Why do people not keep themselves informed of game changes?

You may believe it or not, but there is a world outside DU. Many players don't want to waste their time following news about the 'game' in the forums or social media. They just login every few weeks to see if there is any progress that would make it worth playing. When they realize that DU is not just developing backwards but that they also lose their assets to the changes, most of them will never log in again (and not even think about renewing their subscriptions).

The recent reversals of decisions that were given, and then changed, indicate that you are indeed listening to these people.

It's more likely that they are listening to the numbers. They need to reduce production costs but also to keep subscriptions. As they can't maximize both at once, it's a balance act somewhere in the middle. When they risk to loose to many players with the last attempt to save costs, than they step back.

If I do PvP I want to be able to craft Exotic weapons and also mine my ore for it and later be able to also build a ship.

Yes, you should be able to do that but not as efficient as somebody who is specialized in a single profession. That includes that somebody who spends the same total talent points only into PvP and buys the exotic weapons would have an advantage over you in PvP. This is how it is intended in DU, but I do see two problems:

    1. It is quite easy to get decent talents and than spending additional talent points don't make much of a difference anymore. The talents should scale more linear and have more levels.

    2. Talent points grow passive only. That makes it too easy to bypass the system with alts. There should at least be a mixture of passive increase and upskill by actual playing in the particular profession.

The case was as a solo miner .... how can you mine and defend yourself at the same time.

You can't. That fits well into the general behaviour of NQ to force players into orgs.

Going underground on an Astroid leaves your vessel as a sitting duck.

I always wondered if the ship would be protected underground, but I never tried. Is the obstruction considerd in some way or just ignored?

Is there any planets you can mine on?

    No, neither planets nor moons.

Or is the only option as a new player to pick up 10 million rocks before I can afford astroid finding things?

Only if you find 10 million rocks. They don't respawn anymore. I'm afraid there is no way around mining units.

At the moment attempts to curb the 60+ account players are, IMO, driving the more casual types out of the game completely by over-nerfing, over-taxing, etc them.

I don't think that they try to curb multi-account players. Many changes actually promote them - most probably because they behave similar to orgs and NQ is still following their civilisation building agenda. Casual and solo players don't fit into their vision.

Oh, and do you really think there will be a wipe?

Yes, I do. Currently it is the best option for them not to wipe because they are focused on the established player population. But release will turn the tide. If NQ wants to survive with DU than they will need so many new players that the beta veterans will become a minority.

  7. 8 minutes ago, Zeddrick said:

True, but only until the game releases and then they'll have to pay a sub for each of those 60 alts.

Yes, release will stop it. It is very likely that there will be some kind of wipe (partial or full) before release that will make the claimed tiles obsolete. However, the main purpose of a beta is testing and balancing. The conditions should be as closed to the final product as possible. Yes, I know that the "bata" is in fact the alpha and the "finished product" will be the real beta, but that dosn't make it much better. NQ will need to find a balance between newcomers and established players as well as between casual and hardcore players (not to speak of exploiters). I don't think they will get that under control after release if they don't care now. I'm afraid some weeks after a wipe we will have the same mess as before (once again).

  8. They are random, but only on large scale. Nearby tiles have similar values.

These are my results for random unclaimed tiles in steps of around 10 km on Demeter-Day:

    Coal    Hematite    Quartz    Bauxite    Malachite
    47    98    72    323    0
    39    89    71    350    0
    35    103    65    345    0
    30    94    65    366    0
    27    109    60    357    0
    158    58    165    123    0
    260    35    217    25    0
    108    103    228    72    0
    96    73    21    365    5
    177    89    239    19    0
    31    41    147    326    0
    74    107    44    311    0
    51    180    17    291    0
    172    361    4    25    0
    206    358    2    1    0
    411    116    22    25    0
    88    210    82    128    0
    145    206    35    126    0
    13    178    35    323    0
    27    179    122    186    0
    214    54    66    182    0
    195    99    194    18    0
    306    163    48    24    0
    29    497    43    37    0
    28    495    70    13    0
    60    466    60    8    0

The problem is not the general distribution of T1 ore but the distribution of T2 ore between claimed and free tiles. If my scans are half-way representative than most tiles with significant amounts of T2 were claimed from the beginning and will remain claimed (not only on Alioth but also on Madis). That means that the algorithm is not completely random but either dependend on the original ore distribution or (even worse) on the ownership of tiles. This is another bad news for new players. They will need to buy T2+ ores from established players until they can compete with them in PvP space (that means most probably never).

Now ask yourself the real question, why don't you want this to happen ?

Stop reading your opinion into other people's statements. I didn't say that I do not want it. I just don't expect it anytime soon. NQ didn't say that element stacked ships will not work anymore with Demeter. They just announced negative impacts that have not been specified. Wake up and face the reality.

  10. 2 hours ago, Knight-Sevy said:

We are in Demeter and construct with stacked do not are negatively impacted.

Above you claimed "Element stacked ships should no longer be able to fly". That's something completely different than "constructs will be negatively impacted if they contain stacked elements". Now that you already went back to this point just make the last step and ask yourself how you are going to see if a ship is negatively impacted or not - especially without any "specifics".
