Hey, I really liked that sound you made! A lot of love and time went into making it, I can tell~

Also I think what you are getting at might be that the nuance of sounds can really bring a game to life.

Like when you hear a helicopter coming in from far away, you may panic or be relieved who knows.
Hearing a jet overhead just letting you know someones out there.

I agree that we could use sounds like this to help the immersion and making it feel alive.

I wonder if the server could incorporate it since it'll have the.. dilation from distance, or maybe that makes it more possible?

Aw but being a rebel is so cool!

I agree with you however, we do need more information. Be even better if NQ would let us in to do a quick demo of the systems they plan to release, and see if we can work with it or not. Hint hint Nyzaltar...

There is an order for intergalactic cooperation between willing members, Cinderfall. Not only that, but several organisations intending to form Nations / Empires that may lean on each other for assistance already compose the base of the organisation.

Were working together and slowly but surly coming to conclusions and developing a system for cooperation. What we really need though is thorough and public release on the Tags and RDMS. Or for NQ to bring us in for a session to work out these systems and how we would like to use them.

Regardless of the systems allowed though we are working on and looking into being more than individual organisations vying for total dominance with only despots and nerd-dictatorships.
We hope more people will look to joining and creating an orderly society in the game and not just being anarchists, pirates, warlords.

Rather mundane topic but I think this would be quite interesting to see play out in game. Will corporations run public stargate networks? Will they charge tolls? What about in-system travel? Will people run the interplanetary bus service?

Seems like a mundane subject that is usually done by an NPC, but with DU who will do it? Will we have Player John as the local bus driver, or will we have mega corporations running fleets of custom AI controlled interplanetary transports?

I personally see all of the above happening but I'd like to hear other's thoughts in this.

This is awesome! The official lore makes the arkships seem like a united effort for the good of everyone, but here it's portrayed in an entirely different light, but it still fits. Great job!

I don't think you should compare NMS to Dual. The two games are fundamentally different.

NMS was meant to be based around exploring a massive universe at your own pace
Dual is meant to be a place for people to come together and create great things, and to fly them and achieve great feats.

The Cinderfall Syndicate was once known as the Nexus Corporation, a well-connected paramilitary and research conglomerate at the forefront of experimental technology.

Before we left our old homeworld Earth, the U.N. and various other governments around the world consumed resources, fought wars, and ravaged the land in an endless cycle of self-destruction until Earth had become a burnt cinder of its former glory. The Arkships were built as a scapegoat for these governments’ mistakes. They called the Arkship program “Project Rebirth”, advertised as salvation from the rapidly approaching HR 8210 IK Pegasi supernova’s child neutron star, but the star played no role in the U.N.’s program. Earth would have long been drained and depleted before then. Project Rebirth was a facade, a scandal to cheat the whole of humanity and cater to the elite.

With the fate of Earth seemingly sealed despite its best efforts, Nexus embraced a final attempt to bring humanity aboard the Arkships: Project Cinderfall. The cybernetworking capabilities of Nexus were at that time second to none, acclaimed as the most advanced in the world, allowing Nexus to infiltrate the United Nations’ biased Arkship selection algorithm. What had once been designed to save only the corrupt elite now encompassed a diverse population across Earth.

If the earth were the white hot flame of humanity, we are but cinders falling from our doomed homeland. Our new destiny: to rise again from the ashes, reborn as a Phoenix...

What do you think will happen when the game finally releases. How will the various factions interact, ally, fight over resources. How will the game universe itself be built by the actions of the players.

I'm very excited to see the territory warfare that breaks out with such a limited space available for the influx of players.

Some are just pessimists and don't like to wait for a game. Dont want to get their hopes up.

Others just dont care, they are burned out on kick starters, green lights and everything.

And MANY MANY "GAMERS" just want to complain about something. They do not want to contribute any ideas, they just want to say something and sound important, but dont actually care about games.

That said, subscription because I want the game to be open to evolving over time instead of stuck forever on the same hardware in a stagnant game that relies on either expansion packs or a cash shop for additional income.

Subscription because I desire this to be a quality game with class.

Like Neopolitan said, most people I know are jaded when it comes to talk of games like this. Some won't even talk about it, because they feel it isn't worth their time.

The lore or setting itself already hints at relative freedom. Earth with existing structures is no more or generally out of touch.

You have various ark ships that start anew with various (player) factions and they all more or less start again at the same time.

This means they all have to develop on their own. The rest is natural selection and luck.

So unless the devs make one, it's all player dictated more or less.

We have some multimedia additions planned for the near future. They will be added here once they are done.

With this said, we also look for those interested in multimedia creation. You know how to craft logos or edit something into something greater, for example? You have experience with video editing? There is enough work to be done and very good results may net reasonable monetary rewards - but it shouldn't be the main motivation if we consider membership.

Apart from this, those with some roleplaying experience are also more ideal candidates as we'd like to craft a more detailed background that fits into this particular setting.

And last but not least we look for those interested in creating a news-style group that will cover various occurrences later on.

Let us work together and create something that will last.

My proposed idea: Prisoner of War.

    In-game mechanic: PvP

Objective: To obtain prisoners during PvP battles to gain a desired resource. Either currency, resources, or simply a strategic negotiating tool to gain land.

How could it work: In order to be able to obtain a prisoner, you first need to make a Capture Unit. This will enable the obtaining of one prisoner per unit, and each unit will not be easy to make or acquire. Reason being, if they are too easy to make, then too many people will be taken as prisoner, which isn't ideal, and should probably only be reserved for special circumstances. It would also ensure organizations only use a Negotiation Unit when it is a strategic necessity.

I envision a Capture Unit to work much like a ball and chain. In that, when placed and activated it can target the desired player, and essentially hold them in place, moving only when the player in control of the Capture Unit, enables them to move, and move only where the controller moves.

The Capture Unit could come in two parts. A larger element of it could reside at a base. Much like a cryo-chamber. When captive has been taken by the mobile portion of the unit, which you would carry on you, they can be teleported essentially, to the cryo-prison chamber and held there.

Now, no player would want to be held indefinitely, there needs to be a limit. Long enough for ransom bartering to be effective, but not too long. If it's too short it would be ineffective.

If no ransom is agreed, there needs to be a penalty to the prisoner. That penalty, in my view, would need to be harsh enough to prompt an organization to want to rescue their comrade. So at the end of the countdown limit, if no ransom deal is reached, the prisoner must die.

Possibly ressurect at the location they were captured, or less harshly, at their own location.
