Add Territory Units to map menu so i can set way points.

    Separate Construct/Ships in Map menu.

Bookmarks/Constructs/Ships should always be sorted by closest distant or add a filter so I can pick to show by planet, distant, org, or by player.

If I'm on my ship and the game crashes for whatever reason I should be placed back in my seat if the seat is not in use.

Constructs at markets should be compacted after x days and can only be re-deployed in the same area where it was compacted.

If advertisement is the goal at markets have players pay for advertisement spots at markets and only allow 1 advertisement per org or player. Have players be able to outbid advertisement spots at markets.

Enable better notification or a better system to allow docking. For example, in my ship if I hit P it will notify me or display that I am now docked to X ship and to hit P again to undock.

Expand parking at markets and charge people quanta for parking. If they don't want to pay have them park on the grass.

These are some really good idea's. Compacting ships after x time though should not happen. This is exploitable. For instance if I want to transport a fleet of ships I just park them all at a market until they are compacted and you can fly them anywhere in your tiny space speeder.

this would answer all the parking at market and clutter issues

i agree with your map updates, those would b nice

A parking fee is probably a much better solution to the parking problem including the advertisement. This way you pay for the advertisement. But I don't think you should get a message every 15min after parking at a market. Maybe just once and then have the option to not show this anymore. Then you just get notifications every time a market fee is paid as long as your construct is parked at a market. If you have docked constructs they should be ommitted from this fee. I don't think that can be exploited.

Another thing to consider is starting players that are just learning to build their speeder might need more leniency when it comes to parking fees at the market. Perhaps they should not pay a parking fee for the first 2 weeks or a much lower fee in a way that is not confusing when that fee switches to normal.

  2. When salvaging first arrived I was expecting something completely different. I envisioned a world scattered with small wrecks. Wrecks you have to find by eye without any UI assistance or directional cues. Something that is balanced with mining but a little less rewarding so it's not the only thing people do. The small reward of the discovery of a wreck would offset the small difference in reward compared to mining.

    2021-01-30.thumb.png.a95d6ed83d285c112b6d9f340ce463a9.png

    The wrecks
The wrecks should be xs cores with a few voxels and elements on them. Not even a complete ship. Depending on how many elements a wreck has and how well you can see them they should be spread out differently. I imagine maybe 3 wrecks per hex depending. You would mostly salvage basic items from them, maybe the occasional freight xs engine or s atmo engine.

In order to have wrecks be diverse and surprising enough there needs to be a great variety of them. To create all those wrecks we could announce a wreck creation event for the community with specific guidelines. The reward for this event is simply having the wreck be part of the game.

    Regeneration
To ensure that salvaging remains a constant activity especially for starting players they should regenerate. I imagine something similar to how the spawning and regeneration of surface rocks works. Though wrecks should not spawn in the same place over and over but rather be random so you always have to keep looking for them.

    Deconstruction
Because I think the market doesnt have a high enough demand for xs elements, especially on other planets, I think it might be difficult to make money selling the salvaged elements. So we probably need to have a way to deconstruct the elements into base components or even grind it back to ore.

  3. Adventuring in Dual Universe

The forrest.... I love this place. And yet there is no reason for me to be here. I went here today looking for idea's and inspiration. It's a really nice place. Just to stand still, look around and listen. Everyone is in a hurry to gather resources as quickly as possible and amass fast amounts of quanta to become the best industry mogul or richest person in this universe. I've been there already. I've seen the numbers go up in many other games and it can work very well, to get people addicted. It's what many mobile games do. But it's not really what you want to do. You are compelled to do it. Having things is not fun, using things is and discovering and creating things or achieving something to a smaller degree. So why am I standing in this forrest? I know new trees and biomes are comming and I'm exited for it. But I fear it won't change much. We need something new and different. Something that triggers a more primal desire... discovery. When I stand here I feel like this is the place to be. This is where I will find something, and I did...

    2021-01-18_(11).thumb.png.b8f0cae694c1fd8b19c2fef7a306f44d.png

I found a tree and a plant that I don't think I've ever seen. It might be the light though. I also found some T2 ore in seemingly higher concentration than outside the forrest. But that's about it.

    1683763858_2021-01-18(10).png.0c5dd9daa7d2efa1e2164b268976d2e4.png1248023514_2021-01-18(9).png.8b93d747adbb6da86ca95d2889889b16.png

I want to walk around this place without a scanner and stumbple upon a rock that is really rare and expensive, relatively.

