or example, if I made a ship with a steel frame, could I use that same blueprint to create a ship using aluminum

But blueprints don't work like that. I know that DU is a game, not course in engineering, but if you project something, you calculate all elements/parts in relations to each other. So if you change one part, you must change others too, because they will be "incompatible". In steel-aluminium example you should decrease weight of all other components, because aluminium bars cannot support weight which steel take with ease.

And, as far as I understood, BPs will be "snapshots" of already built constructs. So think about them as a photo more than recipe ;)

Let me know what you think.

...buy seriously, I love all sorts of pure cosmetic customization items - hats, ship/gear skins, clothes, dyes, fancy shaped decorative items (and maybe voices for you guiding AI too) and so on. So long such items do not give any mechanical advantages, I am perfectly ok with cash shop and even can buy sometime something for myself.

  3. I think that planet sizes should be different from each other -  we can have big planets with 30 km diameter and small "rocks" with 1 km radius with medium 10 km planets between. And yes, taking whole small planet for pirate base wretched hive of scum and villainy is something I look forward to  :D

Casuals dont normaly invest the time needed for a game like this thats why the play other less time taking game like cod and others.

I am casual gamer - I have life, work, relationship and ton of other things to do beside games, so I can play at most few hours in week. And what, you forbid me play DU?

     is this game m8

Oh yeah. So you said that voxel games are niche for consoles? Or space exploration games? Even so, IF it is "niche" it SHOLUD be ported to as many platforms as possible - because more platforms = more players  = more profit for devs. Is that simple.

    console audience are normaly casuals

Yeah, of course, Mister I-Know-All. BTW, what is wrong with "hardz0re gamerz" and them obsession on "casuals"? :<

"Kill yourself"? Maybe you go with your own advice and free us from your presence?

    this is a niche market

Please read something first, before you open mouth and say something utterly stupid ;/

Adding consoles to mix will be cool, it is always a larger playerbase, means better gampeplay and interactions :)

  7. Yeah, I not accuse you of trolling, but forum rules state clearly that ANY real politic/religion talk is frowned upon. And please keep it in that way. I am avid political disputant myself, but game forum is not place for that. Maybe if we will have some kind of "hydepark" section to discuss out-of-game things, we can do proper political debate. But for now, please stick to the works of fiction ;)

  8. that artwork only means we will have planets with deserts, but not that deserts and forests will be on the same planet^^

Actually on the trailer, about 08:20 you can see other type of forest, looking like jungle (near mountains, with lot of lakes). It mean at least two "climatic zones" on same planet ;)

In Game, unless the entire planet is claimed there will be places to go to make your own way. I don't absolutely have to rely on anyone else for anything, sure it may be faster as a team, but it would need to be a mutually beneficial team.

Start playing EVE Online and you'll se your mistake ;)

If game is complex enough, it is impossible to be stand alone - you must rely on some bigger powerblock. And this - if the difference of power is big enough - is easy way to being virtually slave.

  10. Here is article about biggest maps in games - it give nice sense of scale. Biggest map mention in article has 40 000 km2 - 40 x smaller than one planet (!). Biger maps CAN be done of course, but where is point of that?

  11. But in eve it just works. Without slavery ;D 1/3 of game map is safe zone, another 1/3 is quite safe (restrictions on some pvp gear). No slavery. And guess what? Confict all around, with battles up to 1000 playets and hundreds corporations trying to screw each other in every possible way....

Conflict was, is and will be imminen without hardcoding. What I can say more ?

  12. It is cool and all, but there is one question that you not answer: what if "slave" want to be free? With tight security and no tools plus remote location your chances to escape are close to absolute zero...

It is a game, after all, not torture or work. Non-consensual actions without any counter will lead to one thing: lot of unsubs. And how to avoid that?
