  2. Eh, I forgot to include rifles in infantry weapons ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Rifles Sniper Rifles You are right TMotor, about power armor and small mecha. Im thinking of something roughly tank sized single or double seat biped vehicle with a couple weapon mounts for stuff thats hard for infantry to carry. HMG's, Radar equipment or so forth.   3. Yes that may be. I could be inferring it wrong, from the tech demo our dear JC said they had the planets moved in closer to prove they werent just fancy sky box images. I guess I was thinking maybe he meant no sky box at all. I probably just mis-interpreted it
  4. I can't tell if you are wanting names to be locked so you cant re-use them or you want them to be reserved for your account. In most games you have a grace period to re-use a name, I think it could be easily applied to a perma death system. I think a hardcore but tempered approach would work best. Perma death in DayZ is kind of one thing, just imagine it in EvE even if you were ok with it other players might not want you, and the risk would just be so high. The game design will probably revolve around death being a relatively trivial occurance. Be you getitng jumped by pirates, falling down a cavern, or any other non consensual danger Perhaps not fully deleting your character, but automatically returning you to the character creator and spawning you at the arkship. But retaining some portion of skills and bank account?
  5. I agree it will take more resources to calculate it. Im sorry I dont remember where, I think they said they would see if it was possible or not. Just like flowing water will be localized now. My bets are with no, they arent gonna move around. however I do wonder if planets will spin on their axis to simulate day night cycles. but that doesnt have much to do with the dark planets. Yes, perhaps with LUA and radar modules/elements this can be done Halo

  7. Obligatory character creator request, furry tails and ears which replace human ears. Yes armors could be good. there has already been some detailed ideas on money, but we could bring it up again some time.
  8. I mean, Im open to any idea, Im not trying to shoot it down. We would really just need to find ways for it to co exist. Like retaining your bank account and skill, but maybe losing your assets and a large chunk of skill training?

I can blur and scrub the watermark out if you wanna use it as a background or something I could also move the watermark into another location and make it smaller, if you wanted to credit them visually in the image.   11. I don't think anything technically prevents rogue planets. I hope they exist, they'll be good for military bases and extra resources. Also, welcome to the forums littlewolf120.   12. Huh, something happened while I was working. Sorry mammoth, everyone is just on edge right now because we've been having a fight over most of these topics for over a month. I accept your desire that you think urging the game into a direction that you want is the right path, but its just one path of many. the technology behind Dual Universe has been in the works from JC Baillie and his supporters for a long time. They aren't going to switch their minds from a Massive game to single shards or split instances. Most people here as you have seen are fanatical for a true MMO game finally. I'm very excited myself for it. This concern that bad things will happen to people and that's why you want to protect yourself from the world. There are some mechanics in place for that. 1.) Finding other players or organisations for safety. There are at least 4 umbrella organisations, a few of them offer mutual protection. 2.) Arkified areas will be player created high security zones, the full workings of how safe and how permanent are a little gray. but they'll exist.   13. I uhh.. I guess you could just do it yourself. Play until you die, then return to character select and delete character. But, I guess I just don't understand, you would be giving up days, months or years of skill training and start over with nothing
  14. I like melee combat, I do, Teras Kasi Masters represent. I would like to present the notion that with a good selection of ranged weapons and armor do we need melee weapons? More so than if we need them, either for combat or aesthetics, can we remotely balance a melee oriented skill tree with a ranged weapon skill tree? Stamina might balance the initial problems with closing range, but what about actual DPS. I have a feeling the weapon mode of the Nano Former might have infinite ammo, or regenerate somehow. Although, on a side note, a long time ago I suggested scaling shield hardeners. A shield with moderate health pool, but its resistance becomes increasingly stronger the more fire it takes. basically it was a thought for tank ships, and to reduce battles being nothing more than two blobs shot calling who to try and insta kill. but it could be adapted for ground
  15. well, If I was a developer and was going to take a suggestion seriously. I would want to know a lot of information on its play-ability and what else it might impact. For us the start of figuring out these weapons will probably lay in balancing averages, not everything will be balanced, but it will be balanced within its technical capacity. A maximum lock on range for weapons. A max firing range for each weapon type. Different bullet types? Different energy types? You can get technical about the ability of each gun with science, but in the end its just statistics for calculating damage. The game probably isnt going to actually think about the shell in the firing chamber, a hammer hitting it, the explosive gases propelling a bullet down the barrel, the spin of the bullet. All of that is over the top, maybe you use it in your mind in the calculation of how many meters the weapon should fire in the game, but we just need to think of finding a balanced feel. I believe as far as we know, well be in first person. So perhaps a maximum range for infantry is in order. 64-128 meters upper limit, for balancing purposes. Planetary Section: Infantry: Pistol Carbine Assault Rifle Thrown Explosives (Grenades, sticky bombs) Shoulder fired rockets Power Armor / Exo suit mech (Space marine, or like D.VA) (Access to the infantry weapons) Gatling / Auto Canon Light Artillery - Mortar, Grenade Launchers Radar or other support modules Hovercraft - (Tanks, Armored Personnel Carriers, etc) ( access to the Power armor weapons) Light canons (faster single target damage) Heavy Battle tank turret (slower alpha damage, or aoe) Small ship and Space Section: Ran out of time and ideas, but OP started a good list. be back later pals.
  16. Sure I'm fine with any kind of system. If I have to be weaker for being smaller, ok. If I'm disadvantaged for having floppy ears and a bouncy tail, thats good to. Hmm, yes on the D-9, I know this is kind of abstract from your idea, but it gave me a thought. If when you go out exploring the monoliths for rare blue print modules, or whatever else they are going to give. Perhaps they could have one of the events be, you are infected by an alien retrovirus. The outcomes could be, to seek treatment. or fail to seek treatment, and turn into some alien creature. Will your nanoformer or some other technology, kill you or separate your mind from your body and revive you at a Resurrection Node? Would the infected body remain as a dangerous and strong NPC for anyone new coming to that monolith to have to deal with?

