  1. How long will a day (one complete revolution on its axis) be on any given planet? Just finished up a little bit of free roaming in burnout paradise and for those of you that have played the game before, it has an adjustable day/night cycle. With that in mind, another mechanic popped up. Per my recollection, the planets Mercury and Venus, the two closest planets to the sun have very short days while the planets further out have much, much longer days. Would we see something similar wherein some systems the planets closest to their star have a shorter day and those further back have longer ones or will everything be random?
  2. Now that's interesting, it's also kinda scary... I never understood if the universe was finite since it was always growing, but what I do know is that people are a finite object, so a possibly infinite object inside a finite being. That could have messy consequences!
  3. The stars are reading my mind? Sorry I don't understand this... It's a picture with a quote from some VIP I would assume, kind of hard to discuss it.
  4. Death race? Oh I can totally do that, already have a few ideas for some tracks to create.
  5. In the same way we lay out voxels, can't an owner just swoosh their arm twice to predesignate a three dementional zone for the renter to build withen? Any time the renter tries to build outside that zone the object they're trying to build either doesn't appear, their suit brings up an error, or any other logical thing you can think of. *shrug*
  6. That got me thinking... How did we get our current systems of measurement? During our time on earth of course. Wouldn't it be rational to redefine our systems of measurement based upon our new homeworld? Sure it could throw off some caculations and some math, but it's not like those variances however subblte should hurt your character or anythig. Then again I'm of quite the simple mind and of imperial measurements. At the end of the day, my foot will still be a foot long. c: You're looking at a future one, although I avoid SI like the plague. Thank you american school system for not teaching me this in fourth grade, now I refuse to learn a system of measurements based around ten. Thinking about it though, it should be easy, just gotta place the numbers with the words, that's all I seem to struggle with... Mars would probally run on it's own standard clock of however many hours add up to one revolution. An earth based clock would probally run alongside the mars clock as far as communications are concerned and I'm sure a computer will handle scheudling meeting times so that both sides can see eachother on their screen even though it's 11PM CST on earth and 5:40AM Mariner Valley East in martian time. As for orgs, we'll still use standard time here on earth. Perhaps if DU set up a server time from the timezone where the servers are hosted then everyone playing DU can use that as a standardized time. Median time could be established running thorugh the ark ship perhaps? Of course that would vary from planet to planet since there is only one arc ship from which to reference. As I mentioned in the quote above, we'll probally use some sort of server established time... hopefully...
  7. I can't help but read all of this and then snicker at your signature. I suppose the spam would be considered.. outlandish? Maybe he's looking for attention from the org!
  8. Alternate/premium currency to be used alongside DU bucks? Make your ship look pretty? Decorate your orgs HQ? Perhaps crystals could be used in certain parts like gold that's used in cpu pins? I'm no expert on that sort of thing but hey, you said 'tech' and I sprung an idea!
  9. I have an idea that involves a temporary black hole that sucks everything in then explodes although I don't think this will be possible... Will we even have black holes in DU?
  10. Read through the OP and the signup page. I might be interested, I might be not. I'd much rather not join out of fear of not being accepted when the org turns invite only but then again if I don't sign up now I might be missing out on something that would have been really awesome to be a part of in DU. Perhaps as we get into Alpha and Beta I'll have a decision made. If anyone interested would like to hear my decision, feel free to prod me about it some time then. Until that moment comes, I wish you all the best and none of the worst.
  11. Good stuff. It almost makes me wonder who the very first person will be to step off the Ark when the game goes live... Talk about a giant leap for mankind.
  12. For something like this that would pre-date launch, I think that such probes, if not harvestable of their useful information like AccuNut mentioned, would just be mere indestructible easter eggs floating in space or as a junk heap on a solid plateau of unmineable land on some planet. Perhaps said information could be 'read only' and contain an article of lore that anyone could read? Of course, it'd be totally unrealistic and plain silly to be moving FTL, only to suddenly hear alarms go off about how some object penetrated numerous walls and doors from one end of your ship to the other. You then realize it was an indestructable probe about the size of what people used to call a "minivan", which didn't move an inch from it's resting place, even after all the god knows what you hit with it...

    Player Prison?

For some strange reason I kept thinking of pirate ships and holding prisoners under the decks while reading this...
  14. Welcome to Dual Universe I guess? No balloons, streamers, hover-tanks?

  15. Did I just loose a lot of ruby pack items by downgrading to iron in hopes of upgrading to ruby via paypal in the future? x_x'

  16. I come from games focused around WWII, those being World of Tanks and War Thunder, the former being the primary game. Anyone that has come from that game would understand what a 52% W/L player had to endure... Mobs of players going down one side of the map, invisitanks, surprise artillery, and a whole slew of bad, awful stuff. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I played that game for a solid three hours or more. For the past few months I'd play a few battles, then log out again in disgust, now it's just gotten to the point where I don't really bother anymore. Other than that, I come mainly from the Xbox consoles.
