    If you read

and listen to interviews: NQ clearly goes for a complicated route here. It wouldn't make ANY sense to go for a player run market and then sell elements there via bot sell orders.
In the videos there is ofc an unlimited amount of elements in the inventory - to test things. But they will definitely go for a full blown player run production cycle

Same here, happy to pre-pay for a couple of months or so upfront to "help" NQ with dev and market signal interest.

The visions and evidence are convincing, as is the MVP state of the game (when reached) already looks like it will be high fun even at pre-alpha, so expect when it is MVP it really will be; which is (or will be) immense achievement itself if realized.

That said, the combat game system, is something very big to consider how it feels when it is developed, as we've seen none of that major game system so far.

I love the sound of making "replicas". I could make some Star Citizen "Antique Spaceships" : The perfect way to razzle and dazzle your dinner party guests with, along with complementary free mints to suck on while enjoying the viewing!" All within your underground Dr. No inspired secret fortress replica, away from prying eyes, of course. With price tags of real money also replicating the actual $ values on the website perhaps with a 50% price one-time only price discount... Of course resplendent with a mini-army of Mooks (services and very affordable pricing schemes: Please pick-up a leaflet) for additional effect, lounging around to complete the day's entertainment (and promote sales of course between dealers, should force be necessary).

Another project that I'm sure will see the light of day: Wipeout racing tracks! Whoever creates this can charge fees for racers and place bets for further entertainment: Planet Wiped Out! Weapons disabled until the final lap!

Yes, and a freeware is not what DU is, it is its own Intellectual Property. People can make all the look-alike Mario castles they want, Nintendo does not own the concept of castles or plumbers or dragons for that matter.

Not the same thing to begin with

You can have market analytics displayed on the market unit for that specific market unit's or territory's ttraffic in the market to predict the "flow". It's not hard to code, it's literally as easy as making vectors displaying a graph. You don't need to have omniscience in the form of knowing what every single market i nthe whole server's marekt units have in price ranges. You know, be social, ask around, be a human being.

Problem is, "market bots" is how stupid people get exploited by Insider Trading.

As for the API thing, they said it's not a priority of theirs.

Also, NQ has said in the past they won't allow of player market bots. You know, for the same reason :

    1) you won't have drones do the fight on your behalf.
    2) you won't have offline protection on your ship.
    3) you won't have automated turrets on your ship.

You know, so the game is not "one player per ship".

But hey, since I feel itchy, here let me punch holes in your logic some more :

How exactly will NQ know what I discussed with people off of the game?  Number one lapse in logic "Comms records". Apparently, you don't know what Discord is.

Cargo Manifests... why would I want the whole server to know what I have stored on my station? Why? So I can have tactical pirate attacks launched? "Oh hey, this station is a pinyata for loot, so much shit in it, look ,we just found out by the API keys that got leaked to us!". You are asking for NQ to force everyoen to show their hands to everyone on the server. You know, also known as "Stupid Poker".

Station Logs : Yey, let's show everyone where people have docked. That won't go bad, it's not like mercenaries will grief you easy peasy that way. They won't even have to look for you, set up a script, run an API key for anyone's location - which is not hard to get someone's API key lol, EVE is notorious for this, spies are a bitch - and voila, grief on demand.

Such a brilliant plan, so far all I see is : "Give me tools to make  grief, scam and trolling bots pl0x!"

I am a scammer, but at least I do it manually and have to actually read the market analytics thoroughly to do my thing. Your suggeestion just insulted my scammer self in a fundamental level as a scammer, a scoundrel and a ruffian.

Also, no amount of Bots will be able to predict a market move that involves things like a war. Nothing wil lbe able to predict that. Only thing that will be able to inform you of such a thing is knowledge of current events and ties (bribing or social ones) with people of access to high comamnd to get a knowledge of "hey, war will break out around X region, move your assets to Alpha station if you want to set up a monopoly when the war starts, the Y alliance uses Beta ships, so buy a lot of bluepritns cheap and sell them high."

You know, the above example? That's how you actually make money. Bots are only good for adjusting prices according to the Point-1 Rule - and even then, it's risky.

We don't know enough about the final implementation of DU's mechanics to say with confidence that "nothing will be bot-able". There are some very resourceful people around, and there's no doubt that many will attempt it, given that playtime can be earned via buying DAC with ingame currency.

