Howdy folks! 
Hope you are all having a swell week/weekend!

Just a quick update - I am still alive and tracking data, I just haven't been posting due to other commitments and being away from home. I will begin regular posting again early this coming week (Monday/Tuesday).

Definitely been some interesting movement in the charts, just hasn't been posted (sorry!).

As you can see from today, it's another average day of low growth, just meaning that there has been less than ten or so members joining the top ten.   There really isn't too much to point out today, but, Dual Secure, who is number eleven is now known as Dual Secure Military.

Anyway,  just remember if you are looking for a group to join, search through more than the top ten, they may seem great but there may be more fitting options for you elsewhere!

Wow, you have a lot of questions that's good. Enthusiasm is good. That being said, there are already threads discussing some of your questions, so I'd like to recommend you check those out and read through all the Q&A threads before you keep posting more questions. Or compile them all into a mega thread. 
 
The following is all subject to change I imagine:
 
The planets will vary in size from up to around 100km in radius to something smaller (I don't have a number for that).
Moons will vary from planet to planet, with some having a lot and some having a few (or none).
I can't remember whether planets orbit the sun (I don't think so, due to the issue of collision detection increasing server load) but the planets do rotate on their axis.
The distance between orbital bodies will vary from system to system as the universe is all procedurally generated, but they will be big enough that interplanetary travel will be not something you do all the time somewhere around 15 minutes to a few hours between planets).
 
I believe asteroids can be moved if you attach engines to them, but I'm not sure. There is a thread on that somewhere.

No they don't. They just rotate because of the exact issues you mentioned. It's in some AMA video i believe

1) They are called Gas Giants

2) It's a good idea, only problem being they are Giants and have to be larger in volume than a planet. Besides that, the devs should first refine solid mineral gathering, before moving to gas extraction in the form of Gas Giants. The problem with the gathering part, being that the game has no water physics in the way you would expect, thus gas physics would be clunky (carved gas giant surfaces as you "mine" gas), which in the context of a voxel octree shape, means every time you mine, if the voxels were to adjust for removal of "volume", it would have to alter the entire of the gas voxel giant's shape by a certain margin per gathering cycle you perform.

3) The moons ideas is nice, only again, the size of the planets s very limited for the moment (100 km radius planets) so moons are quite smaller than you'd expect.

So, it's more of a cool feature to have Gas Giants, but not very crucial to the game? So it can wait for later on down the game's history I guess I mean, it's something the Devs have said already, that more features will come as the game goes on post launch, so, it's not that crazy to have Gag Giants come a year post launch

As far as I understand it, if you purchased a pack that includes an Alpha key then you will have access to Alpha. 
The game developers selected a number of people for the "Alpha Team" who will get access regardless of pledge, but are otherwise identical to anyone who bought a supporter pack.
 
As to your age, no one would have known it if you didn't say it. I believe 14 puts you well below the average age of the community, but it shouldn't hinder you in any way.

Some later game orgs (and maybe some earlier ones) will have to start with mining (or exploration), and they will not likely have the facilities to refine what they mine. After they get some funds though, they will want to set up a refinery ASAP, therefore only selling refined resources for a greater markup. Later, when they have all the fancy things an experienced org has, they may stop mining their own materials and buy from the newer players so the manpower can be tasked elsewhere (such as towards their military).

Think the first few weeks to months will be scarce on the markets cause of the spacerace and territory control. Big/fast orgs will want to claim as fast as possible.
But I think since there are a lot of players (hopefully), the markets gets going fast so we see a drop in price and more people in space soon after release.

It still leaves the question of whether or not we'll be able to reference our own external LUA modules from our scripts or not. 
 
There are some... crypto... based projects that I want to work on in DU that will require me to use my own LUA modules to accomplish, so I'm hoping that we do get that ability. Although I can see it presenting some issues when it comes to selling scripts in-game and packaging up things for sale as constructs + scripts.
 
I just don't want to get into the situation where all of our scripts are giant monolithic pieces of code because we're unable to reference other scripts as modules. Plus if we can reuse scripts as modules then that will open the door for us to sell single-purpose scripts (modules) on the market as libraries. 

Looks broken, at least for the video you sent me. I would ask the admins (Nyzaltar/Nomad) directly about it 

If you have 1000 posts and 2 likes then I would think that would show negatively on you really.  I don't personally care about this at all. If people want to build a reputation here as being annoying posting worthless stuff then so be it.  Just like my post here ..  

Can we get a definition of "better" in this context? Also, poll choice "I don't care" or "depends" might come in handy.

- The game might be available on Steam at some point, but this won't be before Beta, and if we make a Steam version we plan to keep a Standalone version available for those who don't want to use Steam.

Hope it's all looking uphill from today.   As you can see from todays charts we have had a little growth again, adding to the ever expanding group of members that are the top ten.    Along with this, I have some forum stats for the last month!

Average Daily User Join: 12
Average Daily Post Count: 61
Which totaled out to be 358 new users this past month along with 1,813 new posts this month! 
While not the greatest growth month I've recorded, it just says that the forums are alive and growing, as is the community.   As for organization stats:   In total, the top ten gained 141 new members.
The average daily join count (including non-unique members) was 5 members a day.  The largest daily average growth was by Terran Union gaining 2 Members a day on average followed by Cinderfall Syndicate with 1 a day, average.   Anyway, thats all the special stats! Hope you are all not hung over and are enjoying your weekend/new years day! Charts are below!

29th of December, 2016.   - - - - - - - - - - - - - -   First and foremost! I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Christmas, doing whatever it is that they do, seeing family, visiting friends, etc, etc! 

That is one of the reasons I haven't posted recently, but to be completely honest, I've just been lazy about posting, but I also needed a rather lengthy break where I just collected the data and sat on it, but now, here is a batch of posts to mull over.   Now, as for the actual data, there hasn't been a huge amount of growth, but it has been a steady one to five member average of growth across the entire top ten the past several days. With this being said there are always out-lying days that have negative numbers or technically no growth. 

Terran Union is slowly gaining on the four hundred member mark, with several other groups closing on the one hundred and two hundred member marks. 
Dual Secure has also secured their position within the top ten, being a few members ahead of the next most days, with a loss not phasing their positioning too much.

To add to this, I have also ironed some issues with the unique member numbers line and charting.

With the holiday period comes slow growth while people are away, busy or just not motivated to join and talk to new groups and such related activities. 

All of that aside, I hope you are having a wonderful day!
