Skimming over the thread, I can safely say that I would be pulling my pledge and boycotting the game if it turns into a censored SJW shithole to "protect the feelings" of degenerates whose sole purpose in life is to try and find things to be offended by.

That said, I can completely understand and support reasonable rules that ruin the gameplay on an immersive level for majority of the people, because one person decided to be a troll. An example of this would be naming policies in older MMOs back in the 1990s / 2000s, where names like "qwertyuio1234" or "Aragorn513" were not allowed for the sake of creating a living, realistic and immersive world for the playerbase. In context of DU, I can completely understand and support them not wanting planets that consist fully of dick pics drawn all over them as an example.

But to go back to the point, in game conflict is part of the game - regardless of whether that conflict originated from in game politics of one organisation to another, or a group of players encroaching on someone else's in-game property. RL politics and censorship that has zero relation to the gameplay or immersion value of the game, has no place in it whatsoever.

As for people who cannot differentiate between reality and an online MMO, or who try to bring their personal real world issues into the development and structure of an online game, need to piss off and crawl back to under whatever rock they feel "oppresses" them.

EDIT: Fixed a typo and split a paragraph.

    Hi everyone,

    Just a friendly reminder:
We respect diversity. However, forum rules also indicate that subjects related to sexuality, religions or real life politics aren't allowed (even in the off topic section).
The reason is simple: these subjects don't contribute to the discussions about the game and they are quickly a source of conflict in any game community (as this topic showed once more). So please avoid to discuss such thing on the forum in the future.

    On a side note:
According to the official lore, there will be no playable furry creatures. Only humans. So, as sad as it may sounds for certains members of the community, don't expect to be able to visually represent such character in-game. We prefer to be clear right from the start, to avoid giving false hopes on that topic.

This thread is now going to be closed.
Thank you all for your understanding.

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.

    Hello, KhittyKhatt.

I will advise you not to make this an issue on the Dual Universe Forums. We have dwelt in peace for well over a year (getting close to two, actually) without any strife from any sexual orientation or religious factions. Be a darling and keep it that way, will you?

Kael is not a rash person and from what I've seen and heard from you, it's not unlikely that you are overreacting. To be straight with you, you are overreacting. Kael's post was neither discrimination nor bigotry and is well in line with the Forum rules.

We all appreciate the occasional intense discussion, but this path leads us nowhere but barking up the wrong tree. Real life issues belong in the DM or off the Forums - not on it.

Calling names is not a sign of maturity either and I will humbly but in all seriousness tell you to sort your issues out with him privately.

Kael, let's calm down a bit, shall we? There are worse things out there, but I understand your point completely.

    Cheers.

Or just put a fence around the area and call it mining site, if it's logically connected and locally limited. Alternatively, players can fix it.

Besides, I doubt many player organizations will have their (owned) landscapes or trade hubs look like crap. They still have to mine? See above, put a fence around it and make it obvious with signs.

For "wild mining", come up with faction volunteers or some other initiative to fix it properly. Already did it in Minecraft where the surrounding area of the city (new player spawns and safe trade hub) was bombed. It was a bit of work but it all looked nice and green afterwards again. If you don't want to fill once elevated spaces (would take more resources and time to even it out) you can also just cover the very first layer of blocks to be faster.

    Dear Vulture Corporation,

Your organization has been present to me ever since I've joined the Dual Universe community. No wonder, since you've been here for quite some time, and you have been one of the very first orgs to be founded, and well prepared from the start.

You have a creative project, you have features that are unique to your organization even with various groups dedicated to pretty much everything there is to do in Dual Universe, you have a very clear, well-built and convincing structure, you offer fun and advantageous opportunities to potential members and partners, you have a your own website, recruitment and presentation videos, a meaningful description that doesn't flood its reader with unnecessary information, you are active, obviously reasonable, not too strict, serious and show an amount of effort that is close to uncompeted in the whole community.
    - If you ask me, you have everything a great organization needs. From the way it looks to me, you should have what it takes to be among the best.

And yet, I noticed the strong lack of interest in your project several times now and couldn't help but wonder why that is. Even thinking about it for days, nothing would come to mind.
As all orgs struggle in their search for members, your struggles stays undeservedly unrewarded. I can see how that can become very frustrating.

So I am here to express my respect and support to you, your members and your project. I'd like to wish you best of luck and the knowledge that someone out there is rooting for you! Keep up the good work.

    We're still looking.

Sure, as potential applicant you might wonder: "Why you over the others?"

In the end, it's a question of preference and style. That's what it boils down to. It's hard to say "this group is better" or "this is worse". The pros and cons of one might be reverse for the other. And surely, there are many great organizations out there, just as there are likely not so good ones out there. It's subjective.

Perhaps you want a very optimistic recruitment pitch. I prefer to be realistic. While it might be part of the whole "immersion" or "roleplaying part" I actually do not prefer buzzword bingo but getting straight to the point at times. The advantage is that you know what to expect.

    -----------------

If you look for safety in numbers in an individual organization while possibly getting everything handed to you, then we're not the right fit just as we have no intend to conquer the known universe. While that preference is understandable, we instead can offer a more tight-knit environment so far as we grow. Of course, if we are realistic we can never compete with the massive manpower of larger organizations. But do we want to? Others can do more but you don't always have to compare yourself no matter what.

