 months alone in a wormhole in Eve (remote area, no easy logistics, no ammo, no repairs basically) and lost nothing because I knew the place I was going to. Ppl who just want to do stuff NOW and ignore the game mechanics get killed. They whine and 2 months later we can play hello kitty online because some whiners and bad, dumb ppl can't work out a proper way to understand game mechanics

    Griefers:
Yeah they are there (I'm occasionally one myself) and its more fun when ppl whine and cry out loud. You do it 'just because' - that's it. Nothing personal. In a sandbox you can do it. Why should you restrict the gameplay of a whole branch just because players can't figure out a way to defend themselves? Learn how to avoid it

The most and biggest problem in sandboxes are not griefers or players that want your stuff. The biggest problem in DU will be the blob. Huge masses of players against smaller ones. Who will win? Small gang warfare or traders are difficult to run when all the enemy has got to do its just bring double your team in. THAT'S the problem

Why are the most debated topics the ones that need no debate. NQ stated in no uncertain terms this will be a subscription model. I hope they don't give these threads any consideration, i'm starting to hope that every time they see one of these threads they just add $1 to the monthly sub cost.

While no one likes to loose control of their constructs, I think that not having the risk of it would take something away from the immersion of the game. It should (as mentioned above) not be an easy thing to do, but in my opinion it should be possible.

I would like to see great wars fought over a strategically placed outpost, or players banding together to capture an advanced capital ship that is laying siege to an area.

i personally am hoping to be able to turn a poor unsuspecting asteroid into a manufacturing fortress. with nothing on the surface except for a landing pad, hanger access, and a gratuitous amount of weaponry.

Okay, so I know that what I'm about to type doesn't really contribute to the community much or anything, and I sorely apologize for that, BUT,

For the love of all things holy, can we all agree not to respond to (or CREATE) any more Payment Model topics? God forbid, if you create one you must want half the community to come and rain on your sunny day. It's a salty topic, and you're bound to get crap for it no matter how good the idea sounds to you, so please, PLEASE, don't create these topics (there are already several, much to many people's chagrin). And for any forum go-ers that see these topics, please quote the above green text.

    Sincerely,
    An annoyed community member

    Alright, lets start this off,

This is not a good idea,

"Why?" you may ask, and I shall explain it to you.

The renting of universe space will be extremely harmful to the game for multiple reasons. First, lets start with a hypothetical. The egotistical rich mommy's boy Bob decides to start an organization, lets call it "BobCorp" for the time being. One day, Michael from the much larger "Mike Inc." decides that he wants declare war on BobCorp. Bob, being Bob, decides that he is not having it and goes to NovaQuark and "rents" his system. Now as you said in a previous post:
The bit that I am focusing on is this bit:
...administered by players who actually pay for this service, with their own rules and restrictions.
So, Bob, after buying his system, decides to exercise his ADMINISTRATIVE RIGHTS, and bans all of Mike Incs members from his system, now Mike and his minions cannot attack bob's system and bob continues on being a carebear. Mike responds buy enclosing all of Bob's territory like a warmongering amoeba. Bob, after seeing this becomes FURIOUS AND SPILLS HIS SPECIAL HOT CHOCOLATE THAT HIS MUMMY MADE HIM. He goes back to NovaQuark and rents out ALL of Mike Inc's systems and bans everyone except for him and some of his sniveling friends and they go through Mike Inc's systems, pillaging and looting everything while all mike can do is watch as his months worth of work burn in front of him, afterwards, Bob, having taken everything and destroyed all of Mike's work, waits for the month to end and cancels his renting of Mike's systems, because he is happy having his one system, and for his safety bans everyone except for him and his cronies from entering.

    THE END.

See how your plan could be used in the most ultimate form of Pay to Win?
      Cheers!   rmhenn

I'm sorry if this is inappropriate, but this is the only way I have of responding to the suggestion of renting out private space for real world money in Dual Universe
