  1. Not a bad idea. I would recommend joining one of the larger alliances. This project would suit it rather well.
  2. Damn you and your SPOILERS!! On a serious note, big ass mecha-suits are a possibility. Ungine does support moving parts. Such as rotors, springs, hinges, etc. Theoretically, it is possible. How will it perform? Hopefully, better than that in Space Engineers.

    NPCs

I doubt we will have NPCs that fight for us, but merchants and shopkeepers makes perfect sense.
  4. This is something that's been partially discussed in a topic I created a while ago. I'm not certain of anything but I can say that at the moment we're getting pre-made weapons. However, the development of our own weapons is something I see being added as it makes sense. Every faction using the same weapons even though they may be star systems away, doesn't. While technology can travel, it's not fun to use the same equipment your enemy faction is also using.

Actually, NPCs are basically the same as a player. The only difference is that it's not controlled by a player, it's controlled by a computer. Which means it'll follow the same rules as the player's character. Meaning it follows along with the devs algorithm to prevent lag caused by an overabundance of players. http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/1414/feature/10930/How-the-Games-Single-Shard-Server-Works.html
  6. I'm pretty sure there will be some system that makes sense. You can't just have a ship that smashes into another ship without an equal and opposite reaction.

While computer terminals make sense, yamamushi is absolutely right. I would much rather NPCs over a computer.
  8. Well, if aliens do exist in the universe, which they probably do, it adds depth to the game. While you are exploring planets, rebuilding civilization, etc, you have to be careful not to run into another existing civilization that can tear you apart in seconds. Besides, the point of exploring is to discover new things. Not everyone will be satisfied with discovering only planets.
  9. *Observes from a distance, eating space fries* "..." *Looks at the hole clearly visible outside the cap's house* "..." *Turns back to the two men and continues to watch for a little* "..." *Hears an odd noise. Glances around confused. Now looks at his feet and sees a face. He raises and eyebrow* *The face grins back at him as it disappears. From where the two men are standing, a massive dust cloud can be seen where Dominar was moments ago.
  10. Yes, I know. However, that doesn't mean things such as Exo-Suits cannot exist. Especially as there are basically confirmed Alien ruins and technology to be found.
  11. I'm pretty sure that when it comes to adapting to the environment, such as a cave, (because humans left Earth to live in a cave. lol, jokes) there will be technology to help humans adapt. Not crazy ass basement science. (Eg, Night Vision Goggles) What would be more practical is having exoskeleton suits (Such as the existing flightsuit) These suits would support the adding and removal of different modules. Such as Night Vision, inbuilt oxygen systems (For ye scoober needs), perhaps GOTG style booty boosters, and so on. Personally, I hope this gets added. I wouldn't mind having my own personal AI. Much like Master Cheif's Cortana. My point is, this is a much more practical and doable alternative to genetic mutations. (I still support aliens)
  12. That's where factions come in. You may already know this, but, there are a ton of factions out there (Actually like, 10. Such as the DUA (See signature ) who are acting as the Republic, An Empire or two, A few Alliances, some companies, etc. If players want to go solo, feel free, but if you want to start out as part of a 'team', it works by joining a faction. So that makes starting teams (Like WoW's Horde and Alliance) useless. On the topic of different races, I have to agree with Vylqun on this. The human race will not have evolved within 500 years for there to be clearly different races among them, apart from the existing ones. I do, however, hope they add in playable aliens from existing civilizations further down the line of DU's development. With all the exploring going to be done by players and the planned concept of alien ruins and technology to be discovered, it makes sense to one day have aliens as a playable race. Perhaps for those who funded the Kickstarter program starting end of this year. Realistically, if there are aliens out there, they are most likely on a planet similar to Earth (Aka, a planet with water, capable of life, etc) It has been confirmed that there are already aliens in DU. If you've read the short story written for DU, you'll know the main character encounters one. (He doesn't see it or speak with it, but it's obvious it's there. He communicates with it via some statue mojo which is actually really interesting, in my opinion. (If you haven't already, I recommend you check it out. It explains a lot of DU's lore and was a very fun read) So, to summarize, player made and run factions will act as your starting teams. Playable races? Perhaps in the future. Aliens? Yes, please.
  13. Steam is a great place to advertise, play, and buy games. However, most devs take the term 'early access' too literally.

    NPCs

    I suppose so.
  15. The Devs plan on having a sort of 'early access'. However, it won't be anything like Steam Early Access as this time, the game will actually be ready for it. So the end of this year/beginning of next year should be when the first playable, and hopefully stable, version is released.
  16. Interesting indeed. Hopefully, we'll be able to go reasonably deep. I'm not too bothered if we can't go deeper than a few kilometers, as stated above.

    Mech Suits

That and there are so many people requesting them by now. Originally, the Devs of SE were not planning on adding planets. The only reason they did was because so many people requested them. Hopefully the Devs of DU see the request early on and make a decision now.
  18. Let me clear some things. It has been roughly confirmed the Devs are going to start crowdfunding by the end of this year. Which means a playable alpha for crowd-funders (hopefully) shortly after. Edit: Just realized someone already said this, ma bad.

    Mech Suits

I really, really hope the Devs consider this. It's perfect.
  20. Ehhh alright. I'd be happy to pay $15 bucks a month if the game is everything it promises to be.
  21. I agree. Us Australians don't get much love when it comes to RP. I'm up for starting a 'faction' dedicated to RP if anyone is interested.
  22. You're correct in every point your made. Which is pretty much what I was saying. WoW is a very successful game that charges $15 a month. Dual Universe has the potential to be the next best thing. In my opinion, the game's monthly fee shouldn't exceed $10. At least for now.
