    Whenever I think of stealth I think of ship technology. So when I saw this post about personal stealth ideas it got me thinking. Yes, there is the situation with names coming up over a player but I want to put out other ideas for espionage. 
     
    (1) Be able to steal or forge a key card in order to get into a door.
     
    (2) Like previously stated, by others, have an invisibility suit. (One can be seen at close range but it is good to get past some things) 
     
    (3) Have a hacking device that can obscure doors, machines, or even people's "radar"
     
    Apologies if this is not exactly on topic and apologies if this has already been said. I did not read all the comments.

    Anything that I can make that will allow me to get close enough to board a vessel undetected, subsequently incapacitating the crew and running off with their cargo. I mean…. Snow cone maker, I wanna make a snow cone maker

    Ships being something you can build and their different interactive consoles are cool and fun. But what about some different systems you could build onto your ship? Have a satellite dish that upon being installed, linked via interface and used from a console could be turned and used to scan?  Say your in space and see a planet, access the scanner station, station would give a camera view from the satellite dish showing where its pointed, direct it to the planet and hit scan. The scan could report back that life is detected or bases or even ships on the planet. Or if your in space you could point it in a direction and scan to see if there are other ships in that direction.
     
       Teleporters... Beam me up Scotty! To have a teleportation station with a console would be cool. Put the teleporter down and a teleport station near by, link them from a ui on the teleporer itself then have someone activate or an auto sequence activate from the console. Say you go to the console that is linked to the teleporter and interact. It could have a list of other teleporters within a particular range that you could select. Upon selecting it, you could either manually activate it if you have more than one to operate your ship or on your team. If you only have yourself then you could select the one to be sent to and hit the auto countdown to send you in say 10 seconds allowing you to get on the teleporter. This mechanic helps with ground to ship and ship to ship traveling as long as you are in range. This would allow you to go back and forth without having to land your ship or take a shuttle or combat ship back and forth every time. Also if your in a fight you need to keep an eye on your transporter as you never know if the enemy will try to beam on board and try to take over from within.
     
       Stealth systems. A cloaking system would be cool to have as well. If your a space pirate and someone sees you from a mile away that kinda ruins the surprise raid you were gonna do in taking their goods. Having the ability to cloak your ship would be nice as then you could get close and attack. Also with the radar system you could simply run a check of, is ship cloaked? Yes, report ship to scanner false, or if not cloaked report ship to scanner true. This allows cloaked ships to be hidden from scans if you don't want them to be detected. That is just an idea for hiding cloaked ships from scanner.
     
       These are just 3 systems I would like to see in the game to help with the whole space exploration and combat systems. They are ideas that would be cool to see implemented but also systems that, at least 2 of, are used today. Scanners we have on aircraft and submarines to see where other aircraft, subs or ships are. Cloaking we kind of use, we have the stealth bombers that are used by the Air Force to help negate detection. Though my idea for the ship is a little more than that it would still be cool to have. As for the teleporters, those are just amazing and exist in just about any space shows or movies and would make sense if your that far advanced and add to the gameplay.

    And Cornflakes uses  *Logic*     it's super effective.
    But why would said manifest automatically tell you who everybody else is whenever you look at them? Implants maybe? But humans like privacy most of the time.

    Like Cap'n said above, they were in a debug mode.
     
    I really hope that player names are not automatically displayed above them. I don't want to wander into a giant city and have all the sights ruined by a mass of names floating around everywhere. 
     
     
    If outfit customization is a thing, we may come to recognize players by their appearance if we see them enough. 
     
    Crosshairs over a player showing their name would be okay, but I like the idea of having to interact with someone to get their identity first, even though it's arguably not something that most people would like.

    I understand when you target them, but still I have never liked that system, because of two reasons, 
    1)  you shouldnt get to know my name which cant be changed if I dont tell you.  especially in an immersive game like this.
    2)  if I am hiding, and you don't see me, but happen to mouse over my location, my name pops up.  It takes the ability to hide out of all of these kinds of games.
     
    I think for more realism, it should show PLAYER, for name until we have chatted, and I authorize you to view my name, then from that point on when you see me, or mouse over etc, it shows my name.

    the only problem is, it looks like it automatically displays your name above your head.   Which I hate in a game, cause you don't know me how do you already know my name

    Can you be so kind and implement MP3 upload (or integration of soundcloud) and futuristic 3D MODEL OF BOOMBOX???
    (place from where MP3/Soundcloud music will be reproduced)
    Why? For playing live concerts (bands) or DJ gigs, semi-live performances.

    Also there can be official - DUAL STADIUM & DUAL CLUB! Every friday there can be virtual concert of real band or music producer... With some kind of voting system on community site (???). It will be ideal for starting musicians, bands... (you must have soundcloud, official band webpage or official FB group, twitter)
    You will hear music only in house or ship or huge hall = house (stadium). So in open space there will be official game  soundtrack.
    For having your own boombox you must buy special blueprint and mine minerals and manufacture boombox (same as for vehicles, weapons etc).
     
    DUAL GALLERY -
    also please make place for visual artists, streetartist, graffiti artists, computer artists, visual designers - by uploading PNG to Dual Gallery. Simply some places for creativity... Also with some kind of voting system which artists will have art exposition (concert can be every friday, gallery exposition for one week). Also you will be able to buy that painting as DECORATIVE PANEL for your house or ship.
     
    This can be nice for people. Also there can be entry tickets (minimal price) so it will boosts economy.

    Totally unrelated to the suggestions here, but did anyone ever play any old MMO's where maps weren't a thing?
     
    Where people had to map out things by hand, and you had to ask other people ingame for directions?
     
     
    Eve Online even had people that published books covering the strategic maps for all of the systems in the game. I remember having stacks of maps drawn up for Everquest, and to this day you can still find plenty of maps that people drew themselves:
     

     
     
    Now I'm not suggesting that DU's maps all default to players having to make them, but I think there should be a bit of mystery or places that the maps in game don't necessarily explicitly show. 
     
    I imagine having my own maps for shipping lanes drawn, or my own stargate maps even (on the computer, not necessarily on paper). Cities might even have their own maps available online detailing where shops are and where landmarks can be found. 
     
    I guess what I'm getting at is, I want to be able to feel lost.

    Use the RDMS for maps as well.
    With individual constructs/asteroids/planetary hex sectors being the smallest unit and the rest being handled by sub-/groups and access rights.
     
    With whole planets or systems being available to the whole faction but the positions of that surveillance ships not.
     
    Or any other combination someone finds useful.
