With the recent news that the org changes have been delayed/are being discussed here are a few suggestions I have about what can be done. Parent Org- Leave these as the massive organization that encompasses all things. Add "Companies"- These would be organizations that do not have the ability to claim land tiles, but can still hold constructs. Meaning they can be assigned a construct token by an organization that owns a tile in order to set up their business. This would encompass "Ship Showrooms" for ship builders to tokenize many ships for sale. Also would encompass things like Mercanary Companies, Casino's, etc... Add "Org specializations" via an Organization Talent System. This would allow players to work together to complete Organization objectives and receive perks as an org. Some examples would be as follows; Mining Experts- Orgs receive a decreased time on refining ore on cores that belong to the org. (instead of 3 minutes it could be 2mins 30 seconds) Manufacturing Experts- Orgs receive a decreased time producing elements Ship Designers- Orgs receive a 5% weight reduction on ship elements other than containers. Transportation Specialists- Org receives a 5% reduction of fuel costs within atmosphere. Explorers- Org receives a 5% bonus to thrust elements while in space. (this allows them to exceed the 30k km by 5%) Mercenary Squad- Org receives a bonus 2% hp and 2% damage output while piloting ships. These are just some examples, but could be broken down into even more bonuses. Make these bonuses require certain "criteria" to obtain by these orgs. This will provide gameplay loops within orgs as they strive to acquire boosts that benefit the whole org. Some Company bonuses (due to not claiming land) criteria might be as follows; Mining Experts- Org must mine 10m ore in total to acquire 1 talent point. Org must mine 20m ore in total to acquire the next tier of talents. Etc... Manufacturing Experts- Orgs must produce at least 20 different schematics with maintain levels of 100 and reach this amount in linked containers. Ship Designers- Org must crash at least 20 different cores to acquire the 1st talent point. Transportation Specialists- Org must complete at least 50 player creates hauling missions. Explorers- Org must discover at least 5 asteroids before anyone else. (in the new system) Mercenary Squad- Org must have killed at least 50 players or destroyed 50 cores to acquire the 1st talent point. However people feel about the above talents is not relevant, its simply ideas to spark the thought of "goals within organizations". These could be further broken between "organizations" and "companies" for example; Parliament of Alioth(x planet)- Organization. Must have at least 10 claims on Alioth(x planet) in order to get a talent that reduces the claim cost of future tiles by 5%. Standing Army- Organization. Must have at least 10 separate constructs with guns linked to gunner seats and containers. Talent could include 5% reduction in power cost for static construct defenses. This list could go on, feel free to add more suggestions. Ultimately the reason for the post is to bring up the idea of different types of orgs and companies, companies can be within an org or independently run on an org's tiles. (or in space on cores that don't require claims) and to provide bonuses to players looking for a specific gameplay type to get perks for working together to achieve goals. Each of these bonuses could include multiple "achievements" for the org to acquire to receive various levels of bonuses. Also this will help to bring different orgs and companies together to help each other. Why mine yourself when you can hire a mining org to refine ore to sell you. Why haul it when the transportation can do it cheaper. This would also allow new gameplay loops to be engaged with that allows player run content to shine further. Just some thoughts.

At its current state DU is nothing more than a game prototype. All this talk about civilization building where the game mechanics are nothing remotely about "civilization building"... and no, ability to build cities with voxels does not qualify. A city is not a bunch of buildings, it's the social aspect and the reasoning behind living in a city in the first place. DU does not have social drivers for civilization, DU does not have selective pressures for civilization organization (no danger, no scarcity, pvp is just flying space castle sieges, no technological progression system at all)... The common plight of big universe games (Elite Dangerous I'm looking at you) is they are going for scale, not depth. In Elite, I can basically play the whole game loop in less than 2 hours, you just have millions of planets and systems to play that game loop in. I feel like DU is going the same way. A new system will not fix the current problems as it will only make the universe larger but will not add depth. It's a common and frankly silly mistake, especially in DU context. What I am proposing here is focusing on depth, which requires a massive amount of content (what we've been asking for since... forever). You get the depth right with a fun game loop for the majority, you can then extrapolate that unto new systems. I know that this whole thing is wishful thinking at this point of the "beta" that should be an early alpha, but here goes: A way to simulate "civilization" in DU would be to scrap this Eve talent system (some things really shouldn't be copied) and do an org-based technological progression system. NOTE, not a skills tree, a TECH tree: You have to be in an org to even progress in advanced technologies... Or there should be more technology branches available for group context Solo players should have basic technology progression available to them to facilitate solo play, and maybe a separate tech tree. Solo player tech tree should not be an afterthought, maybe it should have some cooler stuff than org tech trees. But the higher tier advanced stuff should only be in group context. Tech can only be progressed through when you are actively doing actions that facilitate skills /numbers that unlock a tech path (you have to play to progress) Vast technological skills tree that unlocks stuff on an org basis. This automatically creates groups of people that progress through technology differently and this adds a ton of variety to orgs. an org can choose to progress through a more electronic line of skill, while another one might focus on plasma, another one might focus more on laser tech. an org may choose to develop agricultural skills for resource generation, or more mining, or more building.. debatable topic here but it's not hard to imagine that with this