Walk your own path and see if you like it. You might just be happier with a few challenges here and there. That may carry a different taste in a smaller group compared to a larger one. Just as hardships might be higher, the reward or accomplishment will also be higher. Besides, smaller groups are possibly less volatile over time. If I look back at our first campaign in Minecraft, I know it was worth it. We got through many hardships and overcame them only to rise to the top factions in that old server community after having beaten all notable raiders and adversaries with our partners.

It was a team effort all in all and we look forward to walking a similar, perhaps even better path again for Dual Universe, should it not fail.

'But what is the deal now', you might ask? We intend to portray a Corporation with more focus on immersion or elements of RP without expecting that people play a role all day. Three core branches, many things to do. In addition we have ties to an alliance already, so we don't stand alone. If you want a challenge by helping a slowly growing organization, then this is the right place.

Should you be interested, simply send a PM first.

If not, should you be looking for an organization: Good luck in your search. When in doubt, give it time, compare, contact the individual organizations and ask questions rather than joining the next best you see.

I currently don't consider this to become a giant issue. Perhaps it could change, perhaps I am yet care free, perhaps for others some things might become a huge issue but I think a good thing to have is a thick(er) skin while trying to police things in the game first.

You don't like what someone built? Try to evoke change through the game if you can.

If it's really bad or breaking TOS etc you can still consider reporting it. A thick skin is good regardless because chances are that a "possibly offensive object" can be placed like that for many to see for a while. Alternatively they'd have to ban how certain blocks are connected, which I don't see happening.

I also think that the amount of questionable objects will be limited all in all. It don't think there will suddenly be swastikas, genitalia, hate speech etc with a relationship to reality or just childish things everywhere.

@Kane Hart: while we can understand your confusion about other people than Novaquark's staff able to create topic in this section, this is not a valid reason to reply in an agressive way to other community members. True, Lights may have not posted in the most relevant section. However, you could have mentioned the issue .This small issue is going to be fixed quickly. In the meantime please stay courteous, even in cases where you think someone has done something wrong.

Dual Universe Volunteer Forum Moderator Guidelines

The following are the guidelines for the Dual Universe volunteer moderators. They are written with the moderation team in mind, but have been posted in the spirit of transparency so that all community members can see the expectations we have for our volunteers.

    Moderators are Anonymous
Moderators are given an account with a unique user name. Moderators are not permitted to reveal their real or forum identities to anyone for any reason. That includes friends and other community members. We take this very seriously.

    Moderators are Impartial
All moderation is done fairly and impartially. Moderators are expected to treat all members of the community the same. This means you may be required to moderate posts and comments from your friends, maybe even your best friend. It’s a difficult thing to be impartial when dealing with friends, but it is imperative that you treat everyone the same and show absolutely no favoritism.

Moderators Always Remain Calm and Respectful
As a moderator, you may become the focus of a community member’s anger or frustration. Remember: Be nice. It’s not personal. Even if they are insulting you or making outrageous accusations, be nice. You are simply the target, not the cause (probably) of their anger/frustration. Never respond in kind and never, ever respond out of anger or frustration. This only leads to an endless spiral of anger and nothing is resolved. That said, please know you are not expected to take abuse or be subjected to mistreatment from the community. Abuse of moderators will be addressed by the Community Team.

    Moderators are Here to Help
Moderators should be as helpful as possible. Even if a question has been asked a hundred times, understand that the person asking it might be new and this is their first interaction with the community. A helpful and welcoming response can turn a curious newbie into an outstanding community member. A curt or unkind response, could turn them away from the community and the game. Always offer the best answer you can, with links if possible. Of course, after answering their question or providing links to the answer, it’s perfectly acceptable to introduce them to the search feature and suggest they check it out the next time they have a question.

    Moderators are Proactive
When a conflict arises between community members, a good moderator will step in and try to defuse the situation. Sometimes all that’s required is a friendly reminder that we all are passionate about the game and we should respect differing viewpoints. If things get out of hand, then locking or hiding specific posts or possibly the entire thread until a Community Manager can review it is a good option. If you do this, contact a community manager immediately so we can take appropriate action.

    Moderators are Volunteers Not Employees
We consider our Moderators valuable assets and we are deeply appreciative of the time they dedicate to making the forums a better place. However, it is imperative that moderators, and all members of the community, keep in mind that moderators are not an official Novaquark employee. Moderators should never place themselves in a situation where their comments may be construed as an official statement or position.  Likewise, moderators should never post in a manner that suggests or implies they are a Novaquark employee. Doing so can create serious issues for the moderator and for us.

    Moderators are under NDA
From time to time Moderators may be provided with information in advance of its public release. You are expected to keep this information in strict confidence and not share it until or unless otherwise instructed, in writing, by Novaquark.

    What can Moderators do?
The following tools and abilities are available to Moderators:
Able to see and read all reported posts. Access to the Moderation area and Tools Move threads between sections. Hide specific posts or entire threads. Merge threads.
