  1. I would like a way for players to push the limits of the game without having to be bogged down by resource constraints. Though it would decrease the amount of "great wonders" in the game...
  2. I am personally not a fan of hitscan for small-arms combat since it involves much more obstacles and other tactical elements at a much shorter range, which hitscan would greatly reduce the effectiveness of. As for climbing, it could be integrated with crawling to better climb through small spaces and not spend jetpack fuel, as well as being able to take a second to reload or something. As for voice channels, you could have diffrent frequencies like on a acutal radio, and have bookmarked channel for easy access.. You also can encrypt your chat and decrypt it for potential intelligence, though I suspect most would use teamspeak/discord for this. What I want to talk about is space combat. Suppose someone disables the core(is that even a thing? it should be.), and everyone is in microgravity now. what would the movement system look like? Probably WASD for front/back/left/right, mouse look for rotation, and use jetpack for up/down control. Grapple shoes could be used for walking/crawling/crouching on voxels.
  3. In real life space warfare, almost all weapons tend to be nuclear, kinetic weapons of 2 varieties. -Guns. They include the machine guns of the Salyute stations and the Gyro-Jets. -Missile-type weapons, such as Rod from Gods and ASAT weapons. Also in real life space warfare, ramming isn't that big of an issue because -Getting things to space takes a lot of energy by the Rocket Equation. -Perhaps because of the first issue, most warfare isn't in space(yet). The ramming may have some interesting tactical applications such as creating debree clouds to block off spacecraft or large voxel guns. The simplest way can be to have a max survivable velocity and make the voxels disappear above that. This tends to be abuseable I suspect taking actual physics into account will have too much strain on the servers since they have to much more calculations. So, it come down to server-strain vs. abuseablity.
  4. I am pretty sure the "safe zones" were the arkzones, though they would get crowded quickly, thereby forcing players out. so I don't think that would be the issue. Also, printing resources cost resources and energy, forcing players into the world. The jetpack may allow you to fly for a rather short time(like in Planetside/No Man's Sky and a bunch of other game) or be resource-intensive(Mekanism mod for Minecraft).
  5. Will player trafficking be an issue in DU? I can imagine some troll organization promising a ride off-world and a job only to have them trapped in a secret underground fort in the middle of nowhere. But then again, there probably will be an effort to stop it.
  6. I suspect that they will be classified as a hate group(in the case of swatikas) by NQ.
  7. I'm pretty sure the bubble is destroy-able in some form.
  8. Besides, trial accounts can just convert cash into commodity? I also believe that all accounts will be given a(basically a DAC), so, I feel like it would be unfair to reset trial account cash, considering that money in circulation should be proportional to number of players so if the money were to be distributed across everyone, everyone would have an equal amount of purchasing power.
  9. Yes, but massively disadvantaging new players will turn them off from playing the game which is bad for the community in general.
  10. Hold on, do we have things like docking ports? Something for two ships to easily attach without getting out and sticking voxels on?
  11. Maybe Genetic Engineering of food to grow for certain traits? Emphasis on their buffs, more seeds, more produce, faster growth, better surviving, etc.
  12. According to current predictions, DAC prices are going to crash for a time after release...
  13. Well, I was thinking that it just loads that particular ship, but not the other unnecessary voxels.
  14. But isn't the point of trial accounts not only to give people a chance to try it out but to allow people to get enough money to get DACs? And like I said before, money in circulation should be proportional to number of people that are circulating the money. The ore disappears when it is converted into parts for building like engines or used for fuel. I am not sure if any salvage mechanics exists.
  15. Yeah, I've never been great at mathematics...
  16. I went over the numbers again. They all seem to match up. Can you tell me where I went wrong? But what about the people who start playing later?
  17. Aren't the turrets Lock-On? So you actually don't need to see a detailed version of a ship to shoot at it. So, first engagements can begin at somewhere between Max Loading and Max Render. The game could just load the existence of the constructs(the cores) but not the voxels. Then, the effective range of weapons come in. It would also be possible I imagine to selectively load voxels around a core(construct).
  18. From what i'v seen so far, small ships can do interplanetary travel: you would only need carriers for interstellar travel.
  19. Actually, in one of the DevDiaries, they just had a player UI and you press a button. But then again, Alpha. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVJyfKNeOao
  20. Well, I was thinking it could be a loan, and (possibly) you can't buy any DACs with in-game cash unless the debt is paid off. Of course, it *may* cause large flux in inflation/deflation and potentially make the currency unstable if the money pops and disappears out of nowhere. Also, shouldn't a currency be inflated proportionally to the population? Say me and 9 other people have $10 in total which we trade for goods and stuff. But another 10 people joins the club or whatever. Suddenly, the money is circulated among double the people so we end up with these possible scenarios.: Prices stay the same, everyone can afford less in general Prices decrease so people can afford things as before The 10 newbies are dirt-poor OR... 10 more dollars are added to the system, business goes as usual. I am completely wrong and should GTFO of this forum.
  21. I am concerned about startup orgs who doesn't have the manpower to properly protect their base. I mean, fairly quickly, the massive orgs will take over the whole server.