  18. This may be true, people do absolutely love it when the Prince Nyzaltar blesses them with a personal response. However, Nyza must be under alot of pressure, we just have to perk up and help him. Sure its his job, but were all friends, all we have to do is refresh ourselves from this dark slump and take some of the burden off. We can be that community that needs little moderation! and tries to help the developers, even if they just kick us back, you gotta come back like a masochist. Either well creep them out or theyll love us. I think we win either way.

  22. I'm not quite so fond of segregating weapons into specific early or late game types of weapons, but I do understand perhaps you are just getting at that not every weapon is made equally. I'm in love with gatling guns, is that similar enough to be in the auto-cannon type. Nothing like unloading thousands of incendiary shells into things I could try to help with balancing a complete weapon system idea, maybe in coordination with twerk and his knowledge of theoretical game physics. I'm not much else except for making sure it feels good in the game, which sometimes isn't always accurate to science. The forums could use a theoretical system to suggest to the devs. we haven't had a strong idea thread like that for a while.
  23. So much destruction, what ever happened to trying to kill each other with turbo jeeps and knife fights. Sorry I didnt mean to de-rail the topic. Maybe this isnt as destructive as your tungsten rod drops, but what do you think of having small ships loaded with volatile parts, using an ai script to reign terror down over a planet as a bunch of small kamikaze craft slam into it?
  24. Unexpected disconnects, unintentional or not, could be handled by characters "Blacking out" or otherwise passing out in their location. Give them a debuff timer, where other players can come over and by some means, medical or not, refresh the timer for a set number of resets. If their timer expires, they die and go to the or their bound Res Node. Perhaps we can look for asking for hibernacles, and a drag system. Drag the unconscious players to a hibernacle, put them in, freeze them until they log back in?
  25. Perhaps with a successful kickstarter, character modifications (animal ears and tails nya!), and possibly even some alien creatures or extra depth to the monoliths will be possible?
