Kuritho Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Should Dual Universe be media as well? (Similar to Facebook, Twitter, ect. But OBVIOUSLY keep the game) Let's Discuss. Twerkmotor is probably going to bring out very good points so in advance: No u.
Zamarus Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 I think if anything it would just be an expansion of the forums Kuritho 1

yamamushi Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Absolutely it should, and I think that there are some very exciting things on the roadmap to that end ;-) My lips are sealed, though. I firmly believe that the social aspects of Dual Universe will be very similar to Second Life, maybe not as extreme as some people take SL, but there will most certainly be room for the type of social interaction that Second Life allows for. (ie the nightclub thread that was up earlier). There will be a metagaming aspect as well, similar to Eve Online's metagaming (the social interaction outside of the game), but the freedom that DU is promising would seem to lend itself more towards the SL aspect. In many ways there's already a social media aspect to Dual Universe, I mean I spend easily 40 hours a week on Discord hanging out and generally complaining about my work life Caprikel, Lord_Void and Kuritho 3

DU will probably follow EVE in it's metagaming, although I hope it won't become the same paranoid place as EVE. A little paranoia is good, but sometimes it boils over in eve. Kuritho 1
Lethys Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 I think there will be sites like in eve (news, history, leaked org chats/logs/mails,...) and probably even some kind of twitter - who knows? But I agree with void: please no eve like meta where it gets pretty paranoid pretty fast
Archonious Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Sorry, I don't find it as a good idea. For? What the reason to spend time, money, workforce and other resources on the things already exist? Another facebook or twitter specially for fans? You have forum and community portal. Amount of discords already big, not saying about after game release. Let create TV show, film about DU, open DU shoping center, start to build factory for hover/space ships in real life. Or let's focus on game designing and use all resources for improving main product, to make it uniqeu and great quality. Sorry, but I find it as unnecessary waste of resources, especially when project is not well known and not even close to release. P.S: If this is thread about to create fan website without developers resources, then just ignore this message. Thanks, Archonious Kuritho 1
Anaximander Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Well, if the game ends up in a very large scale, it would end up like WoW, back when Facebook was not widely popular, circa 2006-7. It wasn't strange to learn of news in WoW, while raiding. It functioend like a form of social media, but then again, any social interaction medium, is part of social media. But given many people in these forums ast for NQ to make the game as less of a social game as possible, I think in the end, it's up to NQ to make certain it can be. Some people in these forums would love nothing more than to fly a spaceship alone, without having to rely on or socialise with other people.
Kurock Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 DU appeals to a broad range of players. As long as its not mandatory and does not draw away from the actual game development, then why not? Is it important for me personally? No not really. Being able to chat in game for me is more important. Anaximander 1