I want to find a rare tree, indicating there is a resource nearby that I can't scan for but may have to dig for.

I want to find a rare mushroom and sell it for quanta.

I want to climb a tree and gather berries, coconuts or catch a squirrel for a pet, it might be a rare color, and sell it or keep it myself.

I want to find a rare plant that is used as a component to make a different or better type of ammo.

I want to find a strange rock that turns out to be a golem that drops rare resources when I kill it.

I want to catch bees or butterflies with a net and have them as a pet.

I want to find a bee hive and risk my life trying to get it and sell it for quanta.

I want to hear the sound of crackling wood and discover that a tree just fell over nearly missing me as I jump away.

I want to get stuck in mud or quicksand and have to use my tool and a tree to get out.

I could probably go on for a while but I think you get the gist of it.

Caves... one of the most epic and scary things in the game. Yet there is nothing to be scared about.(I know this is not a real cave, use your imagination :))

    2020-10-30.thumb.png.6e68eaf867679d55f84e58d8182df37e.png

When I discover a cave I expect some danger and reward.

I want to see a cave full of shiny crystals to harvest like surface material.

I want some of these crystals to be dangerous and look almost unnoticably different and shoot lightning at me.

I want to see seaweed in places or more alien plants that obstruct my vision in my attempt to look for things that might be hidden here.

I want to discover ancient seamonster skeletons I can gather and sell for quanta. (They don't have to exist and could just be extinct like dinosaurs)

I want to have to use a grappling hook or tractor beam to pull me to the ceiling where I see a patch of gems that would get destroyed using the dig tool and requires the use of the gather tool instead.

I want to see rocks falling from the ceiling that could crush me or they are a signal of more rocks following that could do that. The rockslide may have a small chance of exposing something but won't change the geometry.

Snow... I just want to be able to make snowballs and throw them at players to stun them for a second or make them fall over :) and have a fridge to store them in.1284271285_2021-01-19(1).thumb.png.8d1526876eb20a7de2421c6423b9ae1d.png

Fix the market UI, make it more useable, let people research new schematics and sell what they learned, let us salvage everything, stop trying to force people to play the way you want them to, give them the tools to play whatever way suits them and make your desires a VIABLE path...

I think you should be carefull with reseaching schematics. It can cause players with multiple accounts into a more pay to win model by having each account research schematics offline and sell them when they are back in game.

Recycling of un-restorable elements through a recycler that will take an element as input and grant a small amount of the schematics required components as output

At first glance I read this as though we would be able to reverse engineer elements into schematics. But just to be sure. We are getting back some of the components of the element that got destroyed not the schematic?

I think we should also be able to recycle elements with fewer lives. You will be getting back only some of the components so it's a loss anyway and right now there are some people with inventories full of elements with lower lives they can't sell or use in blueprints.

But if you have a seperate space with infinite material you never buy things to make the ship. You just take money from the economy by selling the BP.

At worst id be fine with a system where you could build a plan for a ship that could go into a projector. You cant sell the plan and you have to actually build a ship to make sellable BPs.

What do you think happens with the sold blueprint?

What would be cool is if the next gen consoles as well as next gen console games integrated mouse and keyboard compatibility via usb. even if it meant buying a ps5/xbox keyboard and mouse, i'd be more than happy, and it would also cure that console vs pc issue for FPS games.

You would still need to provide the means to play with the original controllers. Unless maybe you require a mouse and keyboard like some other games require additional hardware to be played.

  8. You can read my mind in that post most of the time :) One thing that probably needs to be considered are the implications on pvp. For instance if there is an all playstation org will those players have the same chance to defend or attack an all pc org? If controls are different then the experience is different and maybe pc players can respond or act faster to name one. I don't think you can ever say the chances are equal but you know food for though :)

  9. Most of the things I would like to say are really indepth and under NDA. However I can say that the "introvert" is going to be a very relavant player in DU. I'm an introvert and my sister would say that's a huge understatement. And yet I'm here going to the gamescom 2019 and the DU meetup. Introverts are not afraid to talk to people. If they are then that's a social anxiety issue. They/me just need more energy, it's more exhausting for people like me to engage with other people and when we do we only tend to discuss more meaningfull things rather than small talk. Only about 10% are introvert so in that contrast you could say they may not have a big impact, but I don't think that will stop or hinder them from playing DU at all.