system orgs will specialize As you climb further and further up the tech tree the branches have wider distance from each other, meaning that it's a lot harder to cover the whole tree (you need to specialize AS AN ORG in a certain area of technology) This should be a background systems with interesting skills (so you don't have to feel like you need to hit a rock X number of times to gain a better skill in idk... pooping). Skills progress organically based on actions, the difficult part is making the grind not grind for its own sake. You can have org waypoints (for example, some skills have multiple options and the org has to choose what type of said technology they want to unlock, they can't have both). IMPORTANT - this system gives devs a ton of room and opportunity to add more stuff to the tree whenever they want to, basically an unlimited system. An example of a skill tree from Path of Exile: Granted this is a different mmo and all that (do not comment on path of exiles, irrelevant to the topic, I'm just showing a tree, could have used a different game), but the principle remains the same. As you go out to the outer layers of the tech tree you are forced to specialize because it becomes much harder, even impossible to cover everything on the outer branches of the tree in a group context. Skill training is done organically in group context, you simply focus on what you want to train and do those activities. In my opinion this system simulates "civilization building" much better than the Eve talent system which only focuses on the individual anyway, with few skills in group context. The main thing with this tech system is it gives devs plenty of room to add more features and technologies to the tree, and as an mmo, new content is always important. Anyway, what do you all think? And before someone says "I specifically joined DU to avoid doing x number of stupid quests to gain a skill point", this is not what I mean by this tree. Tech should be acquired organically, not through some lame quests. Valheim for example has a really nice organic skill generation system, you don't even spec skills. You CAN'T. You automatically gain skill based only on what you do. I think this is a good system. I think it will encourage people to group up, I think it will add a ton of variety into orgs, and I think it will greatly increase specialized fun.

Choosing the right org can make a big difference to your playing experience. There needs to be a couple more tools to assist with this. 1. Usage breakdown. A graph showing how many players from the org are on at various times of the day would assist so you can see if your timezone or play time overlaps well with a potential Org. I’m from New Zealand so I’m completely of kilter with the US players play time. 2. Member turnover. A monthly report of number of new members and the number of members who left an org. An org with a high level of people leaving it every month may be an indication of bad or toxic management, while a org who has not many new members may indicate stable or no longer actively expanding 3. Number of members active vs non active each month. Member numbers doesn’t matter if most of the members joined on day one of beta and quit on day two to never come back. A break down of the percentage of idle vs active members over the last month would help.

United Earth Space Corps [UESC] The United Earth Space Corps is a military faction with a lawful good alignment. We are courageous warriors, and we are wolves, and together our wolfpack will be unstoppable. Initially the U.E.S.C. aims to be a small to medium (20-100) player faction focusing on friendship and teamwork. We strive to be the best of the best in military combat and military ship design. The Federation Alpha is a political entity with an autocratic government form and an aggressive-expansive mindset. We exist with the aim to help our citizens and build up a civilization, so our citizens can live freely. We strive to unite others with us to help promote production and a favourable lifestyle. We offer protection, asylum and citizenship to everybody. We, the people of The Federation Alpha, want to unify the galaxy to make it a better place! Allow me to explain a bit more. The power of The Federation Alpha is divided into 11 ministries, one Prime Minister and the President. Every minister is leading a specific department which consists of coordinating and initiating projects no matter if proposed by a citizen or the president. Onto the more specific job descriptions of the government: The President: He's the head of the state, makes most of the decisions and is the head of the council of ministers. The Prime Minister: They are the right hand of the president, but take the president’s place in his absence, they are the second head of the council of ministers and responsible for the infrastructure. The Minister of Defence: They regulate the armed forces, oversee the military budget matters and procurement of equipment. The Minister of Finance: They're in charge of government finances, economic policy and financial regulation. The Minister of Commerce: They're responsible for regulating external/internal trade and promoting economic growth. The Minister of Immigration: They have the capability to grant citizenship, but also take care of immigration issues, and asylum for refugees. The Minister of Industry: They're in charge of the industry, which includes engineering, employment, and trading. The Minister of Resources: They look after the natural resources (The own resources are kept for emergency situations, instead we go mine somewhere else) The Minister of Development: They oversee innovation, science and economic development. The Minister of Internal Affairs: They're responsible for policing, emergency management and national security. The Minister of Foreign Affairs: They take care of the state’s foreign policy and manage external relations (ex.: Alliances, Peace treaty, truce, …) The Minister of Transport: They're in charge of the transportation within the country. Their responsibilities are road safety, civil aviation, public transport and maintenance of infrastructural projects. (road, bridges, tunnels, …) The Minister of Health: They're responsible for protecting and promoting public health, providing welfare and other social security services. The Admiral: They put the orders of the Minister of Defence into motion, coordinate and supervise the Space Force of the Army. The General: They put the orders of the Minister of Defence into motion, coordinate and supervise the Air and Ground Force of the Army. Governor: They execute the plans of a minister, at least one Governor