What NQ needs to do is to make sure that the EULA is clear and their monitoring systems are able to identify and flag "suspicious" behaviour.

the problem in eve is that people use bots on paid accounts and those people are not banned until some petitions submitted against them or until they use RMT too much. The main problem in such games is that if developers do not ban most of them on early stages - this may hurt economy of the game.

Eh. I think the idea of having some advanced copyright protection mechanism in the game would be a bit dumb. Once the game starts people are going to start creating a wide variety of designs and after a year or two, many of the most common designs will already be 'taken'. Anyone who joined after would be at a disadvantage since they have to try and create something new or lose most of their income to someone else.

I think some people overestimate exactly how creative they can be as well. You're not going to create some innovative design that will change the face of the game and no one else thought of so everyone will want to copy its not rocket science to figure out that reducing mass makes the ship faster, or adding more thrusters makes in more maneuverable. No one is going to 'discover a way to make engines perform 30% better that no one else thought of'. The game may not have predefined ship types but general ship classes will emerge anyways. The point of blueprints is less about protecting you intellectual property than it is about facilitating production.

Succeeding at industry will be less about 'having amazing designs that no one else has ever thought of' and more about delivering the right quantity ships to the right locations at the right price.

Copyright Infringement only kicks in if the person who is making a copy of a trademarked property makes money off of it, NQ does not make money off of it, they didn't develope the X-Wing Ripoff, and they do not directly profit off of it. People buy DACs, NQ is not responsible  for what people do with their DACs' money in-game.

In this case, NQ is not making money out of the intellectual property of said copyrighted concepts, like the X-Wing.

For easy referrence, NQ can easily point out to the Marvel Comics VS City of Heroes case, where it's obvious thE creators of the MMORPG City of Heroes were not to be held accountable for their users' creations - Captain USA , Steel Man, The Incredible Bulk, White Widow, Hawksight, Rick Furry , etcetera.

Also, NQ can easily make a database of copyrighted names that can't be appointed onto constructs, like X-Wing , USS Enterprise, (Super) Star Destroyer or Battlestar Galactica. As long as people don't name them these names, NQ has no need to deal with the issue itself.

So, it's time to make the Hee(greek X)-Wing Fighter, the AstroCombatant Galaxia, the USS Enterpreneur and the (UIltra) Interstellar Destroyer.

Who are the Dual Universe Wayfarers?
A group of explorers that share a passion for discovering what secrets Dual Universe has to offer.  This stretches from discovering new planets in the farthest reaches of the galaxy to diving through the deepest seas. If there is something to discover, we will find it.

    For the Individual:
Currently there is a space program with one of our sponsor organisations that will provide ships during alpha and beta for the avid explorer. Don't like building ships but want to go to another planet? Come be part of an exploratory crew.
Don't want to leave Alioth?  Do you prefer discovering the secrets of the planet chosen as the destination for the Novark? We have a place for you too.

Membership in this organisation won't have any impact on your other organizations. You can be member of multiple groups and leave this one anytime, as you wish.

But I don't want to join!
In the future, DU wayfarers will support those that don't want to join any organizations by giving those lone wolves access to job boards. You DU you.

    For Organisations:
DU Wayfarers is a neutral organisation, accepting sponsorship's by other organisations.  A great test-bed for more experimental craft.  Information gathered in exploration missions will be shared with the sponsor. Also organisations will be able add their jobs to DU Wayfarers job boards.

Sending a representative early is best.

    All this is my applying common sense and what I know of other development cycles, it is 100% speculation and making assumptions on my end but IMO it is sensible;

Currently the game is in Pre-Alpha, it was originally expected the game would go into Alpha1 in September which puts development roughly 6 months behind the original schedule.

If you have any understanding of game development you will know that beta is at least 10-12 months away at this time.
NQ has stated that the next round of backing packs (Supporter Packs) will give access to Alpha2 stage, we are not at Alpha1 yet

Since it is 8 weeks to 2018 it would be optimistic to expect Alpha1 to start this year let alone Alpha2 which I'd guess is at least 6-8 months out. There is nothing wrong with that as (again) this is normal and to be expected as it aligns with the 6 month delay they ran into this year.

While NQ may decide to open up the funding pages and offer packs to gain access at Alpha2 in the next 8 weeks, it would IMO make more sense for that to happen shortly after Alpha1 starts so they have a good idea of when they will be able to start Alpha2 as normally progress will become more predictable once you wrap up pre-Alpha.

