I would say we are more neutral guys than good guys. If I had to make an "organization alignment" it would probably be "Neutral good" with some activities leaning towards "Neutral evil". But this is an off the top of my head thought. I'll have to think about it deeper...and as an organization it's something we should vote on.
When I say good guy, I mean not bad for the sake of it. I can swing from angel to devil in a heartbeat if the circumstances are right .
I just took one of those Alighnment tests, and I came out as 'true neutral', the second closest to that were neutral good, and chaotic neutral. So pretty neutral lol. I like that, means I'm flexible.
I'm in essence, a good guy in terms of respecting the boundaries of others, but I also make a fierce and ardent enemy with good reason.
I think it's fine people have their own positions and alignments, it will definitely make for interesting adventures, and any good Organization will have it's various different characters.
That said we all share the free spirit, and 'rogue-like' status.

You savages
Depends on whether you're on our good side or not-so-good side . But to reiterate, we're good guys, unless you cross the wrong side of us, then you might find yourself hounded across the Universe .

Hello and welcome to forum and DU community. Buckle up and enjoy the ride

I agree with what you saying practically robots or drones would be better id prefer this over slaves personally would be less hassle and I would not want to bring back old ways such as slavery id rather move forward to more advanced mwthods which would be much more efficient in the long run which if its gonna take a while to get anyway you really want to think about the long term and not short term I think.
If there was an aggressive and hostile alien race trying to take human slaves, I could get behind that, but not humans enslaving humans. In an advanced space age, with evolving technologies I don't think it would be viable to use humans as slaves. Humans die, and they're not easily replaced unless you force breed them, or grow them.
But an uncivil alien race, violent and fiercely anti-human, I could see them enslaving humans simply for sport, or as a food supply.

Hoping that different building materials have different strengths and/or reinforcement defensive capabilities.

Exactly, there has to be a delicate balance. People will want to form settlements, cities, stations, and NQ recognise these things will take time, so in order for civilisation to take effective root in game, there has to be a balance between pvp and building.

Maybe you have to eat only to use the nanoformer...https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2014/08/17/about-the-alpha-gameplay/
That there could be a big clue. Heat/eat. Body temperature and food/eating it appears, might be used in some interesting ways.

I think as last people from Earth we rather need love, as universal source of energy and well being
But, jokes aside, there is some middle ground on "consumption needs": food/water as a benefit, but not necessity. It is simple idea - you can live infinite time on imaginary "rations", provided by a suit (think Dune stillsuits), but if you are full and hydrated, you will perform some tasks (slighly) better. Think about some kind of temporary "buff" - nothing overpowered (that will be drugs), but above-average performance, when you have enough supplies to sustain yourself.
This way we will not be limited by agriculture in cases of exploration or pvp, but long-term settlements (or ships big enough) with food-production capabilities will provide better life for its inhabitants.
Love is what often drives us to survive. We survive to love I believe Food is a fuel and to keep us going we eat from necessity. I mean, aside from it tastes good, it has to taste good in order for us to desire to eat and keep our bodies energised.
I do wonder if food will have benefits in gameplay terms, buffs or healing properties in pvp for example.
That devblog actually mentions two times that we will need food.
But, as I said elsewhere, I don't think it's going to be minute-to-minute like a survival game.
I agree, I think a lot of things will come into consideration and each feature will work fluidly with each other, whether its working for energy sources, or food, I think they will work well.

Ma'am, I hope that someone can make a high-calorie food, cause I ain't gonna keep returing at base to gather food. Either that or I'm going Metal Gear Solid 3 : Snake Eater. And I have eaten snakes. Let's just say the results were... combustible.
I'd imagine there will be food that's high in energy, and going by other aspects of the game, it won't be easy to make or come by. I don't forsee food being such a hindrance as to divert from anything. Energy, making important equipment will be time consuming and challenging, I think it will all fit together nicely in a way that makes sense.
I really appreciate a game that has depth. It seems there are so few games out there these days with real heart and soul, real meaning and depth of gameplay. So much of it is surface, superficial.
Truly I look forward to a game that feels gritty, and sometimes even difficult, with surmountable obstacles. Having to eat, and not just that, but having the necessary technology necessary to grow the food, farm it, process it...all adds to the complexity of gameplay.
At this point we're shooting in the dark, but I don't equate food with a survival game. Dual houses many aspects, and it is essentially about surviving, but it's not at its core a survival game. We'll need to survive temperature, as mentioned in another blog, attacks from other players, we'll have to master travel and improving technology, obtaining and using fuel supplies. There's going to be so much we need to do, it feels deep, meaningful and purposeful when all elements are put together.