  10. Idea 1:

Imagine a planet like any other. You start to dig for resources or maybe a base further down. You pass -10km when suddenly you start to fall. It's dark and you can't see much. Your altimeter keeps falling when.. splat.. you hit solid ground, dead and flat like a pancake 15km down. You go back but this time you're prepared. You bring a small ship and land safely this time. It's not a cave. There are no walls. It just goes on forever. Another world beneath the surface. A deathtrap or an opportunity?

    Idea 2:

Imagine a planet like any other. But when you look up you don't see stars. You see mountains forrests and oceans only a few km away. You can almost touch it. Another planet closer than you've ever thought possible. Where would you settle?

  11. I understand your interest in this. Though some of this information is not known by NQ and players are under NDA and are not allowed to disclose some of the information you are asking for. So the things that can be provided will be very limited. If I'm one of the winners im more than happy to show what I used as inspiration for my ship. And that last question I'm also very interested in. They were very vague in their discription of what exactly they wanted from us.

  12. Hi everyone,

I've been in here for a while now but never really introduced myself yet. My real name is Sander. Some of you know me by Sander496 or my usual in-game name Serula. Im currently 36 years old and single ;) and I work as a software developer for a company that makes software for hospitals. I do all this from Amsterdam in the Netherlands but I live in a small city near Amsterdam.

I'm an early backer of DU because I really enjoy creative games, games where you can explore and do all that with friends and cooperate with them. I will mostly be trying to create nice looking things both buildings and ships and to a lesser degree ships that are efficient. And I'm mostly trying to get that stuff done before the real artists start to get their hands on DU :P When it comes to PVP im a defender. I don't like to steal or destroy other peoples stuff so instead I'll focus on designing defensible structures when needed. My ultimate goal is to get as many people to use my designs as possible.

This outpost is the first thing I made in DU and definitely not the last.

    DdAUTiGXcAAKCSw.jpg:large

Prior to DU I played games like ARK survival evolved, conan exiles, no man's sky, Dark and Light, Diablo 3, Naval Action, Terra Tech just to name a few. And the most missed game is Landmark, the first and only voxel building game I played. Im currently in 3 orgs The Outfit, Infinity Corporation and Prophet Rocket Foundry with many friends and very good builders I know from Landmark.

If you like to know more you can always pm me or follow me on my twitter @Sander496.

Have fun and see you guys and gals in DU o/

  13. That would also force many people to learn to use 3d design software because everybody that does that will have and advantage over the other designers. So the players that play DU because they like to build stuff now have to revert back to 3d design software that some may already be using. They will then mostly be doing that rather than play and build in DU. It will split the community and take away the fun and challenge of building with voxels. It won't be a level playingground anymore for builders like me. And I really don't want to have to learn a 3d development program to build in DU in order to compete with other designers. I want to play and build in DU and struggle with the voxels. Find smart ways to shape them. It's a different challenge.

  14. I would love to see a planet with caves big enough to fly through possibly all the way to the core so you can get lost trying to get back to the surface. Basically a planet with like 30%cave and 70%matter. I imagine you could make really nice structures or cave cities in there and have a different challenge in finding and mining resources. It may not be very realistic but hey that's what games are for right.

  15. This topic is solely created for entertainment purposes and is in no way intended to target anyone or any specific community. If you feel offended, it was purely intentional ;)

This is my take on some of the thought processes behind replies in forums with a little hint of comedy and exaggeration. I would love to hear any of your own contributions on this.

    - Hey yeah you are right but I have to disagree with something so I look a little smarter.

    - Hey yeah you are right about that and im not. Im just going to disagree with you anyway because my pride is important.

    - excuse me sir! I do not wish to contribute to the topic being discussed here in any way shape or form. I just wish to borrow your words and twist them a little bit so that I can be a little bit right too.

    - That sounds like a bad idea. I don't really know why but I just have to say the first random thing that comes to mind.

    - Oh man I don't feel so good. Let's check out this forum and leech some energy from other people by posting some really offensive things.

    - Hmm yeah that really is a problem that needs to be solved. You clearly put a lot of thought and effort into this but I don't agree with your solution. I'm too lazy to come up with arguments or think of alternatives myself so Im just going to say. that sucks!

edit: Might want to move this to the off topic section.

  16. Seems like an overpowered utility that should be done with constructs. You should carefully plan your actions when you venture out. One of the risks would be to lose your ship/plane where you then need to solve the new situation you find yourself in. Like calling for help from friends to maybe pick you up. It also seems like you would have too great of an advantage trying to escape or dodge enemies. Plan ahead weigh the risks of whatever you want to do and have a plan B ready.