is assigned to a minister. Their other duties are to oversee their sector and to do quality inspections. Alpha Police Department: It is empowered by the state to enforce the law, protect property and limit civil disorder. They are allowed to use force if necessary. Captain: They command a ship and coordinate the battles in space. Colonel: They command the battles in the air and on the ground. Fighter Pilot: They're trained pilots, who will dominate the sky and space with their comrades, fighting the enemy. There are two categories of Fighter Pilots: Class A (atmosphere) and Class S (space). Trooper: They're disciplined and skilled soldiers, who will be on the front and fight the battles for the Federation Alpha. Those were the main jobs that will be provided by the Federation Alpha. (there are more) Military structure: The military is separated into three sections: The Ground Force, the Air Force and Space Force. The Alpha Ground Force (AGF) and the Alpha Air Force (AAF) is commanded by the General, who is the highest ranking of the Ground and Air Force. The Ground and Air Force consist of the General, Colonels, Majors, Troop Commanders/Air Commanders, Squad Leaders/Air Squadron Leaders and Troopers/Air Fighter Pilots. The Admiral is the highest ranking of the Alpha Space Force (ASF). The Alpha Space Force consists of the Admiral, Captains, Commanders, Lieutenants, Squadron Leaders/Ensigns and Fighter Pilots/Crewmen. In the chain of command, the General and Admiral are equals, those above them are the Minister of Defence, the Prime Minister and the President. The first members of the military will be Troopers and Fighter Pilots because they are the most important part, after recruiting enough man power, we will provide personal training for those who want to rank up. In order to provide a fun environment for every player (citizen of Federation Alpha) and have a frame of ideals to be considered when meeting decisions, we have created a few fundamental rules that compose the general code of conduct for every member. These are the basic laws that will be operating in the federation. LAWS: 1. Human dignity; the human dignity shall be respected. 2. Personal Freedoms; personal freedoms shall be respected. 3. Equality before the law; every individual will be treated the same way. 4. Freedom of faith, conscience and creed; every individual has the right to believe in something, this shall be respected. 5. Freedom of expression; every individual has the right to have his own opinion and to express it. 6. Freedom of assembly; every individual has the right to freely meet up with other people. 7. Freedom of association; any individual can create or join a group/corporation. 8. Privacy of correspondence, post and telecommunications; a conversation between different individuals of the Federation Alpha should not be disclosed without the consent of every participating party. 9. Freedom of movement; every individual has the right to move freely, where- and whenever he wants, if it doesn’t violate any other laws. 10. Occupational Freedom, prohibition of forced labour; each individual has the right to choose their profession and shall not be forced into labour. 11. Compulsory military or alternative service; in case of war or conflict, the military has the possibility to conscript an individual to fight. This individual has the right to refuse, but in that case, they will have to sign up for an alternative service. 12. Inviolability of the home; no individual has the right to enter a private building without the owner’s permission, but if a police officer presents a warrant from a Judge then he has the right to enter. 13. Property, inheritance, expropriation; no one has the right to take away your property, but if it violates any other laws then the state will take actions. 14. Citizenship, extradition; every individual has the right to obtain the Federation Alpha’s nationality. No one has the right to remove their citizenship except the state if it has a valid reason. 15. Right of asylum; if an individual is being chased/followed, they have the right to get asylum until the threat is over. 16. Right of petition; every individual has the right to organize a petition, if they collect enough votes the petition will be considered by the state. THE FINANCE SYSTEM OUR PLANS: The aim of the federation alpha is to build a nation that stays competitive throughout its existence, provides for its citizens and is always capable of growing and improving in order to provide a fun experience for every member. We start this off by focusing on the core of our nation, a capital city that we want to see become a meaningful spot and landmark in the Dual Universe history. Naturally, this will need a lot of hard work that we start of by gathering resources, what will likely fill our schedule for the first days and weeks. After this, the team would be split up into two separate groups one of them will be focusing on building spaceships to get off Alioth and the other one will need to continue mining resources. Once away from Alioth, we will search for a suitable location to begin with the building process of the capital. The first building of the capital will be the HQ, where everything will be managed from. Later on, we will start to build up different sectors like the market, storage and landing areas. For the future, there are naturally more projects, for example we planned to build apartments, roads, stores, a subway system and more. The military has also a role in this, it’s purpose is to protect the Federation Alpha, to fight the enemy, to conquer new land and even sometimes to explore. Morality: The Federation will be kind to everybody, but if we want/need something we will take it. As an example, if we conquer a territory where somebody lives, we will give its inhabitants a choice: they can leave without getting harmed or they can choose to become a citizen of The Federation Alpha and enjoy all advantages that the federation offers, which should be preferable for them. Jobs that the state will provide, will be well paid and the workers get a free living area in exchange for their work. The Rank Structure is ready. We have oriented ourselves towards the Roman ranks. Thus our Military will consist out of varius Legions. Every Legion will have there own Banner and unique Name. The Legions will consist out of Ground Forces and an own Fleet. In every Legion there wil be a lot of Different Forces such as, the Airforce, heavy tanks, Infantry, Battleships and many many more. We want to make sure that our Soldiers have a wide range of specialization to choose from, so that every player can do what he is best at.