This whole "needing food" thingy worries me. Call me absurd, I still find it like Tamagotchi is Space as an idea.
We're survivors, embarking on a journey to save mankind. Of course we need food.
-
I was reading through the devblogs earlier, and had either forgotten about, or hadn't processed this part before:
We are also thinking about farming and hunting, because you will need food.
So we will need food it seems, which I am glad about, it just depends on how it will be implemented.
From this devblog: https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2014/08/17/about-the-alpha-gameplay/
Edit: Seems Halo381's post above partially answers that.

Yeah, or we could make wooden steampunk spaceships!
Would love to try something like that. How possible depends on the tools and what we can do with them I guess.

Guessing solo players will have the opportunity to take advantage of territory owned by organization's. It's a long-term goal of mine to eventually establish a city. I'm hoping it's something that people could come to 'live' in, provided protections are in place in regards to buildings themselves being unalterable by visitors. Much like different visitor claim settings in Landmark.
I think solo-ers could survive fairly well on a small scale, but in terms of resources and innovation it's likely where multiple players will be best suited.
As someone else said, a small ship and home could be doable in a safe zone. But I'd expect the rest of the Universe to be a fairly hazardous place, especially with blood-thirsty pvp'ers around.

I'll be guessing wildly here, but is that bank hidden in the Carribeans? >_>
No in my purse. It's a very deep purse.
-
Hehe good point CaptainTwerkmotor. I guess they could 'locked' into place during launch, but no doubt there are practical implications.

Spinning chairs could be a neat feature.

You guys provide the currency, I'll bank it

Hoping for a nice selection of planets, with their own distinguishable environmental features, for variety and a sense of exploration. I enjoy that feeling of looking forward to seeing what's around the next corner, or in this case, what's on the next planet.

Welcome Halo381! Liking the avatar picture.
-
Looking forward to working with you too Jett. Seems like this will be a great adventure!
-
I'd like pink eyes like my avatar has that allow me to see better in the dark, or at a greater distance. I definitely don't expect that lol, but if it was on offer, that would be something I'd like.

LOL, why would any self-respecting smuggler dole out their list of rules to the likes of you?! Besides, I am the captain of my ship and my rules change according to my mood. My crew can deal with it or be dropped off on the next asteroid - without their cut!
As for joining COPS, well, as a smuggler, I don't normally socialize a lot. But in this new universe we are entering, I'd rather partner with the devils I know than bow to some elite with shiny silver stars on his shoulder. I will not "join the Federation" (or whatever they call themselves in this neck of the galaxy.) Never been much for getting up at the crack or taking orders all day. I am my own woman.
However.... I'm not ALL bad. I may choose to do business with any one of you on the up-and-up at any time .... if it is more profitable to do so. Or maybe a bribe would be more to your liking...hmm? We'll just have to see how that all plays out.
Seriously though. I'm a Landmark player too. But like my comrades have already said, we didn't plan anything in Landmark. I, personally never really actually "played" with any of the folks who have joined so far, except maybe a little good ole-fashioned forum PVP from time to time. But we have seen each others work and if you want to set up a guild full of voxel artists, well, these are the people you want to join up with. So Kiklix and Lady Astrum have been reaching out to players they know to be like-minded when it comes to game play style. And I'm very glad they did. I actually just started playing around with a new sci-fi build in LM so I can hone up my skills Very excited!!
I couldn't have said it better Dhara! *raises a glass to the lady smuggler*