A full game loop, playable game in beta should be available by this time next year. I see no reason to expect DU to turn into a CIG production as far as ever expanding features and development which will basically push out actual release indefinitely. While I do not see NQ release the game in 2018 I can see it happen around Q2 2019.. which basically means that they can stick to the current 6 month delay. As a result I would expect the initial idea of having Alpha2 access packs out by Q4 2017 to be available around the end of Q1 2018 instead.

Again, speculation and assumptions, but IMO very reasonable ones. I am not part of the NQ team, have no actual insight in to where they are or what they plan so yes, all mine..

NQ really need to review and update their announcement posts. If only to stop people from having incorrect expectations and/or using outdated info to misinform others. The Q4 timeline for the packs was discussed and reverted in a later post iirc and it would only make sense at this time. As development is at least 6 months behind schedule right now and the availability of supporter packs should be more aligned with the actual development cycle and access start point this date should be pushed back.

Again, all IMO and not based on anything else but. It's fully up to NQ to do as they want/need to and still hoping to be surprised. Also where we are now is really to be expected in a development cycle of this scale and nothing bad or out of the ordinary, just needs to have expectations set/adjusted correctly.

You confuse automation with artifical intelligence - like most people unfamiliar with the tertms tend to also confuse "carbine" and "rifle".

Automation is me doing a flip-and-burn by pressing one button.

A.I. would be for me to do nothing while my ship does all the flying for me on its own on a loop.

Lua is used to make macrocommands - macro, greek word for "long" or "vast". Lua is there to perform REALLY complicated tasks for you, not for you to not need to do anything at all.

Stop asking for crap like that.

Also, the LORE is pretty clear why A.I. are not liked in DU's universe. People in that timeline of events had seen A.I. taking every aspect of their lives away and due to the A.I. not going Papa Skynet's way, they were lucky and it didn't rebel.

In fact, Aphelia (the Novark A.I.) has tha greek word for its name that means "Naivety". Take what you will out of the A.I's name, prolly they coded it to nmaive, cause naive people are spinless and are incapable of acting in a cunning way, or lack any paranoia to be subtle. There is an ancient greek saying, "aphelis osan moron". Yes, that "moron", it's the same "moron" used today, which refers to people who think like babies and the phrase literally means "naive like baby". There is a common-day phrase that has usurped that phrase of antiquity. "I wasn't born yesterday", or, you can say that Aphelia is just a "moron" that "was born yesterday" that will do whatever you ask of her, like, train you with ways to murder people or save your bacon when you die - regardless if you are a known serial killier or not.

I know, that's some heavy philosophical shit.

We're about 8 weeks from the end of 2017 and in pre-alpha. The planning you quote was based on being in Alpha two months ago and even then that would have been optimistic. It's safe to say it will be quite a while for the game to get to beta under normal game development cycle expectations. Suggesting a Q4 2017 timeline is simply unrealistic, add 10-12 months to that at least. Personally I'd be surprised if we get to beta in 2018, that said, this is not unexpected nor should it deter anyone as it is a perfectly normal development cycle.. I just feel NQ may have been too optimistic on their projections and it may be good if they come out and correct this with a more realistic expected timeline

I do believe we will have a playable game with full game loop by this time next year though which will fulfil the original Kickstarter timeline (expected December 2018)

That's administration. People confuse administration with politics. It's not the same.

Most people want to be "Supreme Galactic Commander" but when the griefing hits them they are like "oh, this game is so bad, so toxic, why are people attacking me"

Why? Cause a guy paid me to drive that person to quitting their position - or the game altogether - cause I am a merc and I just do that for a living. That's the kind of rude awakening I am talking of.

Anyone who wants to be "top dog" should accept the fact they'll be griefed a lot. It's how the sandbox goes.

Hi RadFallout100 and welcome on the official Dual Universe forum.

No, there won't be any single player or LAN Mode, because it's not the vision of the game. The goal is to gather the whole community in the same game universe.
There are already many games enabling players to host their own server and build what they want (Minecraft, Space Engineers, Empyrion...) and Dual Universe aims to provide a different game experience. Private investors and backers have supported the game for the original vision, so no development time will be spent to deviate from this vision. This is one of the few topics that aren't opened to discussion.

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.