We only accept members who are not in any other organization ( Neutral ones are fine ). Because the information that is discussed here is not for the public and must remain secret. The Riders of the Apocalypse have come to build an organization to maintain the balance in the Universe. I am building an org based on the Fremen from Dune. This group is still a work in progress and as such everyone will need to be involved in building the organizational structure of the Fremen however there are some outlines below: We will be split up into cells called Sietches. Each Sietch will be largely independent with a leader called a Naib. All of the Naibs will be on the Fremen council however, in times of crisis one member of the council will take charge of all Sietches in order to create a unified response. At all other times decisions will be made collectively by the council using a voting system. In combat the Fremen will be using guerrilla warfare tactics to gather resources and remove undesirable factions from the worlds we inhabit. At the moment we have some cooperation with other groups of orgs to enable us to get off the starting planet as quickly as possible to set up in other areas. The goal for each Sietch will be to be as invisible from the air as possible and will maintain a policy of security through obscurity unless otherwise directed by the Fremen council. I am Naib of Sietch Tabr, as we grow we will add more Sietches and assign a Naib for each one, each of whom will be part of the Fremen council. For anyone interested in building an org that you can really be proud of don't hesitate to give me a shout. First of all, I want to say hello to everyone. I were lurkering the forum since I backed the kickstarter, but due to lack of time and inspiration (and a bit of shame to be honest) I never did it. I have some ideas to play the game in my own way (ofcourse with some people at my side) And recently I ended to watch/read everything at devblog and read some points to guide my ideas (looking at you @lethys, @captaintwerkmotor and your emergent gameplay) Well, after this short introduction of myself I will show you my ORG the Unnamed warehouse safe depot. Unnamed Warehouse (UW) Our primary goal is to provide the galaxy with storage facilities, meaning that we will have a depot to everyone who needs one, ORGs or individuals. This warehouse will work more like safe deposit boxs. I know many users may think, why would we use this kind of service when we can build a pretty saffer depot in the starting/ark safe zone? the answer was easy to me in 3 points: discreetness, privacy and logistics. We will protect the identity of our customer the same way we will protect the nature of what we were ensuring: - We don't care about who are you, you want a depot so we offer you one. You pay it, then you get it. - We don't care about what are you going to store in. And we don't want to know it. - We are planning to be the safest place in the game. While you are paying we will grant the next services: - Privacy, Meaning that we can schedule you visit to never be viewed by others. - We offer you private docks to your cargoship - You will have an individual depot-room where you will enter alone. - The security of your things may vary depending on how much you pay, where we offer diferent security acces (i.e. you do not need to pay the uber security when you are only saving your recently mined resources, or accumulatting for a merchant fleet or a major cargo ship) - We offer a dock to exchange currency and goods between ORGs in a neutral and safe zone. Once we grow enough, we plan to expand the services in the way of offering logistics to transport cargos and safety rooms where you could have secret meetings in a high security place. ________________________ I only want to add some things before the end: I am actually open to have some partners (help! I can't do it alone!) but due to the nature of this business I think we will be only a few running the ORG, but hiring a lot of people to keep the secure thing, including in that part members from others ORGs or outlaws/bounty hunters. We will keep neutral, and we need a nice spot to be a really usefull warehouse, so we need to be in contact with the others ORGs . If this grow big enough you will have news from me. I expect to be able to run kind of safe box via DRMS and a huge number of automatic weapons pointing at your head, I really hope loads of rare and precious shit were stored at my facilities and loads of "pirates" would dream about surpass our defenses...so any feedback would be very appreciated
